High cost of routine service at Porsche

Of course this outrage has been slapped around quite a bit. I challenged my local Porsche service department over a $325.00 oil change and a $360.00 brake flush, and here is how he replied, "We do not apologize for our prices being more than other local shops here in town because we are the only shop with certified Master Gold technicians. We also only use Porsche genuine parts and offer a 2yr/unlimited mileage warranty on all parts and labor. We are the only facility in xxxxxx that has the Porsche PIWIS 3 tester that will communicate fully with your Porsche Macan for proper service and full diagnostics."

What, it takes a master Porsche mechanic to do the oil change or the brake flush? No way. And the PIWIS tester is unique to Porsche service departments why? Because if they weren't proprietary, other companies could reproduce the system.

Anyway, I got my oil done at Oil Express for $110.00, same Mobil one and filter, and my brake flush at Christian Brothers for $130.00, thus saving me $435.00. Porsche refused to reset my reminder on my instrument panel, but I got that taken care of elsewhere for free.

I wonder what others have experienced in this matter.

That’s a pretty weak excuse for a price increase like that (because that’s what other dealers are charging?).

More and more private garages are starting to get the equipment to do alignments with LKA. If I recall correctly other forum members have mentioned paying about $300-$350 for this at an independent garage.

Which dealer is trying to pull this on you? We appreciate the warning.

I use Porsche of Nashville. I would’ve be surprised if they were giving me that price because 1) I didn’t need the alignment and 2) they didn’t want to do it. Still though... luckily I’m moving soon so perhaps my new stealership will be more reasonable.

Fairly sure Car Care in Hendersonville has the current equipment to do the job. If not they will know who does. It’s rapidly becoming much more commonplace.

Please let us know how much you were able to save versus the dealer. It will be an eye opener.

I had to replace my front tyres last week so I bought the same originals, Continental ContiSportContact 5P 265/40R21 from tirebuyer.com (note: Honey, a browser add on, found an extra $40 coupon) and had them delivered to PEP Boys, price $560. PEP Boys installed and balanced for 2 x ($20 + $5 TPMS) = price $50.

I noticed scrubbing on the outer shoulder of the right hand side tyre so they put it up on the wheel aligner and as I thought it was just a bit of toe-in that was causing it, price, $90.

So all up 560 + 50 + 90 = $700.

And here is what the Porsche dealer offered when the vehicle was in for a warranty claim. "During the inspection, the technician noticed that the 2 front tires were at their wear marks, this would be $815.58 plus tax as well as an alignment for $349. "

So about $1,200 for the same thing.

I turned off the LKA. Driving on a piece of four lane beltway around Houston, it wanted to follow some very old lines that were there from lane expansions 10 years ago. The steering wheel was fighting me! I turned that sucker OFF!

I have the 20K service appointment this coming Monday (car is at 17k and a year since first oil change). Dealer quoted $7xx. I believe this includes discount for PCA members. Haven’t asked about not including cabin filter yet. I will ask how much it costs to do that when I’m there on Monday and then subtract it from the cost. Looks like I can easily do that myself and save some money for upcoming tires replacement.

Did my 20K service at about 17K today. Did my first oil change a bit early at 7-7.5k and it’s been a year. Local independent shop that’s knowledgeable about Porsche quoted $980 or so - 10% on parts. Dealer quoted $950 - 10% on parts and labor for PCA members so I went with dealer. Asked how much to change cabin filter and was told $200-250. Asked them to skip the cabin filter as I’ll do it myself thanks for the other threads and mentions in this thread. So all in it was $600 for oil change, brake fluids, inspected and measured tires, brakes, etc.

Not all too terrible. Still have sometime to go before needing to replace tires and brakes (brakes were quoted about $1,300 for pads, rotors, and labor). Asked about tires and N0 tire options are only Michelin Latitude HP Tour and Pirelli Scorpion Verde for all-seasons. Summer tires I can go slightly lower sidewall at 265/40/20 front and 295/35/20 rear vs stock tires at 265/45/20 front and 295/40/20 rear.

$600 for oil change and brake fluid flush is ok at the dealer. Your Indy is crazy, as is the $200 cabin air filter change.

If dealer charges $1300 for all brakes (front and rear), go for it.

I got a quote for front brakes and rotors for $1,400 for the Macan Turbo. Is that a good price if anyone done this?
