If your priority is a smooth shifting transmission, dual clutch is generally not your best choice. On the other hand if your car is bucking, sounds like something is amiss with the transmission or something else.
My PDK is pretty **** amazing. It's butter smooth, full throttle or otherwise. Sometimes there is little bump into 4th but I haven't noticed it recently. The fact that it can shift so fast while being so smooth is still mind boggling.

I first noticed mine “auto braking” backing out of my garage. Within a few months it started skipping on acceleration. Once I read about this on here, I knew I had to take it in to the dealer. This morning the Porsche mechanic went on a two minute drive with me and confirmed a failing transfer case. Parts are on order and I’m awaiting a call to bring it back in since the service manager says it is “safe” to drive for now. Add me to the list. 2016 Macan S ~14,500 miles.

Mine was replaced 5 months ago on my 17 GTS with 12K miles on it and has the same part number as yours. Other parts used were: 1 0B4-409-309-G (vibration damper), 5 N-106-259-02 (multiple tooth S), and 1 N-107-722-01 (hose clamp). Dealer told me that this transfer case is the revised one.

I'm sure that this question has already be asked but I can't seem to find the answer. Has this be resolved in My18 Macan or I could potentially have the same issue when my GTS arrive next month.

While I can't tell you if the new transfer case resolved the issue (in the long run), I wouldn't give it a second thought. Enjoy your vehicle! Other than the transfer case (which Porsche fixed in 2 days) I have had ZERO issues with my 17 GTS! This car is a keeper. Congrats on your purchase!

Add mine to the list too. Noticed pulling and resistance from stop through first and slow bumpy acceleration. My service adviser had a hunch and pre-ordered the part before I brought the car in, so the turn-around was same day, but it is curious that so many Macans (and Cayennes apparently) have this issue. 2016 Macan S just reached 20k miles. I hope this doesn't have to be replaced in another 20k!!

I don't have many of the symptoms listed, aside from when in reverse. the car slows down pretty rapidly when I take my foot off the accelerator, what someone described as "auto-braking", is a failure just waiting to happen at this point?

Not sure if I took it in now if the dealer would deem it defective enough to replace.

Have ~4k miles

Transfer case problem after warranty

I have a 2016 Macan S with 58k miles and now have the problem identified in the forum as a faulty transfer case. Am I in In own or is the dealer likely to contribute given the number of occurrences? If so, what should I expect to pay?

We have transfer cases replaced on both of ours.

2014 Cayenne was no questions asked since that has been a known for some time and the behavior is very clearly duplicated.

However, our 2016 Macan was a drag out fight with the dealer and PCNA with them finally giving up and getting us one (we are in warranty) with only excuse by the dealer that "no one else has complained about it".

What I can tell you is that my senior SA told me that on the Cayenne they would replace it even if it would be outside of warranty. I am not sure if that would be the case for out of warranty Macans but it would certainly be worth a fight to press the dealer and PCNA to do it for you at no cost if you can clearly duplicate the issue consistent with the suggestions of forum members here and the bulletin that is issued. Typically it is low speed forward and then reverse motion with sharp wheel angle or parking lot speed crawl that was enough to prove to the dealer that there is a TC issue.

Certainly Porsche should cover a known problem....they should actually extend the warranty on the transfer case for x years to everyone.

This reinforces my decision about 10 years ago not to own any car over it's warranty period. I now change cars every 3 years or less....and it's fun...I get to test drive everything. Not sure I'll be getting another Macan...maybe it's time for another BMW or return to MB....and maybe (if pigs fly), Alfa Romeo and Maseratti will improve their build quality/service needs....or perhaps a Tesla if they are still around :)

If you still change cars every 3 years, get (lease) the Alfa or Maseratti.

certainly sounds like fun, but in the interest of full disclosure, you need to include how much you are paying for the privilege of of avoiding potential non-warranty repairs.

Porsche used to have a "goodwill program" . In my case it was many years ago with my 993 Turbo that had a clutch chatter (post warranty) only when entering 1st gear . It was so slight but they did call a rep and all clutch parts were replaced .

In your case since a transfer case is a known common issue and that the symptoms arent noticed immediately I think you have a reasonable claim . I only hope the Porsche rep agrees and comps you the service .

993 Turbo = first-class citizen

Macan = you bought the “cheap” Porsche and don’t deserve any respect from the dealer

My 2016 Macan's transfer case was replaced under warranty. I think I had fewer than 6000 miles on it. I'd have to dig through my old posts to see. I expect that replacing one out of warranty would be an expensive proposition. Others have cited Porsche's goodwill program. They're supposed to be fixing a paint blemish on my Macan under that (one that they're not admitting is a warranty issue), so I'd push for that, since the transfer case issue is a known one.

You should be able to get your Porsche dealer to go to work for you in requesting good will from Porsche for the replacement of the transfer case. If not, find another dealer who will.

As to the cost of the new transfer case replacement, I had mine replaced just last week at 13.5K miles on a 2.5 yrs old GTS. I saw the invoice from the dealer to Porsche at around $2.2K, but if you're paying it would be higher.
