Just swapped out the 6 year old original battery and it could not be easier. I know there is a 50+ page battery discussion but the videos and registration information are buried in it and conflicting, but feel free to merge if needed.

This was for a '15 Macan Turbo equipped with Bose
Needed:
30mm torx bit
10mm wrench
13mm socket

Battery: 12V AGM, Size group H8, at least 92AH, OEM is 520 cold cranking amps.
Porsche Part: 958.611.092.21
I chose the Interstate MTX-49/H8 95AH as most do in the US. I am not a Costco member, but there are Interstate battery centers in my state. These have a great warranty.

Registration:
Your favorite tool - Autel, Foxwell Elite, PIWIS etc.
Sadly, I had durametric for the longest time which is useless for most things Porsche Macan.
I CAN CONFIRM the iCarSoft POR V2 (different than POR II) with software version 11.45 does register the battery! (A very cost effective tool). More on that later.

Optional Equipment:
External 12V source or battery charger.

Tightening specs:
Clamp support - 23NM
Terminal Clamps - 5NM

(Optional and likely not recommended by Porsche)
Attach your external 12V source to the jumper posts under the hood to keep all your date.time and memory settings and to avoid having to reset windows, sunroof, steering angle, etc when done. I used an old BMW (CTEK) charger I had laying around.
Positive then negative on, negative then positive off.

#3 (Bose equipped)
Remove your sub enclosure, there is a 30mm torx on each side, then gently pull straight up, do not over extend the wiring harness on the left hand side.

Pull the sub connector straight out from the carriage, then disconnect with the push tabs on both sides.

#5
Lift floor flap to reveal battery compartment and use something to hold it open. (I used the handle on the roadside jack) still in the luggage compartment storage / holder.

Registration is required regardless of brand. As the OP stated the car needs the battery registered for it to be correctly charged by the car. Failure to do so will shorten the life of the new battery.
Yup - the information must be written to the Gateway control unit following a battery change to reset the amount of charge being put out by the battery management system to preserve the life of the new battery and to prevent strain on the charging system.

Plug in your sub, push the wiring loom back into the carrier, sink sub enclosure straight down into compartment and reattach the two torx fasteners.

Reassemble your spare tire compartment, re install luggage floor and disconnect external 12V source.

Register your battery.

iCarSoft POR V2 with updated software.
You select service, BMS, and 911 as the vehicle (sounds crazy, but tech confirmed it and it works). If you choose macan - you cannot enter enough characters for the part number and serial number and it will fail to communicate with the vehicle. And YES in short, you must register your new battery so you do not overcharge it and shorten it's life.
Choose AGM for battery type
Enter the AH specified for your battery, 95 in my case
I used the factory 11 digit part number 95861109221
I used the old serial number and changed 1 digit, remember spaces count as the 15 characters required.

10 mm hand tool to remove the negative terminal connection. The fastener does not come all the way off so dont try to man handle it off of there.
