I disagree with me also. I jumped to an unfair conclusion. Now that I further examine it it is a well made product with nice felt backing.

I chose Heat Shield from Amazon for $40.00. It is custom fit for our Macan. Further, and most importantly, it protects more than the Porsche sun shade which I first tried. Further still, I have a V1 with blend mount (radar detector mounted on the rear view mirror) and the flexible Heat Shield sun shade allows me to bend it around the V1 whereas the Porsche sun shade does not. Lastly, to easily store the Heat Shield, roll it and use the attached velcro strap.

Enjoy your Macan!!

Update on X-Shade. Used ~ 10 months now. Daily. The pouch is a tight fit & the seam on one end is beginning to come apart. (The pouch, not the sunshade itself.)
I emailed to company to ask them to send me a new pouch. They sent me a coupon code for 100% discount (free) for a new Sunshade + pouch set.

Re those who store sunshades in passenger footwell. Isn't the carpet ...dirty? Debris from passenger feet? So, won't you spread that debris all over your car?

When I suggested the floor behind the driver, I meant if you mostly have no one sit there. I frequently (3x/week?) have to at least shake to my driver floor carpet. It constantly gets little pebbles & debris from trees, etc. I would never take my carpet & raise it to chest height & then shake it vigorously, distributing any & all debris all over the Macan interior. Isn't that effectively what happens with a sunshade stored on the carpet? (Unless you rarely have a passenger.)

What is wrong with the passenger map pocket? Easy to reach, keeps shade off the dirty floor?
Icono you asked about the shade becoming dirty from being stored in the pass. footwell, then in turn causing the dash to become soiled or dirty.

Not an issue here as the footwell remains clean or on that rare occasion when it's not, I fold the shade & store it behind either of the front seats in the passenger footwells.

FWIW I'm also aware I could have bought a cheaper sun shade but I subscribe to the buy once, cry once school of thought on most issues. In a $70K+ vehicle I feel the $58. spent on the shade is not a large expenditure in the grand scheme of things.

YMMV certainly applies here as most often is the case.

I'm not trying to denigrate the choices for those who opted for Porsche brand or other relatively expensive sunshades. I'm sure they are good. If I thought that a $60 or $100 sunshade would keep heat out better than a cheap one, I would have already purchase it. It is HOT here ;) It was just 119 degrees F. Now it has cooled down to ~ 110. I just never found any issues with the clam shell style that folds like a taco (Like the one I bought & recommend) Cardboard ones that fold like accordion seem to wear out & tear. I also do not see an advantage to insulated or thicker ones, even though I am sure they feel better as you use them. They may take up more room & I am highly skeptical that they perform any better keeping heat out. What I looked for & found was one that completely covers the entire windshield easily. No gaps with hot AZ sunlight peeking through near the mirror or if you cover R side edge well then the L side has a gap, etc. Re insulation, I could maybe buy into this if it were outside the car. But it seems just plain silly to think that you will "trap" heat between the inside of your windshield & the sunshade! When you remove the shade....where do you think this trapped heat will go? Sunshades should REFLECT the light/heat from the sun like a mirror. If one could apply a very thin, highly reflective film to the inside of the windshield, so there were no gaps at all it would be near perfect! Of course it would take an hour to apply & 15 minutes to remove each time & make a mess with soapy water & squeegee! (For those of you who have applied such semi permanent films to your home windows.)

I have a generic double wire hoop shade that folds down. (With my company logo no less) fits well enough on my Boxster, but could be a tad bigger. I use it whenever I don't have covered parking. When folded, I slip it between the passenger seat and the central armrest. I gave up on the pouch on day one.

I have the folding cardboard one, but it does get physically hot to touch, and required storage behind the passenger seat.

The silver cloth and hoop one takes seconds to snatch, unfold, and secure with visors.

I got the weathertech sunshade and am extremely happy with it.. its insulated, reflective on the front for summer and black on the back so you can reverse it in the winter for keeping the windshield frost free. Very easy to put in and take off and stores with its own velcro. The only complaint is that it sets off my laser detector some how when the sun hits it when stored in the back, but I guess that would be any silver one.

Why is your laser detector powered on when car is off/parked?

Interesting claim re black side facing out keeps frost off windshield. Is there any evidence for this. I don't have below freezing weather where I live, just curious. I would have guessed silver side out would be best in cold weather as well, since it would send the solar radiation/heat back out through the window for a second pass so to speak.

Not sure what you are asking to be honest, but the Radar Detector (at least the one I have) stays on for a while after you shut off the car due to the fact that Porsche powers its 12V plugs even when car is off. However, I was saying that while I am driving and the sun hits the stored shield in the back, its sets off the Laser detection while driving... at least thats the only thing I can think that is doing it and when I store it down in the footwell it doesn't happen.

No evidence regarding black side of shield, just the marketing from weather tech. I think it makes sense though since the black would absorb the heat and keep it on the glass... not sure though. I live in NC and we do get some ice and frost, but my GTS will likely never see any of it in the garage... lol.

I’ve been following this for a long time, could not decide if the few occasions my Macan is parked outside it would be worth buying a shade.

I measured my Macan windshield, it’s 27” H X 51” W.

I came across this at Amazon and decided it was worth buying, even if I only use it once. Yes, it’s a wallet crushing $5.79 :)and free shipping with Prime and appears to be ideal size.

The material outside the two circles is soft, and therefore trying to cover the edges of the windshield is a challenge (there is tension within the circles)

I'll post here once the shade arrives. Even if it's not a perfect fit I assume 80% 95% coverage and blocking hot sun is an upgrade over nothing.

I never park in the open, Macan stays in my garage but for the pittance this shade costs it's worth throwing in the area where the spare tire resides should the need arise.

You answered my questions, thanks. Strange but that makes sense re the detector being powered on after you shut off the ignition for a while. (I will soon hard wire mine so that does NOT happen--it is annoying.

I'm skeptical re reversing the sunshade. You could try it both ways this winter & report back to help others who live in cold country.

It's the time of year to open up this thread again.

Think I'm going to order the Heat Shield from Amazon for the reasons Speeder outlined above (see post #90 ).

Anyone see any new shades that have come to market in the last year that would be worth mentioning?

2 years and 104 (now 105) posts later, this thread I started lives on...

Someone put it out of its misery!

I never did end up getting a sunscreen, mainly because it's a pain putting in place with my Blendmount and Passport hanging off the rear view mirror...

In case anyone is interested in the HeatShield, it's about 13% less on Jet.com versus Amazon.
