Just got my car back which was throwing some error. It was noted on the document that fluid level was 1 quart low without leaks. Looks like somebody (porsche FF in particular) messed up during valve body install.

Wow, I'm glad this resolved your issue. As I mentioned earlier, right after reading this ours had this fault code on the dash "Gearbox fault possible no R-gear Possible to drive on" on a 700 mile one day trip. We were able to drive home. Luckily we still have 6 months on our CPO warranty. Ours is a 2015 Macan S with 71k miles. We are the second owners. Purchased from the dealer at 60k in miles and impeccably cared for by the 1st owner. We drove it to the dealership on Thursday and I told the SA don't have your customers do that with this fault. It only shifted 1,3,5,7 and was horrible and dangerous to drive with significant throttle lag between shifts. No reverse. They called this morning and are replacing the PDK under the warranty. Whew, glad they didn't try to start throwing parts at it. So far the service from the dealer has been really good.

Update: Repair Kit worked and my gears are back. Do not be pressured to a replace the valve cover or a full tranny. Like my mechanic stated, if you change the entire tranny you OBVIOUSLY will fix the issues for a mere $14-$20k.
Extremely happy to hear that this worked for you!

An update on the original post about my Macan.
I finally got tired of the back and forth - contacted Porsche NA CEO and Porsche Germany CEO in a cc'd email, and within 2 days Porsche contacted me to have it towed back to my local dealership. They also inquired about my misleading experience with the transfer case and urge to purchasing a service package in order to receive such goodwill.

I was told the new transmission has been ordered and I should have my vehicle back within the next week. All expenses covered by Porsche. Thanks for all the responses.
After 4 months the stress has finally been relieved.

My son has a 2016 Porsche Macan with 64,000 miles and no warranty 😢. He starting having jerking issues and gear changing issues , it would no go into gear and he would turn car off and back on and it would jerk into gear and drive horrible jerking and stalling etc. we took it to Porsche dealership who said he needs a new transmission at 19,000 dollars. We then took it to a eurotek mechanic who said it “could” be the valve body but there is no way to test this. He said he would start there and see if that repairs the problem. That cost 4500.00. But if it doesn’t work we are out 4500.00 and still need a transmission. Porsche dealership said when they had the car it threw codes saying clutch 1 and 2. They recoded and reprogrammed the pdk and it did not fix it. Any advice? Anyone have a new valve body fix this problem? I am just a mom that knows NOTHING about a transmission so be easy on me please.
Transfer case? Seems to be a typical prob. Had mine replaced at reduced price ($1800) with car being 7 months out of warranty

Transfer case maybe? Very typical prob that Porsche acted like they knew nothing about but have now recognized as an ongoing problem and are taking responsibility for.

Porsche extended the warranty to seven years or 100,000 miles

It was some mechanical problem with gearbox in my Turbo. Finally I get new gearbox, changed for free although warranty was finished a few months ago :)).
Now everthing is geat !!! I love my car ;-))
I am having the same problem in my 2015 Macan S with the similar message. It tells me that I may not have R but it does go into R. When I park the car in my garage I get a smell that is similar to an overheated engine. Could this be an issue? It is currently in the shop for the second time as I have just over 38K miles on the car.

I purchased a used Macan S nearly 2 months ago. I barely got out of the dealership when the transmission jumped from 2 to 4 and a notice came up advising me that there is a gearbox issue and I may not have Reverse. Well the dealer was great and immediately took it in and said they would make sure it was repaired. I am still waiting for the car as it has been nearly 2 months and they tell me that they are still waiting for a heat sensor to be shipped as it is the reason for the malfunction. Being new to the Macan S have anyone else had a similar issue and what was the final outcome??

This didn't happen to me, but if it did I would have been asking for my money back maybe 7 months ago.

I own a 2015 Porsche Macan S. The car has always been maintained by my local Porsche dealer, has never been in an accident, and is in pristine condition. A month ago the engine light came on. Turns out there is a faulty transmission and the cost to repair it nearly exceeds the value of the car. My dealership has reached out to Porsche corporate, as have I, and it doesn't appear as if they will offer me any assistance due to the age of the vehicle. I was told that sometimes this "just happens." So basically they're telling me the shelf life of my Porsche is 5 years. This is my second Porsche and I thought I would always drive a Porsche. However, I would be a fool to purchase another one if they don't make this right. Does anyone know how I would sell this car? So disappointed right now. Any advice would be appreciated.
so….. i own the same car same year, same thing happened to me. The transmission light came on and went away. Took it to the dealership and they didnt find anything wrong with it. Now im looking to change cars !!

Hello,
Looking for some help on this topic. I have a 15 Macan @ 68k miles. I had the gearbox failure no R message @67k miles and the dealer replaced the mechatronics and claimed the issue was fixed as goodwill.

The vehicle was making a clicking sound shifting from gear 4/5 and 6/7. Not to mention the gears are accelerating quicker than normal. i.e. in gear 7 at 40mph. I took it back in and I’m now being told my transmission is failing and they won’t review their repair or offer and goodwill.
Please help!

Extended warranty? Original owner? Repeat customer?

If the car is outside warranty any goodwill repairs are just that, goodwill. If you have bought several custom 911s from the same dealer then you may get further if you talk to the manager, but no guarantees.

If you feel like the work they did caused the issue, then take the car and all records to a Porsche specialist and see what they say. But it will be on you to prove it.

I'm not sure what you'd expect from the members of this forum other than sympathy about an expensive repair. Sorry, no one likes a big repair bill.

This is the reason many people here won't own any Porsche, even a Macan, outside some kind of warranty.
