Which one is a must have option on 2023 S? Surround View or Sport Chrono Package

But where are you having fun, driving it or parking it?

I do enjoy driving it, but I also enjoy not curbing a wheel or bumping into a car while parallel parking.

Let's all be honest here. We didn't buy Macans because we needed a hard core, lap time setting sports vehicle. We bought them because we needed a vehicle with some semblance of practicality that we could still extract some fun out of. Sometimes we just need to get somewhere, drop the kids off at soccer practice, or park in a tight parking lot.

Can you still have fun in a Macan without Sport Chrono? Yes. Can you still park a Macan effectively without Surround View? Also yes.

If someone is making an either/or decision (like the OP), that person has to evaluate what matters more to him. There's not a wrong answer, but it does require a bit on introspection.

On my recent build i skipped the surround view and opted for sport chrono Like some have said, i dont find it useful for parking. I also always reverse into my spot, the rear camera is all i need and the mirrors. To help avoid curbrash and getting as close to the curb as possible, you can use the passenger mirror tilt feature which i find much more helpful than surround view. To me the mirror tilt is a must feature.

Did anyone know this?

I never had surround view until my Macan and I always managed just but. However, now that I have it I love it and would always order it going forward. It’s a game changer when trying to park as close to the edge of an end spot as possible and when parallel parking when trying to get close to the curb.

Sports Chrono is worth it for the customizable Individual setting. It just saves some button presses each time I get in the vehicle.

I thought I’d miss SC in my ‘23 S but I’ve found over 90% of my daily diving is in Comfort mode. I do use Pedal Commander in City +3 but have rarely used Sport mode. Maybe it’s my age.
I do use Surround View and appreciate my rim’s being undamaged.

Sports chrono if you want the best fast driving options - Sport + - and, more importantly, the button on the steering wheel that let's you choose driving modes. Otherwise you are hunting the haptic button on the console to change driving modes. I change driving modes ALL THE TIME. Into Sport + for max acceleration, Sport for most driving, Normal for highway just hanging.
I also have Surround view, and it's a nice to have, but the iteration in the Macan is just pretty poor compared to other cars I have had, and I'm talking Honda and Mazda, as well as Mercedes. In those vehicles, there are lots of lines in the picture to tell you where you are and how close things are, the Macan just doesn't have that level of detail in Surround View. Another crappy tech iteration by Porsche, no surprise there.
Ironically, before I got my GTS I didn't think Sports Chrono was a must have, and I thought Surround view was. Just the opposite now. But if you can, get both.

I havent driven the newer ones, do they not have the joker button on the wheel controls anymore? My Macan didn’t have the extra lever/chrono, but I could toggle on/off sport without taking my hands off the wheel. I never really used sport + or eco, so just a quick change between normal and sport was sufficient, though I agree the wheel is nice. I do have to take my hand off the wheel to use it, so even in my Taycan I have sport assigned to the joker.

I can say when I ordered surround view was critical as a base macan I added the s wheels in gloss black with brushed aluminum and I didn’t want to accidentally damage my wheel. When I get close to a curb I slow down and manually turn on the 360 camera which is really sharp and precise. Best money spent. Although I do at times wish I added sports chrono and the pse exhaust but I can live without it as it the base has enough pep for me
