Thanks!

The simaservis1108 solution will work only on PCM4.0, not with PCM3.1. Since you have a 2017 model, yours came with PCM4.0.

BTW… there is a way to activate CarPlay in PCM4.0 as a DIY without having to pay anyone, and is safe to do. I did this in my 718 Cayman S with PCM4.0 and didn’t need someone’s service. I also updated maps to 2022 using this DIY. It is the same solution, just that some folks are charging for it.

You create an SD card with the right files and off you go…. Is as easy as inserting the SD card in the PCM and let it do its thing…. Then entering an engineering menu and activate CarPlay. I also activated a bunch of other things.

Look at this thread in the 718forum.com. It works for any PCM4.0, including the Macan.

Thanks Santirx.

I will dive into the thread you recommend, as I may find additional items to activate on my vehicle.

I recommend you talk to Sima to see if you can still do this after his modification. I'm assuming you'll be OK, but better to check for conflicts.

I am sorry it's off topic...
What is it...?

See post 192 on the link, and some of the subsequent posts. You’ll get the answer there…

It is to control my aftermarket amplifier.

So, I decided to keep the DaiNav unit, as they are providing the optical output for me to install. Given that, I decided to stay with the unit, even with the red dot.

Just covered the red dot with a NFC button that looks the part. I think it covers it very well and is not very apparent…. And it has a purpose (which I haven’t defined) but it is an NFC chip.

What do you think?

Unrelated, what conditioner and\or cleaner are you using on your seats? The leather looks great, I want to press my face against it lol.

I talked to the guy that installed my new seat covers in my 964. I was asking him did he have a preferred leather conditioner. He was honest and said "they are all fine...the issue is us humans. We don't apply it enough..." he was basically saying if your car is stored outside...you should be applying conditioner at least once a month.. if it's garaged, then at least once a quarter.. He was also saying that you can never apply too much as the leather will always soak it up...

just a perspective.. I happen to use Griot's products..., but it sounds like it really doesn't matter what you use as long as you use it a lot :)

I use Griot’s leather cleaner and conditioner. And I do almost exactly as @djbooya states… apply often (try to do it every 2 months and I apply enough, sometimes 2 passes per cleaning). I mostly do front seats, because rear seats are rarely used, but try to do rear seats once or twice per year.

One of the things I like the most is that it preserves the matte color of the leather.

Not bad for a 9-year old car with 130K miles…😊.

thanks for the video.

given what i have seen i think i am happy to stick with Mr12Volt. it would be nice to have that nicer 12" touch screen but the installation looks like a pain, the launcher screen seems clunky, the red dot is annoying, and it really burns me that you have to spend another couple hundred dollars for a better MOST converter.

i think if i were starting from scratch, it would be a harder decision.

one other question - you showed the unit has a position fader for front to rear but don't you lose this since the unit only has 2 channel out?

DaiNav unit review video is out!

Try using MacroDroid to automate copying the Porsche Logo where you want it. Not sure if you can install any android app from the play store, but if you can that might help you with that porsche logo piece.

I can't disagree with your comments. My objective is to try to offer an unbiased opinion based on what I experienced, and I'm glad you were able to use all videos I have posted to make that determination.

And yes, no fader. Only left and right. I think I went too quickly through that screen in the video review. I do have fader in my aftermarket amplifier, so I do the "fading" there if needed.

Thanks for your comments and support... (y)

I think this option is better:

+ Built-in 4G LTE Sim card slot, DSP, Works DAB+, OBD2

@Santirx -- how do you like the unit you are using since you've had more time to play with it? Anything stand out as something you didn't realize you missed when you did the review? Or something that maybe doesn't work as good as you originally thought it did? I'm still thinking of going that route, but not encouraged by the 0 communication from the vendor when I asked some questions. I've tried following up with them twice over several weeks. That's quite a different experience from what you documented as them being very responsive. Perhaps I am looking at a different vendor from who you used?

I followed OP's video and installed the same unit. One thing learned: if you don't have Bose/aftermarket audio, make sure to connect the 'amp control' wire in the main plug to the corresponding wire in the audio plug (next to the RCA 'out' ones). Otherwise there won't be any sound. It looks like the car's amp needs the signal from the head unit to turn on. (Also make sure 'Amp On' is enabled in Settings).
