I had no issues with it and found it very easy to use. I cut a longish piece of tubing to suck out the remaining oil after draining it. Filling it up with the fresh oil was a bit of a pain, but that was more related to the fact the tubing wouldn't straighten out very well. When I put it in the fresh bottle of fluid it would want to curl back up so it wasn't sucking the oil off the bottom. What made it easier for me when I was refilling was pushing some dirty rags over the top of the 90* elbow to hold it down so I could use both hands on the syringe. I'll take a look at the other "syringe" to see if it would be any easier.
Oh, is gonna be much easier. Once you put the tubing in, it stays in, and then you can use both hands to push the plunge, which moves like butter…

I am very fortunate to have an excellent Indy with Porsche Certified Techs and very savvy SA's, the Owner is always on site and goes way above and beyond. I also don't have to wait 2 months for an appointment at the dealer, which is always the case.

Lol yeah, I was using the syringe and had to brace the pusher against my chest and pull the syringe into my body. Harbor freight sells that same pump under a diff brand so I picked one up for next time.

Same! 😂

You are 4 years out of warranty . Your service advisor would advise if he could open a "goodwill " ticket but I doubt it . Even if you had Geico MBI you are beyond the 7 year mark . In my opinion 7K on a car thats worth 30K is a tough pill to swallow . I have an old Porsche which is a money pit and I keep going with it so I do understand the "love" . Can you just do the repair ., skip the 3K service and trade it in ? Its a way to hedge the expense and stop the bleeding with repairs .
I thought the TC warranty was extended to 7 years? Not that he wouldn't still be out of warranty but Porsche might be more amenable since it is so close.

I was trying to help... Of course he would need to do his homework. My url review showed almost 100% positive for 490 reviews...

I'm not sure who the "Really?!?" is directed to but I see a list of mostly generic shops (that hit on Porsche due to their SEO but have no specifics, and also have a brand page for every other European make), a few tire shops, and an actual Porsche shop that looks like the newest they've worked on is a 996.
It's a big lift to figure out a shop that actually has a PIWIS and is willing to do a transfer case on Macan. Hint, that rules out 99% of the ones you find on Yelp.
If I was the OP, I'd setup a meeting with my dealership service manager and plead my case. Warranty expired last year on a 2016 .. I put my $1 that Porsche will goodwill it without much of a fight, especially if a large service is also due.

They dont last forever . This is not a "classic" Porsche . Its a daily driver and even beyond the expense and time comes basic transportation reliability .

I realize they don't last forever, that wasn't my point. The suggestion was to ask for a Goodwill Warranty repair and the response was that it was 4 years out of warranty. If the TC warranty was extended to 7 years then it's only out of warranty for 12 months, or less, depending on when it expired. I highly doubt Porsche would offer a GW warranty if it was expired for 4 years. But a GW warranty for a TC warranty that had been expired for a few months would be much more amenable to Porsche.

I did say its worth asking for but I dont think he will get it .

Why wouldn't you? I assume most Porsche owners have long standing relationships with their local dealers. It's kind of part of owning a Porsche, isn't it? I suppose it depends on your area, but I've found it difficult to find qualified independents and those that are capable generally have labor rates within 20-25% of the dealer - sometimes closer. I have yet to find the mythical independent I keep reading about on car forums that is going to save me so much money and yet is still fully qualified. And if they do exist - they are hours away. Lose a whole day driving back and forth vs. the dealer has me out in 15 minutes in a new Macan loaner. Not to mention this situation is clearly a candidate for goodwill.
Exactly. I haven't found that mythical independent mechanic in my area either. I look for it before every major service, but end up going to the dealer for the reasons you mentioned.

Goodwill doesn't pay the bills and sustain the overhead of a Porsche dealership. They need and get every dime they can extract from every transaction. They can throw a $2-300 gift card at someone, but the multi thousand dollar gifts, nah. Unless we're talking the big fish that drop $250k every year. I'm pretty sure there's a German car shop in his vicinity who can either perform TC service or know how to utilize a third party service provider.

Only thing that gives me pause on the HF unit is the 200ml capacity, so it would be useful for partial extraction only. The one linked to Amazon holds 500ml, so in theory, one could do the entire operation with it.

I have both. The 500ml I use exclusively to fill with new oil. I use the 200ml to extract only. I’m OCD and I don’t like to contaminate the new oil with old one, even though that’s gonna happen inside the Transfer Case anyway…😊
