Morning all, I have not yet bought all the oils and need to get the gear set (final drive) oil.

I see the Redline fluid is available and quite popular on other . Has anyone else used it?

Redline is good stuff. I opted for another brand (Ravenol) being German and all and quite a bit cheaper. https://www.blauparts.com/ is where I got it. The have a great site to zero in on what you need including amounts and other misc parts like crush washers, gaskets, filters...

Man… I love that Macan’s have ownership by DIY’ers. Not many people willing to get dirty and truly learn about their vehicles inner workings anymore. As a fellow DIY’er, Thank you for sharing these videos.

You can see the two chambers more clearly here…. I highlighted in green the double clutch side… and in yellow the final drive… and you can see how it extends to the front differential with that long shaft.

Do you happen to have the part number for the oil? I am seeing two different OE fluid at FCP. Mine is just like yours without PTV+. With PDK fluid change, I will drain the gear set fluid as well at the same time.

or for motul is this what we need.

Has anyone considered using the Motul High Torque DCTF for the transfer case? The only difference seems to be the high torque version is a full synthetic and the regular version is a semi synthetic.

Great thread and great videos.
@Santirx, i would only suggest one thing - for the gear set video - edit the title on YouTube / or the description so it will come up if anyone searches for Macan gear set oil DIY, just for better indexing.

regardless - great write up / videos
Thanks for the suggestion. I modified the title to read "GEARBOX (Gear Set) OIL CHANGE DIY for PORSCHE MACAN S (2015)"

Watched the videos from a few years ago showing the process and also identifies the following part number: G055532A2. Plenty of places this part online for a reasonable price but there is a replacement number that a couple dealers advised me of. V04015004B. This is almost 4x the price per quart.
Anyone know if the original part number is still valid or if there is some magic juice in the new part number that justifies the additional cost… $125/qt!

I got the plugs from FCPEuro last time… the Porsche one is $18. But I wonder if the VW/Audi is the same plug (see below) at $5 each.

Porsche is M17.5x12, but can’t see specs on VW/Audi plug. But I believe even $18 at FCPEuro is less expensive than getting these at a Porsche dealer.

According to this, part 13 is the same part numbers you have listed. Just different bags that they come in.

Check this out:

Careful, we are somehow talking about the transfer case drain plug in the PDK gear oil thread.
And yes, that S-tec plug is the same as the Porsche plug as is the Audi/VW plug that was used for fill and drain from the factory. The newer transfer cases have a newer drain plug with a magnet that is discussed in the transfer case thread (same fill plug).

Ah do you know the part number for that or a link to buy the newer one?

You can take a look at these… these will cover your full drivetrain service (these videos are meant to document my experience, but they can be of help):

I just wanted to add another thanks to the mix. These videos were very straightforward and helped me have the confidence I could do these repairs. All drive train videos were done over the last month, and it would have been a lot scarier without these videos. Thanks Santirx :)

Santrix, thx so much for the great videos! I’m taking my new to me 2015 macan s w/ 106k miles to have the pdk and gear set serviced. He already did the rest of the drive train.(he’s a bmw tech not a Porsche tech so these videos are clutch, no pun intended) I drop the car off today and he’s doing the work tomorrow. Currently it does have the 1100 rpm shutter, mainly when it gears down and is coming to a stop. It’s barely noticeable in sport mode. There is a slight vibration when it is idling, but oddly it goes away when you press sport. At any rate..my question is should he change the gear set first then pdk or does it matter..just curious because you run the car through the gears in the refill process. I’m sure I’m over thinking this. We are changing the internal filter because I don’t know the history of the car’s service. I bought the service kit from fcpeuro and am using liquid moly 8100, gear set we are using the oem vw Audi g 055 532 a2 I wish I’d seen your video prior to buying and I would have gone with motul or oem for pdk..hope I have not made a mistake using liquid moly. I love this car and want it squared away..if this doesn’t alleviate the shutter I have an appointment with Porsche to diagnose and have a good warranty I bought with car if it’s the transfer case..I’ve only had the car a month

That shudder you are experiencing from 2nd to 1st gear in non-sport mode is a known issue. It is most likely related to a mechatronics plate gasket failure. It fails in a very specific location.

See following thread post 35 for the area of concern: https://www.macanforum.com/threads/transmissions-p177500-problems.192121/page-2#replies
