Tks for the site..that is the part..
What brand is the Battery?
No where to by found..just porsche is part..that mean is Varta battery?
Aristrocat is the cheapest..I will call them to see what brand will be
Tks much

I had to replace my original battery at 10M because of start/stop malfunctions.
The dealer had to order one rather than use a US after market batt.
I can't find the paper work. If it is important, I can pop the hood and check.

I think there is also a Bosch which is a good alternative. When it comes time for me , that is what I will go after......in case of warranty issues etc. Amazon dealers come and go.
Awesome.. the only Varta ones I could find above are from obscure vendors and I would wonder whether they come fully charged or with any warranty. Do you know which Bosch AGM battery is a suitable replacement?

Its in the trunk under the spare, if you have time I would be interested in this info.

Been in the parts aftermarket for many years. Get as much info off your old battery. Size , Group size. CCA . Many suppliers offer AMG batteries today. NAAP, Deka, Exide . When you swap it out just hook up another battery to the cables to keep the car connected to 12V . take the cables off your old battery still connected to the extra battery. Old one out ,new one in. Connect the cables to new battery and you should be all set.

Help...Battery

Well, 2016 S with 65,000 miles, no extended warranty. 2 days ago no PCM screen. Called dealer. Oh sh t. They never heard of that. They had PCM’s go bad, but this was all blank. And the driver display said no radio. He thought fuse or $3700 for a new PCM. This AM car would not start. Used jumper box to start the car and PCM came back on.

So can I just swap the battery or does it need programmed at the dealer?

Following.

I had another car recently died on dead battery right out of warranty. Usually during service at the dealer they check the battery for quality. But after 50,000 miles, I switched to local garage for engine oil change - they only do oil change not checking brake, battery etc... :-(

See Grim's post #37 above. So it appears Porsche has taken battery replacement a step beyond what BMW has done. At least with BMW the software/equipment needed to tell the car it has a new battery and needs to change the charging strategy is available at a nominal cost.

Well. The deed is done. Dealership again exceeded expectations. Called my local garage who has a “guy” who does all the German electrics. Confirmed need to program something with a new battery. Said he could do it but had never done a Macan before. Wife gave me the look so I called the dealer. Next scheduled appointment was over a week out. He said if we got the car up to him he would take care of it. I jumped the car and wife drove there. Tested the battery and was bad. About $350 and 30 minutes later she was out the door with a new battery. From the dealership! Shout out to Dan and Jeremy at Porsche North Olmsted.

In summary-
1-bad battery can cause PCM to go down
2-you need to reprogram something with a new battery
3-macan s has an AGM battery
4-Porsche batteries are reasonable (AGM battery in my 535 was $550 at the dealership)

Just can't agree that $350 is "reasonable" when a new AGM for our X5 cost $120 at Autozone, plus $50 for my indy to register it (before I realized that I could spend the same $50 and buy the tool to register it myself.

But such is as owning a Porsche, and I can't claim I did not know what I was getting into when I bought the Macan :)

Are you saying if I buy a Chinese PIWIS knockoff to lower my AS, it won't be able to use it to tell the Macan when it has a new battery?
Unlikely. If the knockoff PIWIS is good enough to reprogram PASM ECU and version is recent enough for your car, it should work for gateway ECU as well.
AFAIK this doesn't require online connection.

Here's a decent video showing the battery being changed, and that apparently you don't need PIWIS to register a new battery. List price of the Autel they used (model MS906) is $1495, but I found them on the internet for under $1000.

Looks to me like any Group 49 AGM battery of at least 850 CCA should fit. Varta says their replacement battery (in Europe) is 175mm wide, 353 mm long and 190 mm high, and that seems to match up to Group 49 battery dimensions. They are relatively easy to find in the $200-$250 range.
