I haven't missed it at all.
Launch control is merely one feature of the sport chrono package. There are other things that are part of the sport chrono package that are daily usable. But you can't miss what you've never experienced.

Great question. My guess is not too many as LC on a base does 0-100 KPH in 6.6 seconds. Hardly worth checking that box. But it does come standard on the T, even though it has the same engine as a base. It's crazy that they still make it an option on a GTS. Should come standard as you def want it on that engine.
It is odd how the Macan doesn't abide by the packaging conventions of the other models. It looks like SC (along with PTV which is another standard on other GTS cars) is now bundled in with the Sport Package on the GTS to encourage a higher take rate (more $$$) as Americans are probably more likely to tick a package box than a la carte performance items.

I'm sorry but that's a crock... You're entitled to an opinion but should state it as such.
Totally agree with you, Hoosier. A Macan GTS or older Turbo is most certainly made for drag racing and will put 99% of vehicles to shame. LC is so fun and addicting as well. And I bought this car to drive it, not worry about my transmissions feelings. Haha. But VAGfan (love that name by the way and not sure if they meant it to sound like it does) is entitled to their opinion and I am sure they have a pristinely maintained and looked after vehicle.

It will not break your PDK transmission. Few years ago a guy did 50 launches consecutively in a 911 turbo S. Each one was just as perfect as the one before it. His vehicle suffered no damage, and you could probably find it on YouTube.

That being said I would only use launch control if I felt I needed it. I’m a little too mature and find it a little bit silly to go street racing with an SUV but I do remember that Macan Turbo, when it first came out. I was curious to see what it would do so I tested it.

Tell that to all the guys in the Audi S4 forum with blown PDKs......
They break often enough even if you don't LC them.....
The most famous blown transmission probably of all time is the 2009 Nissan GTR. It led to a huge controversy and revision along with a waiver in 2010 where the manufacturer requested the drivers signed it. Now the car is a rare breed halo car.

Aside from the above it was researched a long time ago here on this forum but this is not the same unit as the Audi. I am by no means advocating going out there and blowing launches every two seconds, but I do feel that it’s all in the car. I was given that purpose and can be used rather than abused by excessive use. If you feel comfortable, never using it that’s your choice.

I’m curious about that too - I’ve been reading this forum for 5 years and don’t recall many issues regarding the PDK - certainly not a lot of “blown PDKS’. I’m more in the yrralis1 camp (“mature”). I had SC and launch control on my 911 and now my Macan Turbo and have never tried it. Hmmmmm. Maybe it’s time.

You are missing out on some very detailed information regarding the PDK time bomb over on Rennlist.
Transmission problems...beware - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums

PDK has reached a certain level of maturity after so many years of production and improvement. It’s not that tons of people complain here about massive transmission issues. After all it is a complex mechanical piece of engineering. Given the volumes of produced cars, “blown PDKs“ must be exceptions. Otherwise we‘d surely see more discussions here.

expensive, PDK transmission.
To put things in perspective . . .

If the PDK transmission gets out of order on a non-warranty car, then the owner will have to pay up to 1/3 of the cost of a new car for the new transmission unit and its installation.

Some folks have foolishly thought that "expensive" was a mere $5,000 - $6.,000 . . . in the world of PDK replacement that's just scratching the surface.

But, it's a great transmission.
