MACAN.15 - just seeing your post. Are you in NB? If so, you must be dealing with not having a local dealer.... PM me if so. Be curious to compare notes on the "local" dealer.

UPDATE: called Porsche Cars North America. Thanks @jzwu and other members on the thread. PCNA Specialist said it is necessary to take it to a dealer to diagnose. If confirmed issue, PCNA might cover it (at least parts) as goodwill. Booked earliest appointment next Wednesday. Will update next week. Cheers All
Picked up the Macan yesterday. Many thanks to PCNA and Porsche of the Main Line. Even though it was out of warranty, the transfer case was replaced for free — parts AND labor! A most welcome and appreciated gesture of goodwill and a nice Father’s Day present.

This is the first time I saw an explanation of the actual issue and the solution. Thanks you for this and it made me feel a little bit better. All this time, I wasn't sure whether they were just replacing transfer cases or actually solved the core issue.
just had my TC fluid change at a Porsche Dealer and added CXL3 additive friction modifier a Ford product which seems to fix the shuddering of the sticking clutches .

You can also “burnish the clutches” after adding new fluid drive ten tight circles in one direction and then ten in the other. Worked like a charm.

Porsche would have very tight tolerances for the the properties of the fluid used in their transmissions. Messing with that is asking for trouble.

Just had the transfer case repair completed on my vehicle

It is a 2017 - GTS

I purchased CPO 10/2018 with 6700 miles.

Noted the problem probably around 9k miles, diagnosed when I asked them to look into it during 10k service. Replaced @ 12.2K miles due to obtaining part and scheduling with dealer.

Add me to the list.
Transfer case replaced today. Gear 1 to 2 shudder...GONE.
Very happy here.

Was reading about “burnishing” in process.
Would the dealer do this ?? Or is this something we should do ?

-A
-AX Transfers boxes, when fitted to failing Macan also have new control software loaded to the Macan. The short delay on my car today was due this software load. Macan computer not co operating. They were successful in the end and all seems well with the MT.

My questions is, if this is virtually the same TC, just with better venting, why is control software updated,? for the better one would think.

What specifically does this software control ?

One more for the list

I have a 2017 Macan GTS with 28,406 miles. A few weeks ago I noticed a mild shuddering feeling in low gear, particularly when starting uphill or into a turn. As others have described, it feels like driving over a rumble strip. It goes away as I accelerate past 1st gear. Called dealer and he immediately suspected transfer case. He did a quick test drive to confirm. Parts have been ordered.

2017 Macan S with 41k miles.

Noticed that when I try to go forward after backing out in opposite direction (like getting out of the garage butt first) the car doesn't move when I press the accelerator (hesitates), it just sits there until I press the accelerator a bit more.

Is this another TC symptom?

I just looked into it a little deeper and the problem goes through the early MY 18 not 17 models as I had stated earlier. The new transfer cases have a different part number and were released in March 2018 so all Macans manufactured before then have the old one. Keep your fingers crossed.
I have a 4/18 build date. Can I check something on the car to see if I have the updated case?

What is the part number of the new transfer case...and where about on the transfer case is the number located?

I'd like to compare this new transfer case number with the number my 2018 GTS comes with at delivery.

Here s my part # on my 18 GTS 4/18 build. Sure looks like old part # to me?

now I m not sure after seeing this.Genuine:
Parts
SKU: 95B-341-010-AX
Replaces: 95B-341-010-X

so mine is A (no X). ????

I bought a certified 2015 S in May 2018. At 32K miles the problem manifested itself (June of this year.) Dealer fixed under warranty. A glance at the invoice indicated would have been a charge of over $4,000. Dodged a big bullet there.

Otherwise, a most enjoyable ride.
