Cost of Porsche PSE + install?

I'm debating getting an aftermarket exhaust for my Macan S or getting the PSE. Can anyone tell me what Porsche dealer charged them for the exhaust and install?

My buddy had the PSE retrofitted to his Macan Turbo. The parts and labor was expensive as I recall, close to $4,000.00. To be honest the PSE did not make much difference in the Macan as the Turbos really mute the sound. I would skip it.

Without Sport Crono, PSE is aural only. Might as well go after market, but that's hard in and of itself as some will just drone, sound like crap. If it were me going for aural with some serious tech behind it, i'd look at Akrapovič. Not cheap by any stretch but serious good stuff (i have no affiliation with Akrapovič at all). They had a presentation at PCA's Tech Tactic East last week and it was quite impressive. These guys are serious about exhaust, performance and sound. Nothing wrong with any of that...

I'm going to go against the grain here and say PSE sounds VERY nice and noticable difference versus non-PSE.

I've received multiple compliments on the sound, at startup, idle, and load. Was even told they can tell when my car enters the underground garage at work.

I test drove a Macan Turbo optioned without PSE and the GTS with PSE back to back. The sound and feel of the GTS with PSE won me over for the sale.

Maybe it is tuned to be extra loud when equipped on a GTS? I think that would not be the case though.

However - I'm not sure it's $4000 retrofit nice. But I will certainly have it as a required option in the future.

This topic has been discussed on the forum a number of times in the past, and if I recall correctly the cost was generally in the $3000 range, but that it varied significantly by dealer, and if you have an independent garage that has PIWIS the cost could be significantly less given that the per hour labor cost at an independent garage is typically going to be far less versus at a dealer. That being said, the $3000 may be dated information, and perhaps the cost has gone up.

My own opinion is that it's worth every penny for the reasons noted above.

When I was shopping for mine, I had found a car that had everything that I wanted except PSE, and the dealer’s service department quoted $3100 for parts and installation, but that was two years ago. If I was buying another Macan I would absolutely get PSE again.

I took the comment to be just that in cars with turbos in general, the exhaust sound can be more muted than in normally aspirated engines.

That said, I really love having the PSE on my Macan. Great sounds when you want, and can be essentially silenced when just cruising on the freeway.

If $3000 installed, that seems pretty good, but I think the prices have gone up significantly as SunCoast is selling just the exhaust for $3100 "sale price" and assuming most dealers will charge at least $500-1k to install. I'll call my local dealer next week, but sounds like those who have PSE love the sound it adds.

So I had this done to my Macan S.

My mistake - bought Fabspeed Sport Exhaust - Have had FabSpeed in past and it sounded great on my Cayman S.
But on the Macan it sounded nice at first - great tone...but its always loud - neighbors knew when I started up each morning it got bad...never was able to turn off.
Would be annoying on long trips...but whoaa I swear it seamed like it added +20hp car was FAST... But sound unbearable.

So I had that uninstalled and the Porsche Sport Exhaust installed.
$2700 for Exhaust Kit and $1,400 for install = $4,200 total...WOW !!

My thoughts - well its nice and normal sound and when I turn it on it has a little rumble but nothing near as good as Fabspeed.
If I did it again - would skip on the Sport Exhaust - not enough sound for the $$$$.

Wow thats absurdly over priced and given by the feedback of people who have PSE, definitely not worth the price! I think $4k would be more reasonable... But given you can order the exhaust from Suncoast for $2700, interesting how more than half of that is cost of install from the dealer.

I had PSE installed around 18 months ago. The cost was right at $5000.00 and included all the switching and programming needed to set the car up as stock.

Is it worth it I would say yes. Installing after market does not add any value but if you are planning on turning the car quickly save your money and stay stock. Im keeping the car and was talked out of PSE when I placed the my order in 2014. Glad I added it now as it gives the car some bark when running in Comfort and really adds in sport.

With the windows up most of the time and tunes playing, who the **** cares? Really? It came with my Macan Turbo. I'm not sure if I would miss it. Besides, there's plenty of aftermarket systems out there that sound better IMO.

If our GTS did not have PSE, I would likely add it. I did that to our 997.2 C4S and it enhanced the value of the car by using factory Porsche parts. As many Macans on the road have PSE, I would try to shop for a used system out of a totaled Macan and yank the entire PSE. That's what I did for our 997.2. A 997.2 GTS got totaled and I bought the complete PSE out of it for about $900 and it cost me $1,500 labor to install into our 997.2.
