Do you mean the centre vent where the SC or clock goes ? It is a bit tricky. There are side tabs and two centre tabs towards the front. Then it pulls forward (towards the driver/pass) to release two prongs that go into the dash.

Use an upholstery trim remover. Start on the left or right side which will allow you to release a few of the clasps. Then do the other side. Don't lift too high, just enough to get the clasps a bit loose at the front. The you will see two tabs. One on the left and one on the right, on either side of the wart. Using your trim tool, push the left one to the left to release and the right one to the right. You should then be able to pull the whole assembly forward, though you will have to disconnect the wiring harness to the Sc/watch. It takes 2 minutes once you've done it once.

EDIT: just realized you are talking about the centre dash vent. Same as Panamera as best I can tell.

Yes, i'm talking about the centre dash vent!! i'm sorry, but i'm italian and i speak Russian and Spanish. I studied English at school and i don't speak it very well .. I make so many errors .. I hope to make me understand the same :D:D
back to us, u think that for Macan it's the same as Panamera ?
it's strange that to change the interior trim i must to remove all this parts

Hi Comelit

Can you please post some pictures if you work it out?
I'm needing to remove the PCM and trying to see if I need to remove those vents as I'm adding the clock to my macan.
I have seen the YouTube video for the Cayanne but I think it is different for our Macan's as there seems to be a bit of trim between the PCM and the vents?

All the best

hi Roders,
I haven't done anything yet, because im in search of information about the procedure..
i have found only this DIY - Panamera center vent removal - PanameraClub.com
and this Panamera radio and PCM removal and installation - PanameraClub.com but u must remove the center air vents first... this is for panamera but i think it's similar but not the same.. beacuse if u see this the air dash are fix over the dash trim and in the panamera the trim it's another piece a part ( like you can see in the link on top )
for remove the pcm unit you must first remove the air vents, after unscrew the screws that secure the dash trim and then you can remove the pcm!! on this i'm sure..
today i have try to see in the air vent, but i haven't find the hole to hang on to remove the air vent.. but i cant' find this... damnt!!
i have find this where you can see another pic that confirm my theory...
if anyone find the solution to remove the air vents...
resolve my and your problem at the same time!!
i hope in a gentleman
or in a workshop manual.... i need this..!!
i continue to search and try to remove the air vents...
if u have some notice, please advice me!!
thx

Hi friends

I need to know how I can remove the passenger air grill of dashboard.

I have a noise on it. The dealer has replaced this part for two times but the noise continue. For this reason I need to fix it.

I have found how to replace on a Panamera but nothing of Macan.

Regards and sorry for my bad English

Shouldn't the dealer do/fix it instead?

Yes, the links are for the Panamera, but ignore them.

The discussion in Post 2 by @Macanuck is for the top dash vents on the Macan.

If that is not the correct vent, can you post a picture of the vent you are interested in?

Just curious what kind of mod are you installing?

I don't think we've seen a good DIY procedure for this yet. I think @Roders may have some experience, as he was looking into it at one time. Here are some links to the previous discussions, which don't offer much, and perhaps you've already seen. Hopefully someone with some recent experience can chime-in here with more information for you.

Could you share more about the results later? I would be interested to see what functionality you would get from it. Tks!!!

Macanuk is right, screen will be controlled by phone. I installed my phone just to the left of the cd using a Scosche Magic Mount and it's very easy to use from there. Won't be switching apps frequently so it will be nice to have google maps or waze on the larger screen. Siri also works to open apps. It maintains the map display in the pcm binnacle if not in cell reception or just use offline maps on the phone. I should have it installed in a week or so, thanks to Roders for his assistance, and will update then.

Do you lose any of the current PCM functionality by doing this? How easy is to switch from having your phone mirrored on the PCM screen back to the other PCM functions?

Regarding the installation, is it easy? Any idea of cost? Tks!!

The downside is you have to select the aux video input. Which means you can't do nav on your iphone and listen to Sat Radio for example. The interface is just the standard video interface that a few places sell. Normally used for TV and for reversing camera type applications.

#32 ·
So if you select Aux Video on the PCM you will have the smartphone screen on the PCM screen where you can use Navi but you won't be able to listen to regular radio or to your iPod since they operate in a different input. Is that correct?

#33 ·
Macank is correct. You have to switch between souces, with the Nav-TV a "TV" source appears - you select it and then open the app or the app previously in use appears. The switch between sources is pretty instantaneous so going from radio input to tv input should be quick.

Music on you or internet radio should also play in backround while using waze or other map apps. It's data in the case of radio. I have a call into NAV-TV to confirm this and will update when I hear back.

Hi there if you are interested in the removal of your air vents on ur macan like I was and searched the world to find how they are removed?? Well I had to take the risk in doing it myself and have finally conquered the removal, please be advised it is extremely tight and I highly recommend using some special tools like picks and plastic tongues to remove it with extreme patients and care!!! (No screws in vents just clipped in extremely tight)
