Also, can Geico drop you (or raise your premiums into the stratosphere) if you have a car that needs repeated expensive repairs?

UPDATE: Dropped the car at the dealer this morning to check on the "Suspension System Fault". As a reference, I have been driving the car with this warning since last Tuesday as I was informed by my SA that it was safe to drive and I had an appointment for this Monday. The car drove fine but air suspension was disabled so was Sport and Sport Plus modes. My SA called me a few hours after I dropped the car to let me know that the air compressor that sits under the driver's seat and controls the air suspension has burned out and needs to be replaced. Apparently this was the first case in all Macans serviced at that dealer (they had several similar issues with Panamera) and he said they were surprised to see that on the Macan the compressor managed to leave the car all the way up (like off road mode) where on the Panamera when the compressor goes bad it brings the car all the way down. Anyway, a new compressor was ordered and it should be replaced by tomorrow. Will keep you posted once I get my car back. In the meantime I am enjoying a brand new Panamera as a loaner. :)

@santastico - Sorry to hear about your issue with the air suspension. I love having it, but still somewhat live in fear that mine will fail at some point. Probably the main reason why I purchased an extended warranty. Is your's still covered under the original warranty? Hope so...

Yes, still covered under warranty until February 2019. I also have Geico's MBI until 2021 but depending on when Porsche brings the facelifted Macan I will probably get a new one before this goes out of warranty. I also had many concerns when ordering air suspension but I would order again and again in any future Porsche. I just love the feel and how the car looks when you drop the suspension. I will ask my SA when the car is ready how much would that service cost me if I had no warranty.

Got the car back today. The repair sheet says the fuse was blown and the air suspension compressor had to be replaced. Air bellows had to be drained and filled again. Car is fine now. I asked the SA why this happened and he said usually it gets moisture inside. This happens very often on Panamera but my Macan was the first one they had to replace. Out of curiosity I asked how much would it cost me if out of warranty. Around $3k.

Happy to hear all is well after repair. My S is now two years old and I hope the AS hold until I trade it in in a couple years.

suspension faults

hey guys ..

I had a similar issue last winter, but one of the wires to the front-driver side suspension was cut, and they replace the shock (unsure if required) and the wire. Not sure what the cost may have been. Porsche Roadside Service was able to cover the flat bed costs to the dealership in that case - they advised at the time, against driving it (dealership was 400km's away).

That said, I got another suspension fault yesterday, after driving ~900km's from NB.ca to Montreal. The temperatures are quite chilly this week - down to -25c for the last couple days. My air height seems to be working - i can switch to offroad, normal and lowered height, but the shocks are in a super-stiff mode, and the ride is best described as bouncy. Not comfortable. Have a return drive (another 900kms) to do on wednesday, and hoping I can get this resolved before then. A friend is going to let me store it in his heated garage over night, to see if this is related to something being frozen up, and a warm night inside resolves it. If that doesn't help, I'll probably try to reach out to a dealer here in Montreal to see if they can take a look at it Tuesday or Wednesday morning. Driving back home for 800km's (back to NB) won't be much fun with the suspension in this state.

Has anyone on here had issues with their air suspension acting up with extremely cold temperatures, below -20c?

I've been getting a random suspension fault. Only happens when in sport mode and the only thing that happens is that it kicks me out of sport mode. The message pops up and disappears as soon as it automatically deactivates sport mode. No messages stored or anything. Happened a handful of times right after I passed 5K miles. But this morning, it happened repeatedly within a few minutes of me turning sport mode back on so I made an appointment with the dealer for Monday. This would be dangerous/annoying if I were doing spirited driving on a curvy road.

Mine started out with random fault warning that would kick me out of sport mode. I'd drive a bit, turn sport mode back on and it would be fine. But it happened 4 times this morning and then this afternoon, compressor under my seat sounded like a garbage disposal. But no faults on the drive home.

I made an appointment for Monday but suspect a not reproducible diagnosis as I can't capture the events on video or photo since it's so random.

Dealer found random incomplete circuit in the air suspension module and repinned all the connectors. Was fine for exactly a week and then it happened again. Don't know when I have time to take it back again.

Update: my issue was very similar to OP's. It's at the dealer again. First time they repinned all the connectors but fault warning came and went a week after. This time they ordered a replacement air compressor. Said it's a bad check valve in the unit. I got the same crunching garbage disposal sounds for several seconds at start up along with random yellow suspension fault warnings come and go and then two mornings in a row, the front end raised all the way up and would not relevel until I pressed the ride height button off and on which created more crunching sounds until it leveled off. Car has 8500 miles.

Want to bring this thread back to life as my car has also just been brought in for the same "garbage disposal" sound coming from the front left.

Right when I unlocked the car first thing in the morning you could hear this crunching sound for like 5 seconds and then right as I start it up, noise stops and then the yellow suspension light came in.

Brought the car into the dealer this past Tuesday and still no diagnosis yet as to what is the cause, dealer is opening up a case with Porsche NA.

Car is a 2018 GTS with just a hair over 10k miles so strange for this to happen so soon into ownership. Hopefully all is covered by warranty and will do a follow up post once I get the car back.

Tell your service adviser to contact my service adviser, Ibrahim, at Porsche Grapevine in Texas.

that was exactly what i've been afraid off when configuring the car and after my SA even told me - get the steel springs, i did and it's zero troubles time.

Were your Suspension System Fault problem resolved & how many times did it take?

There were a number of prior year posts on this topic.

With Porsche's history & records on this Macan A/S issue, why isn't there a speedy resolution to this issue in 2019?
Not sure where you're getting your "facts" from. Thus far few forum members have reported any problems with their AS.

Of course that does not help you, and you should not have to go back multiple times for the same issue, but please don't infer the Macan has widespread AS issues when it does not.

@novamchd1 This sux, whether you're "the one" out of 1000, or out of 10,000, who has won the unlucky lottery. Have you made any mods to your A/S (i.e. install of mechanical lowering links or electronic lowering module?) Or, is your suspension untouched/unchanged from original stock?
