Yes, coding is possible. You will need a PIWIS-II.

I have a used a Durametric cable and it is rather useless. There has not been much in the way of research. I may buy a PIWIS-II to play around with it.

I was able to have an independent shop lower my Macan by recalibrating the air suspension settings with their PIWIS. There is not much that I really feel I need to do with the Macan except turn of the pesky nav warning screen.
Is it possible to use PIWIS-II to code a Macan to turn on instrument cluster lights during the day?

My understanding is that you can use PIWIS to illuminate the instrument cluster lights by activating the option for white gauges. See posts 187 and 256 in the following thread......

I believe PIWIS-II will work for 2017 model year and earlier. Otherwise you would need PIWIS-III.

Amazing! Thanks. I take delivery of a '21 Macan S on Friday. Dealer lent me an '18 Macan GTS until my car is ready. The dark instrument cluster is driving me crazy. Now I need to figure you who can PIWIS it.

Well, when worst comes to worst you can always turn on the headlights. That will illuminate what Porsche has decided not to even after complaints from the first year of this wonderful car. There is no way to turn on their other miscue, which is the poor design of the sun shades.

And for me that would likely mean a dead battery when I forget to turn the lights off when I exit the car. I did turn on the lights yesterday morning just to see how bright the cluster gets in daytime. It was perfect. Hard to believe the engineers at Porsche refuse to fix such a simple problem.

That's why I got the white gauge faces. They're lit and easier to read.

You can get a Launch x431 and do most of what you can do with a PIWIS (I have an x431, and a PIWIS III). The x431 is great for the quick and easy stuff. See my post here:

So, like, for a couple of thousand dollars I can make the instrument cluster on my $75,000 car visible during the day, but to do so might violate the warranty. :sneaky: Don't get me wrong, I appreciate your advice--I'm just struck by the irony of the situation. But it makes me think that it might be useful (if this is not already happening) for the Macan Forum community to find a way to communicate with the powers that be back in Stuttgart and let them know some of our suggestions for things that should be fixed.

German wax in ears is almost impenetrable, they don't listen. You note the infotainment systems are in the same category as the un seeable instruments. They can't see, either. We are left with perfect handling and stopping as a compromise.

Porsches have wonderful virtues. But that "wax in the ears" is what destroys companies and countries. Hopefully, the fiasco VW suffered in the launch of the Golf Mk8, where cars were build and stored for months at the new unfinished Berlin airport until they could fix software issues, has been a wake-up call. VW's new CEO, Herbert Diess, appears more humble than his two predecessors, so there is hope.

And I still have my Ducati.
