PCM5 modding has been relatively complicated and closed off. So I decided to make the MH2p SD ModKit (MH2p SD ModKit).

It is a free ModKit that allows you to modify your MH2p system using only an SD card (no ethernet adapter and Telnet needed!). It is intentionally open so that anyone can make mods for it! If you are a developer, check out LawPaul/MH2p_SD_ModKit: allows for modifying the MH2p unit used in some Volkswagen AG vehicles using only an SD card.

The first mod I am releasing with it installs the true full screen CarPlay mod I worked on with @UncleMacan.

This mod changes your CarPlay from this:

while only needing to copy files to an SD card and insert it into your vehicle (the update automatically installs)!


I created this webpage: MH2p SD ModKit with instructions on how to setup the SD card and run the update. Hopefully, the site will soon host more mods like those included with MH2p Toolbox (Convert and update MH2p without contacting "professionals").

Let me know how it goes and if any instructions can be cleaned up! The goal is to lower the barrier to entry for modding. And to give people a better CarPlay experience for free.

Dear CarmineS, sincerely thank you! I have been nagging Porsche to upgrade the screen for carplay as it seemed ridiculous you could only use ⅔ with the other blacked out. I was nervous to trust in downloading a system from the internet that may be malicious. However this is how it should be. I went with keeping the edge still from PCM5. I have a 21 Macan, I believe everything post 2019 is running the PCM5 which your mod works with. Once again thanks, this system is simple to install thanks to your genius.

If you already have Android Auto, the full screen mod will make it full screen. This mod does not give you Android Auto.

No. MH2p Toolbox is how you can do it for free right now. Or wait a little while for it to be ported to the SD mod kit.

There is a solution called MH2p Toolbox. It requires an Ethernet adapter in addition to the SD card. I plan on adding similar functionality to the SD mods but that work is not finished yet.

MH2p Toolbox from IPROT you mean from russian board or?
I heard that with this toolbox some units have got some problems after applying the encodes over DLINK ENET ADAPTER DUB E100! So i don´t know if you havex experience with it.
I dont want to brick my unit even if the solution is for free!

I would wait for the SD solution then. I am, I read through the guide 50 times but don't want to risk anything or warranty issues if something goes wrong.

It should be sometime this century (j/k of course when it's done right it's done)

From my understanding this mod just changes particular parameters so it won't cause any errors or issue. In theory it's like changing the screen resolution on windows.

Doing the mod tomorrow morning. I’m leaning towards the window full screen so that I can easily access the stock side bar buttons on infotainment screen quicker than pushing the Porsche App Icon on full screen. Put also like full screen so that buttons are all larger. Curious to know if anyone has gone from one to another and tried both and can share their thoughts and preferences?

I’m on full and I just use the hard buttons under. Pretty easy and CarPlay just looks stunning full.

unrelated to this mod, is anyone getting their CarPlay switch back to the Porsche main page…then back to CarPlay again on random? I’m on wired and I don’t know why it’s doing that. Was doing it even before this mod FYI. I’m using Anker cables (tried two) and no change.

My biggest issue is the stock CarPlay buttons on the left side are too tiny for my thick finger tips. Does window full screen make those three side bar button any bigger or just going full screen fixes that issue? Thanks

It only makes Carplay fullscreen it doesn't modify the factory side buttons/sidebar. If you can't press the buttons maybe get a stylus?

Yes the buttons become substantially larger with the fullscreen update

It only makes the CarPlay bigger. The Porsche LEFT icons remains exactly as is.
