Have bought a new car Macan, and I heard a friend say to brush some Porsche hidden functions, using the Porsche engineers version of the computer brush out, which a friend can help me brush out, computer engineer, who can brush out, please contact me, and I will thank you to the way you like.

Another photo of my DRL setup, not during the day. It seems that lowering the light limit value is taking some effect. In today’s weather, I would have the headlights on, but they are off in Auto. Good sign.

In any case...

I’m going to keep experimenting with this, as I don’t like the side markers on. The front markers on are really nice!

They don’t turn off with the turn signal, though. I think that normally they turn on with the signal, but now I don’t remember. While playing with this yesterday, I noticed that while off, if you activate the turn signal, the white light would come on too. I left the setting where they are on all the time.

So far, after many combinations of coding activation and deactivation, I have not been able to turn off the side marker when the front white marker is selected as DRL. Is kind of a package deal, I think. Similar to when you activate the rear DRL, which turns on the rear lights and rear sidemarkers with DRL. I’ll keep trying, but I think I’ll leave it on for now. Looks very cool. I deactivated the rear DRL‘s for now. I may activate them again in the future, but not sure.

Just a couple of things I see via the x431 that look interesting (have no idea if they help with your situation):

Rear-end Electronics: Coding value-Exterior Lighting-Daytime running lamp as side marker light (Yes/No)
Front-end Electronics: Coding value-Exterior Lighting-side marker light off when daytime running lamp on (Yes/No)
In PIWIS, those translate into Front Markers, not Side Markers. I haven’t check the Rear-End Electronics option. I’ll check on that later and let you all know.

Tried some coding today because I was looking to see if I could make the inside cabin a little quieter. Yeah - I drive a GTS, I know, I know. Sometimes I want to be in Sport+ and on the phone at the same time, and not have people on the call know what I'm doing with the throttle. :)

This made no change to the noise inside the car (I had hoped it would):

Gateway: Specified installation list-Vehicle specified installation list-Specified installation list byte 8- Sound symposer (changed Installed to None Installed).

Sigh.

It is possible to turn down the the speaker which vibrates the window and increases engine noise in cabin.

FWIW, while installing the Niche Module, I simply unplugged the lead to that obnoxious speaker located in
the rear lid. I tested the hatch operation before putting everything back together to ensure a simple unplug operation
didn't cause something else to malfunction.

It took several weeks before I stopped hearing the "beep!, Beep!, beep!" in my head - that was no longer
coming form the speaker!

Now, if I can just get those voices to stop telling me what to do all the time... :eek:o_O

I’m not sure which of the coding options did this, it must had been one of the DRL options, but now my instrument cluster is lighted, even when the headlights are off. This is really a nice feature, as it is difficult to see the instruments during the day when there is shade.

I found this explanation in a website:

The ECU in this view is named "BCM vorne E2 Max GT4", (no clue why GT4 is part of that name, it's still the front body control module) the coding value (variable or byte..) to change is named "Aussenbeleuchtung TFL mit Positions und Schlusslicht" (which means "DRL with side markers & rear lights") and the value to change is obviously from its default value "nein" to "ja" as this would make the rear lights and side markers run once DRL is on..

This means that activating the rear DRL, also activates the side marker DRL. I didn’t realize this when I activated this feature initially. I turned this feature on again earlier today. I’ll play with it during the week and see if this will finally turn the side markers DRL off. If this is the case, I’ll keep the rear DRL off, as I was not that crazy about this anyway... Let’s see.

I’ll also try to identify which DRL option turned on the instrument cluster illumination.

After significant amount of testing today with DRL and SML coding, I found that there is only one of the coding parameters that causes the interior instrument cluster to remain illuminated all the time, even when the headlights are off. However, it comes with some side effects...

The coding that you must activate is...

In Launch: {Front-End Electronics: Exterior lighting DRL with marker light = Yes}
In PIWIS : {BCM Vorne: Außenbeleuchtung TFL mit Begrenzunglicht = Ja}

This option, as stated, will turn on the instrument cluster regardless of headlights on/off. It will also activate rear DRL (both rear lights and rear markers will be turn on as DRL). It will also activate the front marker (the white part) and front side markers as DRL. I tried to find a SML coding that would deactivate both rear and front side markers, but could not find anything. That’s the option. If you like the instrument cluster Illuminated, you’ll have to live with the other lights illuminated.

I would be very happy if I get to keep the front marker (white part) and the instrument cluster illuminated. I don’t like the front side marker illuminated as DRL and I don’t care about rear DRL.

What would be the problem you are referring to? The headlights will come ON with the switch in AUTO during night time or if you turn the switch ON. This doesn’t affect the operation of the headlights.

The only difference is that all markers (including instrument cluster) are ON all the time.

Yes, I left it activated for now.

It does really look fine......I think up here in Canada this set up may be default ? I need to check mine.
Anyway, agree most modern cars have this.

Looks like only the one Rear fog is activated ??? Drivers side....as it would be in Europe. That bugs me,,,,,,,,,

#180 ·
No, only both rear sidemarkers are activated. Everything is symmetric. No fog lights activated, rear or front. Rear fog light is located towards the side. I can see what you are seeing and that is a reflector, and that is sun reflection based on sun location and car position.

Is there any macan enthusiast in the Houston area willing to hook’a fella enthusiast to activate the followin hidden features please?

1. Remote closing and opening of windows and sunroof.
2. Change the tap-turn signal from 3 to 5 blinks.

I promise to make it worth your time.

Was poking around tonight un-doing some settings that did nothing on my car (headlight crap), and found the following that might be of interest for turning on the instrument dials. Since I have white dials, I was interested to see what these settings were. I have listed my car's values below. Seems like you could force the cluster to believe it has the white dials (both of the "NE" settings below), then monkey with the thresholds to keep the lights on???

Instrument Cluster:
Dimming-general configuration-Configuration-Central dial white: NE
Dimming-general configuration-Configuration-All dials white: NE
Dimming-general configuration-Switch-off threshold for white dials: 300.00 lx
Dimming-general configuration-Switch-on threshold for white dials: 250.00 lx
Did this ever work to keep the dials on all the time?

Anyone know what the heck the "Joker" buttons in the PCM settings are????

NOTE: THESE DO NOT APPLY TO THE MACAN. See how to set the available joker button options in this post:

Or @Run Buh : if you'd like, we can borrow yours (I/we pay for round trip shipping + $20 or $30 for you) provided you agree to let us borrow yours including programming instructions

I only need to enable 2 features so i'll only need to use it one time. Should pay for itself after a while

Keep in mind: anytime the dealer updates your car, your codings will be reset back to factory defaults. If your car is newer, you will want to retain/maintain access to some device for coding.

You can rent the Launch Diagun here:

This thread says the Diagun can do the coding (if it works on a 958, it should work on your 2017 Macan):

Or, better yet, join the PCA, and connect with other Porsche owners in your area. Many of them have the PIWIS 2's or Launch x431's. and are happy to code your car.

Lastly, if you search around for a bit, you can find the image for the PIWIS 2. With that (and the proper connector), you can build your own PIWIS 2 running as a virtual machine on an existing laptop. I think the PIWIS 2 costs about $400. That's still a lot cheaper than the $800+ I spent for the Launch.
