Hello,

This not really a complaint, My turbo started to shudder when I was backing up and when I put it drive it would shudder in 1st, 2nd and a little in 3rd. The car has 14k miles. I brought to the dealer and it turns out that the transfer case has gone out. The dealer was great.
We are awaiting new cv joints that Porsche recommended to be replaced also.

The car has been a great car, this is more of a heads up to all on this forum.

-A
-AX Transfers boxes, when fitted to failing Macan also have new control software loaded to the Macan. The short delay on my car today was due this software load. Macan computer not co operating. They were successful in the end and all seems well with the MT.

My questions is, if this is virtually the same TC, just with better venting, why is control software updated,? for the better one would think.

What specifically does this software control ?

One more for the list

I have a 2017 Macan GTS with 28,406 miles. A few weeks ago I noticed a mild shuddering feeling in low gear, particularly when starting uphill or into a turn. As others have described, it feels like driving over a rumble strip. It goes away as I accelerate past 1st gear. Called dealer and he immediately suspected transfer case. He did a quick test drive to confirm. Parts have been ordered.

2017 Macan S with 41k miles.

Noticed that when I try to go forward after backing out in opposite direction (like getting out of the garage butt first) the car doesn't move when I press the accelerator (hesitates), it just sits there until I press the accelerator a bit more.

Is this another TC symptom?

Transfer Case

Ours started at 48K miles. Noticed the car seemed to be jerking when taking off.

Also noticed an oil leak from the drivers side when doing the transmission service. Which nobody would ever notice if you don't take the belly pans off.

Bought our 2016 from a Ford dealer. Took it to Porsche and they immediately recognized both issues. Taking it in 8/9 to have both issues fixed.

Thought the dealer would give me crap about doing my own maintenance (especially the transmission) but they didn't say a word.

How is your Macan holding up?

What are your Macan’s symptoms? My 2015 S has 35k miles now.

@grim: Just add my 2015 Macan S to the list. It has 36,000 miles and warranty has expired 6 months ago. The car was shuttering while accelerating and jerking a lot. I took it to my dealer last week and they said 99.99% was a bad transfer case and they would schedule an appointment to get it checked. Dropped the car off this morning and just got it back. Transfer case was replaced (part# P95B-341-010-AX) plus a bunch of other parts that go together. Although out of warranty dealer pick it up the tab. Amazing customer service that makes me even more loyal to the dealer and to Porsche. Drove back home just for couple miles and can already notice a huge difference in how smooth the car drives.

How quickly did the symptoms develop? Yeah, Porsche picked up the tab. Dealer won’t. ;)

Either way Porsche or the dealer I am happy I was not charged almost $4k out of warranty. I have been feeling the car different in the last 3-4 months.

Guess the TC issue takes a few months to reveal itself, like the oil leak, which may take even longer.

...whelp... I may have spoken too **** soon the other week... I could be going insane, but I swear I felt slight “jerks” today in the transmission when going from a stand-still... TWICE. I’m aware of the tell-tale signs, so I’ll monitor for a few days and report back.

Another one bites the dust - 2016 Macan Turbo with 36k miles. Symptoms developed over the last few weeks and getting progressively worse. Took it in today and the SA knew what it was immediately, then confirmed by tech. Parts on order, arriving tomorrow.

I've had my 16 S with 50k miles back for 1 week and it drives dramatically different...dramatically better. I now know that the TC was slipping (or malfunctioning) for a couple of months. The bump in 2nd gear was very subtle and difficult to detect. It was easy to attribute it to a bump in the road. Just prior to the repair, the issue developed to the point that it was unmistakable and noticeable when backing up or driving in traffic where it was shifting between 2nd and 3rd gears. Glad to have the old Macan back again.

As you seem to be aware it's a very common issue on the Macan well into the MY2018 cars (your build is most likely before 03-04 month of 2018).
On the plus side, it happened to you while under warranty and I don't believe the issue comes back up.:)
