I was interested in the new EV Macan but now feel disappointed after today's reveal. The only impressive announcement was the supposed, potential maximum range. The increased size, weight and high prices have put me off considering it as a replacement for my current GTS.

Nice headlight setup just like the Nissan Juke lights down low. No thanks Porsche the Kia EV6 GT already has your number nice car with all the options and better prices just to name one EV. Lucid Air more more range faster. Good luck!

What exactly were you expecting? Smaller, lighter, and cheaper? If so, not sure what to tell ya...

I think it looks great - good natural progression from what the Macan has been to where P's design is going, the tech is what was expected, and the range is a definite plus. Not yet ready to plunk down the $ to purchase a six figure EV as it just doesn't fit in with life right now, but I'm intrigued. It'll definitely be high on the list whenever I'm ready to take the EV plunge.

I expect Porsche to tank in the EV market but we’ll see. So far with the Taycan market it looks pretty dismal the days of selling on a name will not work on an EV.

I think it looks ok, slightly boring....I was expecting it to look stunning. I certainly wasn't expecting it to be bigger and uglier. I have built one on the configurator very close to my current GTS specification and it costs $144,000 !!! That is over 30% more expensive than the ice equivalent Macan. Think I will be ordering another petrol engined GTS before they stop making them.

I'm the demographic this Macan EV is targeting - I have 2 EVs currently (C40 and EV6) and waiting for THIS so I can upgrade my C40. I had originally planned on buying the ICE Macan GTS years ago but when I saw the Taycan I decided to wait for Porsche's dedicated EV-SUV platform. The price is fair given the pricing of the Cybertruck, Kia EV9, Mercedes EQS AMG, etc. At the end of the day, it's all relative - you can't compare an EV to their ICE counterparts but rather compare it to the EV competition. The only EV that competes with the Macan EV in terms of performance/size is the Ioniq 5N which is supposed to be around $70K. So $10K extra for better customer service, upgraded interior and adjustable air suspension with option for massage seats? The Macan EV is priced fairly.

No panoramic roof option?!?!!? The Macan 4 is more expensive than the Macan S and worse performance. Stock rims look like garbage, and I hate the headlight design. I think these EVs are just overpriced golf carts. Hopefully they improve the design over the next few generations and make the pricing more reasonable. It probably costs them 30% less to manufacture.

I was genuinely interested in the new EV Macan but have now been left feeling totally deflated after today's disappointing reveal. The increased size, massive weight and ridiculously high prices have completely put me off considering it as a replacement for my current GTS.
1st world problems. I would just say I would have expected a little more exclusive design cues rather than being a slightly squished but taller Taycan IMO.

Yes! The vehicle is just plain ugly inside and out! I know they are going to continue to sell the ICE Macan alongside it for a while. But that vehicle platform is getting very long in the tooth. You wonder how much longer they can milk that platform. My ‘23 S feels severely out of date already in many areas. Just sad. Wish they would invest in a new ICE Macan platform. An EV is just not an option for me for at least another decade.

I am impressed that the new Porsche Macan Turbo electric only weighs 5393 lbs, just 1000 lbs more than the 2024 Macan S. I am nevertheless concerned with the increased tire wear for the Macan Turbo E. A big drawback with the added weight and the massive 833 lb-ft of torque. Tire replacement due every 5000 miles?

For good handling with that weight it likely will require the rear steering option.

I’ve driven both with and without on the Eletre, genuinely didn’t feel it was worth it but on it the price was more than £6K and included a different trick suspension but the stock setup felt fine to me. On the Macan the price is a quarter of the Lotus so I probably would tick that box now.

I'm sticking with the ICE Macan. In fact my new vanity plate arrived today.. Sorry about the dirty pic. We had snow and rain yesterday.

Disappointed? Why? Were you not thrilled listening to the guy in German, with an English dub over, in an Asian city with all the enthusiasm the crowd seemed to have applauding everything the hostesses said?

@Footie got it right in that the launch indicated the target market, just like the 2013 launch at the LA Auto Show targeted the US market for SUVs. This car does not seem targeted for the EU or NA, but for China.

And for those interested in Singaporean Art Week and fancy sculptures.

The Macan 4 is an odd one, in my opinion it’s way over priced where as the Turbo seems about spot on if you based it solely on performance.

Where the Macan Turbo really shines is when you look at is space, it’s wheelbase is almost identical to the Cayenne at only 2mm difference so interior space will probably be quite similar and then you look at the standard kit on offer along with the performance and the Cayenne starts to look very pricy.

I'm ready to move from my 22S and was looking forward to seeing a new Macan design...and waiting for the EV. I am usually a first day "bleeding edge" buyer. I'm unexcited. In general, I'm unexcited by EV's due to the rapid depreciation of all but Teslas...and I don't expect the EV to hold it's value even as well as the ICE macan's which aren't holding their value very well. The design is, at least to me, not very different....the configurator is almost annoying in all it's options....they even show key cases. Not eligible for the $7500 tax credit due to price for those that qualify based on taxable income. If the new ICE model has the same design, I'll either be moving brands or biting the $'s and moving to a 911 which will cost less than the macan to own due to depreciation difference.

It amazes me when you hear about their crap build quality that Tesla cars hold their value. Is it the fact they have their own infrastructure or the perception of one?

Also shocked that the Macan will only be released as a EV in the future and the next Boxster is also following suit, at this rate we will soon be seeing the 911 as the last model to still offer a petrol engine.

EVs offer immense level of practicality, utility and relevance in the modern world. This sentence is identical to what I would use to describe my toaster, sitting on the top of my kitchen counter. I like my toaster, it is the 1st piece of equipment I used every morning and while I could get by without it I certainly am glad I have it. While I am at work I don't daydream about using my toaster again despite its utility, I do however daydream about driving each one of my cars (GT3, Beck 550, Macan Turbo). I daydream about them for the exact opposite reasons to why I like my toaster.

So the question you have to answer is, in your next car, are you looking for a toaster or a daydream machine?

I have no problem with the car. I have a big problem with having the choice taken from us .
Porsche will be doomed in the NA market

Tesla stock fell 12% today. They missed earnings and warned.

They are still 10 years ahead of Porsche, in terms of making an electric vehicle like fast food for the masses. I see my service writer with his head in his hands because there isn’t the same level of support at Porsche. Tesla has a gazillion charging areas. Even with all of this the car is a piece of crap that looks like a bar of soap.

With the Macan being the cheapest model in Porsches fleet what do you think is going to happen in North America when it cost half $1 million to buy an electric 911 ? It surely is not going to become an exotic. I don’t think it will ever happen. The fact that it’s happening with the Macon is bad enough.

I don’t believe this is Porsche‘s fault. They are victims as well but they have a lot of money and they could’ve fought this. I think the Volkswagen diesel scandal took a lot of wind out of their sale, going into any kind of legislative battle.

I agree that not having a choice between a standard gas motor or EV may push buyers to competitors. It's clear that the EV infrastructure is insufficient at this time but it may not be soon. However, there is also much to argue in debunking EVs as the answer to the climate crisis especially regarding materials, manufacturer life cycle, and cost accessibility.

Now regarding aesthetics, is it safe to say that the exterior differences that are truly pronounced are the front and rear fascia? We can see the rear hatch likely translates from Audi platforms. That front end will eventually grow on us all, much like the new BMW grill, and the current facelift Macan.

So my friend who loves EVs (he thinks he is saving the planet 🤷🏻‍♂️) already placed an order for a Macan EV. He said soccer moms will be all over this. He just forgot that where I live, soccer moms drive Escalade, Suburban, X7, GLS or Range Rover. Maybe pickleball moms? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
