ps: sadly my car out of warranty and there’s no dealer next to me
Replace or rebuild mechatronic.

Plenty of info online and you need the full rebuild kit (if you go that route) for the DL501.

This exact thing happened to me. The dealer near me quoted me 26k for the repair. Needed a new tranny, mine is a 2016 S.I had an after market extended warranty, that has been a nightmare but found a tranny shop that would take it in and repair. Currently at the Porsche dealer getting programmed. Fingers crossed. If this guy would not have taken it in I would have been stuck with a very expensive paper weight.

The transmission on my ‘17 GTS with 42k miles is no longer working properly. It sometimes has no reverse gear, it sometimes shifts only to the odd gears, or on other days, only the even gears. Gears shifts at the wrong rpms and revs high, and downshifts to first feels like I’m popping the clutch on a manual. And of course, I’m just out of warranty.

After doing some research, it seems to affect a number of owners but perhaps not to the extent of the transfer case issue. To those who have experienced this problem, I have a couple of questions;

1- what are the chances that I can receive a goodwill repair from Porsche corporate?

2- which Porsche service center in the NY metro area do you think is best to handle this kind of repair and is most willing go to bat for me?

Any help/advice/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How long out of warranty? You certainly don't have very many miles on your car.

I bought it in back in July 2016 so it’s about 5.5 years ago. So a year and a half out in terms of time and 2k in terms of miles. A bit borderline for the goodwill repair but I’m hoping that someone who eas further out of warranty got the repair bill taken care of by PCNA. 🤞

You’re still within the 50k miles warranty limit so it’s quite possible to get some goodwill from Porsche.

So as I was picking my car up from the fourth year required service this evening I had this very discussion with the SA. She reported that the TCC was not leaking oil. I asked now that the OEM warranty was going away how much time did I have before there would be no 'goodwill' on this known problem? She suggested that original owners have a boost and that beyond two years from OEM warranty was probably the end.
(I should add that I previously purchased an extended warranty. )

One reason I’ve recommended many times Geico MBI. That would cost you pennies a day for the coverage and $250 deductible for repair. Too late now but keep it in mind for the future. I’d think best bet is dealer you bought from. good luck

Wish I had that extended warranty. My 2015 Turbo with 66K miles left me beside the road on a skiing trip with this same problem. No reverse, ok to drive....but it wouldn't drive. Stalling when the clutches finally engaged in 1st from a stand still, will shift to 2nd but so hard it squeals the tires, then shifts to fourth and then that's it. No reverse at all. Car when into limp mode a couple of times before a safe parking spot could be found. Funny thing is I got pissed at the situation ( wife and I were really looking forward to this trip) and right before I parked it, I got it rolling , no traffic, so I just floored it and then it shifted ok To 2nd third and fourth and then to fifth as I was backing off the gas? What the ****? Then after I had to stop and try to get going again...clothes did not engage as they should and the big jerk came again plus all the other previously described problems. Car is still beside the road...second day, because snow/ ice will not allow tow truck to get it out of the place I had to put it for safety sake.
I know it is the Medtronic valves in the trans that is doing this but this is my last straw with this car. Maybe if enough people complain about this issue Porsche may step up.

@jzwu and @wwahl : thanks for the reassurances! I also forgot that the Macans warranty goes till 50k miles as opposed to 40k miles (like my other cars). Considering I only have 42k miles, I’m hoping Porsche will cover the repairs. But thanks to @MDJAK jarring my memory, I realize I had Geico’s MBI! Prior to the Macan, I’ve only leased so I never had to sign up for the MBI. Completely forgot I had it 😂.
Love this forum!

Porsche was good to me when this happened at 66k miles on my 2015 a couple years ago and out of warranty. I was the original owner and had all dealer maintenance. Hope you have a similar experience.

Our Macan is now sitting in the driveway, useless. As we have been reporting to the dealer for the last 8,000 miles, there's been a clunking sound that sounded like either something with the rear end or transmission. Over the last month, it has become more pronounced.

The sound first appeared right after the 10,000 mile service/oil change. We took it back immediately, but the service tech said he couldn't hear it. Two months after that, we took it back again. Same result. In December, 2015, we took it in for another minor issue (tire replacement) and finally, the service advisor (different guy) heard the sound and agreed it sounded like the transmission. But, they were busy and wanted to clear out the work they had, so we were told to bring it back in January. Further, they were to start a P-Tech request with Porsche for investigation.

January rolled on by and still no appointment with the dealer. Last week, we called to insist on an appointment and were given one for Monday, 2/1/16.

On Saturday evening, we were going home from dinner across town and received the error message, "Gear box failure, No R gear, possible to drive on." Uh oh. As we got closer to home, the shifting was more strained, skipping from first to third to fifth and never getting to seventh. It would rev really high and then skip to the next gear. We were in our neighborhood when it started to shudder and struggle to shift. We inched into the driveway and stopped. We put the Macan into Park and turned off the ignition. After waiting approximately five minutes, we restarted the car. No gears of any kind; no reverse and no forward gears, either.

Porsche Roadside Assistance will be towing the car in the morning to the dealer. It seems clear we will need a new transmission at the tender age of 18,000 miles. Here's the big question: do we pursue a claim through Porsche, their designated arbitration/mediation company CAPS and our state lemon law? If the transmission is replaced, that history will always be with this car, potentially damaging the resale value. We are VERY disappointed in this development. I appreciate any input. (Note: after searching the forum, I have found one other instance of this issue for a 2015 Macan, but it was at 28k miles.)

It happen to me just now on my 2015 macan with62,000 miles complained for 2 months of sound they said we don’t know issue until now it broke down the picked it up

Good luck with the repair. Porsche may good will the parts since your mileage is low.

Hello Team,
My 2016 Macan problem! what could this be? I am experiencing a small lag during the gear shift. Then My check engine popped up.
Has anyone here experienced the same situation and what was your solution? Is this part of the Transmission Transfer Case?
I need your help!!!

Hi there, I'm new here and I was looking at some threads and only found 1 person with the same issue back in 2015,
Recently bought a 2015 Porsche Macan S with 82k miles on it, all services done at Porsche and the car seemed to be in mint conditions,
Noticed a clicking noise underneath the car a day after driving it, it is almost like the doors are locking, but it comes from underneath the car, and it only happens once I take off with the car, or at 6th gear.
Have anyone been through the same issue? Any recommendations on it?
I have no warranties on the car, so I'm expecting a big hit on this, unless there is a simple fix..

Thanks

If it has not been confirmed that it is in fact a PDK replacement thats the first step .Noise under the car could be as simple as a pebble . Find out first.

I rio ecall a few people talking about PDK failure and transmission overhaul . They were all covered under warranty . A few searches pulled up estimated prices which ranged from 15-30K for a complete new unit with install . Post number 5 was the high Potential PDK failure on used car purchase

If the above or even close is true its time to say good bye to the Macan .
