They are building / ordering 2024 Macan vehicles at this time?

This reply has images, links, specifications and comparisons between the OEM Porsche front / rear dash camera and the Fitcamx camera.

My understanding from an online reply is that dealership activation is required for that camera.

IMO, the OEM Porsche camera installed visual appearance is sooo aftermarket that it is not something I would consider for installation on my vehicle.

Even though the OEM Porsche camera watermarks the image w/ velocity and lat/lon, not included on the Fitcamx, I would still choose the Fitcamx w/ the optional direct fuse panel wire kit, plus my easy / low-cost ferrite bead EMI fix for my vehicle.

 

Also looking forward to an OEM fitment review.

All the Pre-wiring does is save you 4 - 5 hrs labor charges at the dealership when it comes to the wiring portion of the Porsche Dashcam.

The dealership still needs to install the Porsche dashcam to the windshield & activate it. I was quoted about $1,100 for the dashcam and installation (with the pre-wiring option), and I passed for now since my dealership told me they did not have much experience with installing dashcams as of yet....

That linked UK website has many members that have installed the OEM Porsche camera and that system now includes front / rear cameras, not just the dash camera, after a specific cut over date.

 

I also ordered the pre-wiring and regret it now given all the posts on it. My SA also tells me that the OEM isn’t very user friendly.

Are there any camera options out there that can take advantage of the pre wiring or did I just throw 100 bucks into the ocean?

Maybe use it to power a radar detector?

 

I checked that option and then when the gts arrived at the dealership they quoted me $2,500 for the “factory” install. I had a separate ship install the blackvue instead.

All up is 240 TU for both front and rear - 2.4 Porsche service hours. See last page.

In the 992 doc, they quote 110 TU for front dashcam only, 190 TU front and rear. So I am thinking somewhere between 110 TU to 170 TU for Macan front dashcam only is fair.
