50k mile service and pdk p0700 fault code

Hi, I have a 2017 Porsche Macan S with about 50,000 miles.

I know I’m past the 40k-mile recommended service for the PDK, and unfortunately, I hadn’t done it yet.

A shop recently scanned it and found some codes p0700 and others related to 4th and 5th gear. They cleared the codes and added about 2 liters of FFL-3 fluid, but they didn’t change the filter or reset the TCM adaptations.

Now they’re telling me that doing a full transmission fluid and filter service could trigger limp mode, and that the transmission might already be damaged.

The car is not slipping or in limp mode. It drives fine. I want to do the full proper service the right way (filter, fluid, adaptation reset), but I’m getting mixed advice.

Is it still safe to do the full service at this point? Would really appreciate any guidance or recommendations thanks

p0700 code is a non-specific (general) code. Basically, the transmission is signaling there is an service need, please check. Can include, low/dirty fluid, valve/solenoid issues, TCM (like wiring or TCM itself).

2L low - that needs to be investigated. Where did the fluid go?

If it was me - I would change the fluid and both filters (internal and external). Do the recalibration. Drive for 5-10k and then re-check the fluid level. If more than a top off in fluid, then its leaking - investigate more.

NOT doing the service will cause more damage/issues.

Being pragmatic here. Go to a different shop.

Going straight to $20k "fix" isn't doing diagnostic work.

And under this logic, if a new transmission is inevitable, then what is the harm in doing the actual PDK service interval? $250 service or $20,000 transmission?

Would this shop also tell you to never do an oil change because you will need a new motor?

$20K for a transmission? A year ago, my dealer quoted me $40K for a new transmission on a 2017 Macan S with 48K on the clock.
A I said before, do the PDK service or trade in in. Those are your options.

Only 1 of 3 fluids along with the external filter needs servce at 40k. The other 2 are like 120k with the internal filter. I did all 3 of mine at 60k with the external filter only. The codes are most likely temporary inactive codes. Some minor issues that went away. I’m sure you’re safe to do the service. Id so all 3 fluids along with the external filter. Front, mid and back.

If it was me I would do PDK clutch fluid and filter. Then PDK gear oil. Then TC fluid. Then the rear differential. This is what I did at 34k new to me used 2021 S. And I will do it again at in another 30k. Cheap insurance even if it is overkill. No need for internal PDK filter it’s coarse and will come out with nothing in it.

Already did the PDK clutch fluid, Transfer Case, Rear Differential, crossover hose replacement and timing cover bolts. I have a set of spark plugs on hand and removed the right front one which looked almost new so put the original back in.

I just read this post for the first time. Sounds strange to me. Where did the missing fluid go? There must be more to it than what the OP understands, like a missing piece of info needed to make the right call from us as a forum. FFL-3 is just Porsche's approved PDK fluid. Sounds to me like the shop says you need this dirty old fluid with contaminates to keep the PDK running or it will blow up and fail.

Maybe this shop doesn't want the potential liability issue if they do a PDK service and the PDK fails later down the road. Like go someplace else because you messed up.
