Hello,

This not really a complaint, My turbo started to shudder when I was backing up and when I put it drive it would shudder in 1st, 2nd and a little in 3rd. The car has 14k miles. I brought to the dealer and it turns out that the transfer case has gone out. The dealer was great.
We are awaiting new cv joints that Porsche recommended to be replaced also.

The car has been a great car, this is more of a heads up to all on this forum.

AFAIK, my TC has not been changed. I purchased CPO and service records did not show any TC replacement.

Last night I was driving on a inclined highway at 55, in sport mode 6 gear, when I accelerated moderately, PDK downshifted into 5 and bucked big time before resuming acceleration to 80.

Is this a symptom of TC issues?

March 2018 is the GNC Transfer box date change.
We know this for sure now, per Porsche.

So glad my new TX case has that letter “A” at the end ;)

2016 Macan T

The service date when the transfer case was 1st replaced was 03/01/18. Must of got one of the left over original designs instead of the revised one. Right now the problem really shows up at slow speeds when turning the wheel left or right especially if I am backing up. The car starts to "shutter" but accelerating in forward gear is still fine. My factory warranty is up in April so I plan on bringing it to the dealer soon for inspection. If it is the TC again I will make sure it has the newer part number.

After multiple trips to 2 different dealers in MA and NH, I brought my 17 GTS to another dealer in MA yesterday and just got the call the feel the bucking I was describing. Mine does a random buck while steady on gas at different speeds on flat clear ground, and also when starting out sometimes it will wind up a bit buck bang and go.
Little scared, they have to talk with the dealer I bought it from in FL though because there is a “major issue” with the certification that I don’t need to worry about but the dealer there didn’t do the right things I guess? Said I would get more info tomorrow. The tech has a few other issues he is going to address, including suspension, transmission and engine items?!
cant wait for more info tomorrow. The dealer is about 1.5 hours away and they gave me a ‘19 cayenne. It has the single turbo 3.0, but it is so smooth accelerating compared to my macan.

I went to Nashua first last February, they just totally brushed me off, I had them do an oil change and code my trailer hitch, but wouldn’t spend any time on the buck issue.
I went to Porsche Norwell twice, great people there, first time they enabled carplay for me and second time did an Oil change, so it wasn’t just a complaint about the buck they were also getting paid to do something. But Norwell said it’s the summer tires, it’s the ground isn’t flat or the tires are skipping, everything but the issue.
brought it to Porsche of Burlington Tuesday just for this issue and they saw it right away. Haven’t got an update yet, but I think they will take care of it finally!

You had to go to three separate dealers to get this addressed? So much for owning a 'luxury' car. This is Porsche failure.

Just had mine done. 2015 Macan Turbo, at ~85,400 km (~53,000 miles). Pretty quick service (2 days turnaround total), no charge due to the extended warranty I'd purchased about a year ago.

The invoice shows 3.72 hours labour, the updated transfer box (POR 95B341010AX) plus a few miscellaneous parts (hose clamp, pan head screws, 3 drive shafts POR 95834919100 and a vibration damper POR 0B4409309G). But no item prices and no amount totals.

Vehicle drives very well again. Hopefully this updated transfer box will run many years without failing.

Hi Squire,

Thanks for sharing your recent experience, Am from the GTA and would like to know if after you purchased the extended warranty, did they require you to do regular maintenance work thru the dealer for the warranty extension to be valid or did you maintain it DIY or to Indy's and no questions where asked when your TC was replaced or repaired?
Also, did you pay for the required 110 point inspection separately before they accepted it for warranty extension, if so how much did you pay for it and how much did you pay for the 2 year warranty extension itself?

Thanks in advance.

Anyone ever have dealer pushback when trying to get your TC problem diagnosed? Been dealing with this problem for well over a year now but haven't had time to really press the issue at the dealer. Car is back at the dealer now for some other warranty work and once again, they're saying they can't find anything wrong with how it drives. Going back later this week so I can try to replicate the problem to the tech so hopefully they can finally fix the issue.

Any advice? Thanks.

Put car in offroad mode, slowly reverse and turning steering wheel all the way left and right. It should be very obvious. This test has been documented on the forum extensively.

I did this exact thing and told the tech. He said car should never be put in offroad mode on pavement and said by doing so I was causing the transfer case to fail and that its normal for car to buck on pavement. I'm honestly sick of going back and forth with them. 2nd time ive brought it up now, and this was at a different dealership too. I just wish my symptoms were more "drastic" or that the transfer case would fail even more so they could go ahead and replace it.

Well I am sad to say my beloved 2018 GTS is getting a new transfer case on Tuesday. I took it in today for its 2 year service at 13,500 miles. They gave me a beautiful Miami Blue 2019 base to drive around in and I noticed that the loaner had more get up and go than my GTS. When I got home I was going to call the dealer and ask him, but he beat me to the call and he called me. He told me that he noticed a problem when he was driving it into the bay. They are going to order the part on first thing on Monday and hopefully have me in mine Tuesday afternoon. When he was explaining to me what he noticed, I go oh the transfer case is bad, right?

I have never carried out a launch control in my GTS that’s still in for the issue 2 weeks later. Judging by what I have been told about the prior owner, highly doubt they did it ever. I started launch control once for the exhaust noise, and then just let off the gas and waited for it to calm down and then took off like normal. Love the noise, but was afraid of harming it.

LC is going to put stress on all drivetrain components. Whether it’s the cause for the TC issue is still to be seen/proven.

Curious to know what the build date of the car is. If you're not sure, you can run the VIN at the link below, and it should tell you. Is it prior to March 2018? If so, the transfer case might be worth evaluating.

Let's try this another way: what year? what model? how many miles? any previous work you know of?

Still no word, last time I checked in with them was Tuesday 1/14 when I called them and they had no info for me. I am going to call on Tuesday again if no contact from them. I have no idea what is going on, don’t know what they are doing if they are doing anything? I have their loaner cayenne that I have had to rack up mikes on due to work, so I assume they would want it back? Idk. I know there was an issue with CPO from the dealer I bought it from in FL. Apparently they didn’t do something right.

Hello?!?

The dealer has already had your car for 2 weeks to diagnose a well known issue and you're giving
them another full week? Is this a case of "fool me once..." etc?

Time to pour a little lava down their pants!!!:oops:

Speak with the dealership GM (general manager) and ask him what the h*** is going on with your Macan.
Tell him it's been in his shop for ~3 weeks for an 'evaluation' of a well known issue. Tell him it is not acceptable.

They're sidelining your Macan because it's going to be warranty work and they're addressing other 'off the street'
service issues because they bring more income.

Good luck!

;)

It’s okay with me for now. I have had to do a lot of traveling for work the past few weeks unexpectedly, and at this point I won’t be home until Thursday anyways, a lot of miles I am not putting on my own car. I don’t want to push them and then them say well we want our car back now when I am not there to return it. I will do a check in tomorrow. Not a big deal to me at this point. If I was at home, or home without a loaner it would be different.
