Have bought a new car Macan, and I heard a friend say to brush some Porsche hidden functions, using the Porsche engineers version of the computer brush out, which a friend can help me brush out, computer engineer, who can brush out, please contact me, and I will thank you to the way you like.

Since no one seems to cover the basics, I'll start at the beginning:

I AM NOT AN EXPERT - I HAVE BEEN WRONG MANY TIMES. If you dork up your car, that's on you. You definitely run the risk of dorking up your car when you mess around with these tools. You can definitely muck this up so badly that only someone knowledgeable with a PIWIS can fix things - like your dealer.

If you're going to be using this for more than a few minutes, make sure you get an external power supply. I have this one.

Steps I followed to code off the seat belt chime on my 2021 GTS (USA Market) - note that the warnings on the dash still display.

  • Boot up the x431 and make sure it has a good battery charge
  • With your key in the car (I just put it on the dash), or with your key in the ignition, turn the car on (do not start the engine)
  • Turn off the headlights as much as you can, turn down the stereo, close the doors - consume as little power as you can, but leave the PCM screen on (that's the way I've done this work)
  • If you are using external power (probably not needed for this quick config), this is when I turn the power supply on and connect up the clamps (red clamp first!) to the posts under the hood (close to the windshield)
  • Plug the x431 bluetooth dongle into the OBD2 connector in the driver's footwell
  • On the x431, tap Diagnose
  • Scroll down and tap Porsche
  • On the screen that shows you what version of Porsche software is loaded on the x431, click on "Search bluetooth' at the bottom
  • Click on "Automatically Search"
  • It should pop up a window confirming your VIN/Year/Model - click OK
  • Click on "System Selection"
  • Click on "Instrument Cluster"
  • Click on "Code/brush Hiding"
  • Click on "Brush Hidden/Modified"
  • Click on "Search for Coding Items"
  • Type "belt" (without the quotes) into the search window and click ok
  • Click on "Warning configuration-Airbag warnings-Seatbelt warning acoustics (35)"
  • Click on the top "Information" row where it lists the coding value as "Activated"
  • Click on "Deactivated"
  • Click on "Write Code" (at the bottom)
  • Hopefully you will get a confirmation popup that says "Coding Success" - click OK
  • You can now use the back-arrow button at the very top left to back out all the way to the main x431 menu
  • It will prompt you, with the old phone tone that sounds like you left the phone off the hook, to remove the dongle
  • Unplug the dongle and replace it into the storage slot on the x431
  • Unplug the external power (close the hood)
  • Cut off the car
- Lock the car
  • Wait a while (I waited at least 20 minutes)
  • Enjoy your lack of seatbelt chimes as you WEAR YOUR DARN SEAT BELT (I have been faithfully wearing my seat belt since 1977, I don't need a reminder)

If you want to use your remote to open and close the windows/sunroof via press-and-hold the lock/unlock buttons, then follow the same basic instructions as above, but change these settings in Front-end Electronics (instead of Instrument Cluster):
  • Search on "comfort"
  • Change and "write code" the "Coding-Comfort functions-Windows comfort opening" setting to "Yes"
  • Change and "write code" the "Coding-Comfort functions-Windows comfort closing" setting to "Yes"
  • Change and "write code" the "Coding-Comfort functions-Roof system comfort opening" setting to "Yes"
  • Change and "write code" the "Coding-Comfort functions-Roof system comfort closing" setting to "Yes"
NOTE: Changing this setting may impact what happens if you have enabled mirror folding upon lock. Mine seems to be working as expected, but, one time, the mirrors didn't fold in like I expected. I'm not sure why. If you have Entry and Drive, you can press and hold on the door handle to lock and close everything up, too.

If you want to change your one-touch turn signal number of flashes from 1 to 4, go to Front-end Electronics:
  • Search on "touch"
  • Change and "write code" the "Exterior lights parameters-One touch flashing cycles" to "4".

Other stuff to figure out:
  • Rear hatch close with remote - still TBD
  • Disable passenger air bag warning chimes (leaving the dash warning display active) - Still TBD
  • Intersection lighting (I have PDLS+)
    • Headlight: Coding-Byte 4-Intersection Light. Set to Active.
  • Both rear lights on for when fog light switch is on - Still TBD
  • Side-marker Light flashes with corresponding turn signal
    • Front-end Electronics: Coding-Exterion lighting-Exterior lighting: SMK flashes in sync. Set to Yes.
  • Disable chime when door is open while engine is running - Still TBD
  • Disable locking chirp
    • Front-end Electronics: Coding-General-Acoustic feedback for locking (only permitted in North America). Set to No.
  • Enable extra functions for "Joker" button (the steering wheel customizable/diamond button). Note: this will not enable features you do not have (Sport Plus, Sport Exhaust, PASM, Surround View, etc.)
    • Instrument Cluster: Board computer menu configuration-Board computer menu configuration byte 2-Joker Sport: Set to activated to enable Sport Mode in the joker button "Vehicle" options menu (confirmed this works)
    • Instrument Cluster: Board computer menu configuration-Board computer menu configuration byte 2-Joker Sport Plus: Set to activated to enable Sport Mode Plus in the joker button "Vehicle" options menu (confirmed this works)
    • Instrument Cluster: Board computer menu configuration-Board computer menu configuration byte 2-Joker PASM: Set to activated to enable PASM in the joker button "Vehicle" options menu (confirmed this works)
    • Instrument Cluster: Board computer menu configuration-Board computer menu configuration byte 2-Joker lane departure warning: This option does not actually work (see below for LDW)
    • Instrument Cluster: Board computer menu configuration-Board computer menu configuration byte 2-Joker Sport exhaust system: Set to activated to enable Sport Exhaust in the joker button "Vehicle" options menu (confirmed this works)
    • Instrument Cluster: Board computer menu configuration-Board computer menu configuration byte 2-Joker Start/Stop: Set to activated to enable Sport Mode in the joker button "Vehicle" options menu (confirmed this works) - I think this is enabled by default?
    • Instrument Cluster: Board computer menu configuration-Board computer menu configuration byte 2-Joker RTV: Set to activated to enable Surround View in the joker button "PCM" options menu (confirmed this works)
    • Instrument Cluster: Board computer menu configuration-Board computer menu configuration byte 2-Joker Spurverlassenswarnung: Set to activated to enable Lane Departure Warning in the joker button "PCM" options menu (confirmed this works)
    • Instrument Cluster: Board computer menu configuration-Board computer menu configuration byte 2-Joker PCM_MAP: Set to activated to enable the Map in the joker button "PCM" options (NOT confirmed that this works)
Hey Run Buh,
This is an amazing list you compiled for Launch. Have you thought about starting your own Master LAUNCH coding thread........were we can keep this alive and updated ?

Intersection Light

The intersection light function detects intersections and junctions using the navigation data from the Porsche Communication Management system. It switches on the left and right cornering lights simultaneously for optimized illumination at intersections.

Thanks a lot for this Don! I wasn’t sure what to expect so here’s my experience...

Just confirming, I was able to get this done on my 2018 Macan with Bi-xenons, PDLS (so the headlight swivel feature), and Lane Departure Warning (which uses a camera looking forward).

I stopped by an independent certified Porsche service center that I connected with, confirmed they had PIWIS3, and had sent them the YouTube video in advance (wasn’t sure if the dealership service centers would do this). When I got there, initially their mechanic wasn’t sure if PDLS+ could be enabled without the LEDs, but I showed him don’s YouTube video as well and asked him to try anyways. He did and told me he was surprised that “the car took the programming”.

Now when I push on the hi-beam stalk, the first push turns on auto-hi-beams. This shows a second green headlight icon next to the low beam one in the dash with the letter “A”. As an aside, another tap of the hi-beat stalk takes it off auto, and sticks the hi-beams on.

In auto-high beams, by default the low beams stay on. While in auto, if it’s dark, I’m going over a certain speed, there are no cars in front going in either direction, and no street lights, the high beams will turn on automatically (and the blue high beam light will come on in the dash). If the camera then spots car headlights, car tail lights, or two street lights (yes, the manual mentions this), it’ll turn off the high beams (and the blue light in the dash).

Anybody can chime in on possibility of front camera installation? I see that it's cheap to buy on ebay but the bracket on the windshield is different. Also somebody above mentioned that another windshield will be required? If anybody can chime in i'd appreciate.

I couldn't get it to remote close of the rear lid from the key fob either, Launch wouldn't let me write to that setting for the Rear Lid module so I'd love to know as well.
I did do:

  • Teardrop wiping
  • Acoustic feedback on locking
  • Change one touch flashing cycles to 5 flashes
  • Comfort Entry/Exit Drivers Seat Travel fore/aft change to 40mm (from 26mm)
  • G Force Display
  • Tried Performance Display(have enabled & can get it to display, but can't get the trackball to display)

Santrix,
I have Teardrop enabled:
With Launch it is Front end electronics, WWS Coding, WWS-coding-Teardrop active

After the wipers stop, it will wait like 10 seconds and wipe 1 more time to get rid of the "teardrops".

Thanks. Just figure it out and enable it about 1 hour ago using PIWIS. However, I tried it and didn't work. I was stopped when I tried it, so, wondering if I have to be driving at a certain speed. We are under a winter storm right now (a nor'easter), hence I don't want to take my Macan out just to test this.

I remember having this feature in my 2011 Audi A5 and my 2000 VW Passat...

About the exterior light sensor / sensitivity adjustment. I tested it today, and it seems that changing the light limit to from 12.5 to 7.5 W/m^2 didn't seem to have any effect. I changed it to 5.0 W/m^2 to see if that has any effect (with 3.4 W/m^2 being recognized as dark limit). Again, my objective is to alter the auto-on feature of the automatic headlight so that is not as sensitive and can turn on my headlights in darker setting. At this point, my headlights are turning on automatically with plenty of light. It would only turn off automatically when there is direct sunlight.

Maybe this is not the right setting to change, but trying at...

Front-End Electronics : Exterior Light Parameter : Light Limit

In PIWIS --> BCM Vorne : Aussenbeleuchtungsparameter : Hellgrenze

Tear Drop was no issue & not speed dependent. Acoustic feedback males an audible beep when locking the car(Launch X431 Pro Mini screens below)

It's the challenge of getting the performance display to work, not that I need it!

I also have Autel MaxiSysy MS906BT, it's no better (I reckon not as good as the Launch).

I think I figured out what was going on with the teardrop function. I think it works in conjunction with the rain sensor, and only activates if the rain sensor detects any residual droplets.

The reason I say this is because I took my car out around the block to test this, and it activated only when it had some residual droplets in the windshield. Would not activate when the windshield was completely free of droplets. This is why it was not activating when I was stopped (I guess I have very good “and new“ wipers).

I may be off base on this, but this is muy best guess.

I also activated the rear DLR lights... Nice feature,.

Also, with setting the ”Aussenbeleuchtungsparameter: Hellgranze” (Light Limit) to 5.25 W/m^2 (from 12.5 W/m^2) seems to be having an effect of delaying headlights to come on automatically when is bright outside. More to come on this - more evaluation needed.

Photos below. I know is nighttime but I turn off the auto-on to leave the DLR lights on.

There are 4 rear lights that are on while on DLR... the center part of the taillight and the side markers are also turned on.

I wonder if having this feature on reduce the life of the taillight by any significant margin.

I have search the Macan forum, rennlist for Macan and for Cayenne, and have not found a way either.

I tried changing some parameters in PIWIS that should modify this, but when writing, it returns an error and unable to write.

The same for modifying settings for the headlights auto-on. Modifying the auto light parameter doesn’t seem to have any effect.

Thank you! I have a PIWIS 3 and a Launch. I hope to do some testing (testing with Launch is easier/quicker).

Holy crap - that link is a copy (and a seemingly nice one) of everything in the rennlist 958 coding thread.
Which version of the X431 do you have?

I truly wish that current HVAC/Infotainment designers would introduce some "environmental" or "situational" options for vehicles. An example of a very obvious one would be to turn on heated seats/steering wheels if external temperature is below "X". Other drivers could be time of day configurations.

Many cars already do that - automatic bun warmers are great. I can’t speak to other brands but most newer BMWs do the temp-based bun warmers. I’ve seen some time based options, but those are few and far between. At one point, BMW supported ITTT automation. When I entered the defined perimeter of my neighborhood, it would fire off a set of tasks on ITTT to open the garage, turn on some lights, and send a message to Comcast that would display on any powered tv telling my wife to send her boyfriends home. BMW killed that service interface, and I think Comcast did, too.

I updated my list earlier in this thread with coding info for:
  • Intersection lighting
  • Side-marker light flashes with corresponding turn signal
  • Disable locking chirp
Does the intersection lighting only works with PDLS+?

I was also able to activate the front marker as a Daylight Running Light...

239874

Front-End Electronics (two settings):

Coding Value: Outside lighting, marker light, front off with DRL on = no
In PIWIS {Coding Value: Aussenbeleuchtung Begrenzunglicht vorne aus bei TFL ein = nein}

Coding Value: Exterior lighting DRL with parking light = yes
In PIWIS {Coding Value: Aussenbeleuchtung TFL mit Begrenzunglicht = ja}

Looks cool, but I don‘t like the side markers activated with DRL. I think that was activated with the rear light DRL... not sure how they got activated, but I’ll figure it out.

I also activated the side marker flashing with turn signal...

In PIWIS: {Front End Electronics: Coding Value: Aussenbeleuchtung SML mitblinkend = ja}
