Extremely useful spreadsheet, courtesy of another thread on here. I haven't turned off the hatch warning beeps (because it will eventually conk me in the head if I do), but I was able to change several other parameters listed in the spreadsheet on my 2020 with the X431.

 

There seem to be various versions/models of the X431. Which is recommended for the programming on the spreadsheet? Thanks

 

@engenity: A little searching would have located the information you seek in the Hidden Features thread.

Another approach is to simply unplug the connector to the little speaker located inside the rear lid.

Probably everyone knows this, but when inside sideview mirror housing I found puddle lights. Leave lighting switch on auto and voila!

 

What magic chariot do you have? My '18 does not have such a feature.

 

This is part of the 2015-2016 Comfort Lighting Package which appears to be optional on our 2016 Turbo build sheet at $325 (see my build sheet linked to p code in my signature). The only thing this package does not convert to LED are Door Puddle (Position) lights so I had to get them after market (VW LED lights) and then it is a complete LED package. Exterior Mirror lights turn on when light switch is in Auto as part of the so called Welcome Home feature where you can program how long the exterior lights stay on. I have used this since day one after reading the manual.

The comfort lighting package comprises dimmable ambient lighting in the door panels, LED lights in place of bulbs, practical LED reading lights for the rear passengers, two vanity lights, additional courtesy lighting in both exterior mirrors and LED illumination of the footwells.

 

I have the comfort package, okay, if it’s an incandescent. It’s coming out .

It’s a sealed unit, not a lot out there that’s not OEM, but it looks like it’s LED

Comes on auto when you walk up to car ?

 

Light switch on auto, car is asleep, press the unlock button on your remote. These lights come on with all the other "welcome" lights.

 

Anyone knows how to get to the Nav and legal disclaimers on X431 ? thx

 

It's in PCM. The spreadsheet says:

VW Coding Value Textual-Bit field (4)-byte_23_Initial Disclaimer		Off		For older models with PCM3, disable initial disclaimer
VW Coding Value Textual-Bit field (4)-byte_23_Legal Disclaimer		Off		For older models with PCM3, disable navigation disclaimer

 

Hi, Yes I saw that...but in PCM...how do you get to those coding lines ?

 

Use the search feature, search on disclaimer. If you don't have PCM 3, then you may not have these options (judging by what the spreadsheet says).

 

I did search on disclaimer....and legal...no go.....hmmm Who added that one ??

Just found out that if your engine is stopped with start/stop you can wiggle the steering wheel to start it without touching the break pedal.

Apologies for a naive question, the X431; this scan tool comes up as rather cheap on EBay, & looks like it wouldnt do vehicle function coding.
Please confirm details for the X431 in discuission so i can get on the same page as you. Tx

 

I'm using an X431 V Pro, many others use the Pro S Mini. These models definitely do coding.

 

thanks, can I ask which brand please, because a search in eBay brings up all sorts of brand variants for the X431. Tx

 

Launch is the brand, X431 is the software I believe. The others are likely Autel and similar and probably just use the x431 term to gain hits

On the x431, it shows Porsche code version 23.82

System Selection -> PCM -> Code brush Hiding -> Brush Hidden/Modified -> Search for Coding Items -> type in "discl" and hit enter

Have you updated your x431? I know your Porsche version is 23.82, but what about all of the other downloads?

The "software upgrade" option within the app. The same place that would upgrade the Porsche code. Sounds like you're already doing that, but wanted to check.

For instance, I just checked my unit and I've got the following updates to perform:
-Firmware upgrade program
-AutoSearch
-several manufacturer updates
- TPMS Reset Database

Okay so I enabled pdls+.on my 2018 S a few weeks ago and it's working great. There is something weird though and I'm not entirely sure if the two are related but I could have sworn that before I enabled pdls+ the green lights on indicator above the odometer was always on permanently when I had the lighting switch in the auto position. I'm now noticing that that light goes out when it is bright outside almost like it is now photosensitive in the auto position. I just can't remember if this was always the case or if this was somehow enabled through pdls+

Is the green indicator you are referring to the indication of headlights on? The only green indicator I have above the odometer is the one that indicates when the headlights are ON.

This indicator would be permanently on if you have the headlight switch in the ON position all the time, with the headlights being on.

The behavior you are describing is consistent with the switch being in Auto. When bright outside, the headlights turn off, and in turn that green indicator is off. Has nothing to do with PDLS+.

But, I may be missing your point. We might be talking about two different things. Can you post a photo of the green indicator?

 

I run in Auto mostly......when I start up in garage.....headlghts are ON and Green dash icon is ON. As soon as I pull out into the sun, they both turn off.

When the green goes off this indicates the auto headlight switch has turned off the lights. This is the way it has always been on my '18 S.
