CarPlay retrofit with Joyeauto - questions / help

I'm skeptical also as I have read many reports about poor audio when playing audio through these devices. Not sure if the other devices had DSP. Also a cleaner install with no need for a separate box.

Interesting find Don…..I would also clone the spinning OEM hard disk to SSD while in there.

I like the reversibility of this….also wondering what factory options/functions will be lost …and of course sound quality.

I understood that some of the poor audio quality was actually being caused by the 3rd party devices containing DSP's that molested the audio signal. I'm not certain that this is correct though. I don't know enough about how the PCM system works.

When I change AUX which uses carplay to BT I hear immediate sound difference. The only problem is in this set up carplay disconnects all the time. Even if this device will allow carplay through OEM BT it will be a huge sound improvement. So I don't think they need much research to figure out how to increase sound quality.

No, it's sinairu, i posted link above. But looking at @Santirx input about audio quality for joyauto it's same issue - AUX which is used by these boxes produces much worse audio quality than OEM BT.

Does yours also have its own DSP? If you use Waze in muted more could you not play audio from phone via Bluetooth at same time? Or is that simply not possible?

I wonder if audio quality and connection is bad because of the external box and the poor quality connections to it? Thoughts? Have you tried a normal aux jack cable plugged in to pcm3.1 to see if audio quality is also bad or if its only bad when audio comes from the cp/aa unit?

If my BT is connected to PCM and Carplay module there will be connection issues. Santirx described his issues with joyauto which are exactly as mine, I don't expect that these modules are different.

AUX is poor connection even without carplay module, so I don't think it's hardware limitation of a carplay unit, rather poor general AUX quality. If new modules allows audio feed outside of AUX it could easily increase audio quality.

I did not research if it has DSP or not. I suspect it's the same as joyauto technically though.
