This is not a Launch problem. PIWIS does the same thing. The specific Gen I option to change the HBA speed setting simply is not available for Gen II/III. The question is: is there another option we’re not aware of that would work for Gen II/III?
The Launch is not updated to correct version. Also piwis that people are using are clones and not official versions and are usually outdated. After doing much research it seems the most solid and up to date coding machine which has all functionality is the autel.

I will plug in the autel and see if this option is on there.
If the option is not in PIWIS, it’s not going to be in Launch or Autel, but I do appreciate you checking (I’ve been wrong before, and will be wrong again). As my PIWIS is less than 6 months old, and does not show the option when connected to my car, and it does show the option when using the simulator and connecting to a Gen I, I know the problem is not my version of PIWIS.

So after reading the last couple of pages, I crawled under my 2022 S and found what look like electronic valves attached to the outer exhaust pipes. I'm assuming this means PSE is mechanically there and I just need to enable it via coding?

@Sammy Which Autel unit are you using? I may need to buy one just to do this. I was thinking of retrofitting exhaust but this is just awesome news that it seems to be there but just not turned on :)

When enabling sport mode the valve opens up. PSE is a different muffler system I believe with a second valve too. With Piwis you can at least enable the button to just open the exhaust valve without putting the car in sport mode

  • Tried Performance Display(have enabled & can get it to display, but can't get the trackball to display)
While I agree this is mostly fluff, it is fun to use occasionally in the Boxster, so thought I'd enable. I have the same issue, plus:
- the range is to 10k RPM
- the indicator ball never moves

Anyone ever solve this, I noticed tons of values in the Performance display section in coding, but have not fiddled yet.

Sorry for posting this, but I felt people should know.

If you try to renew your Launch subscription via "Auto Softwares" (on WhatsApp), be aware the he ripped me off. Took the money and ran. I'm an idiot for trusting him, and he's a jerk.

Caveat Emptor
(Mods - if I am violating the rules, my apologies and feel free to delete this)

RE Performance Display, I figured I would dig in myself using my Boxster which has the display enabled as part of Sport Chrono. What I discovered is that inside the Instrument Cluster section (in the X431), there is a Performance and Torque Indication section, that is essentially the graphing data points for the display. What I determined:
  • Initial settings were all over the place and had no logical pattern for mine (see before pics)
  • N1 – N21 are RPMs, from 0 – 10,000 in 500 RPM increments, and N1 = 0 rpm, N2 = 500 rpm, N3 = 1,000 rpm etc. Also, the used portion of the mapping range corresponds to the Tach RPM limit, and finally, a value of 255 = ignore this entry
  • Using my Boxster as a reference, I determined each data point is the HP or Torque at that RPM, entered as a whole number as a percentage of Max HP or Torque – I found some data here that helped.
  • The Economical map range describes the green chart area for best fuel economy, and RPM is the 5 data points you can choose. Each Y# Max and Y# Min is also entered as a percentage of max HP and should be less than the graph percentage (meaning if Power N5=2,000 RPM and pct of max power is 40% the eco display for 2,000 RPM, which in this case is Y3 Max, should be less, say 20% of max power). I am just guessing on the levels, but I figured I'd play around with the eco thing for fun.
  • The Over boost range is the same concept but includes a range 2 for 2 extra RPM items., but I turned that to “No” as it is not needed as I don’t believe these cars run over boost in stock form
  • Performance and Torque indication--PT1 damping for display damping (both displays) – the original value was set to 2.55 s[econds] where the Boxster is set to 0.1 s, which may explain why I thought it was not working (in addition to the wonky chart ranges set).
One fun fact is that if you have the Cluster screen set to the item you’re changing (e.g. set it to Power when changing power values) you will see the chart change as you write each data point. When I was done, I tweaked a couple of data points to make the chart look smoother on the dash display.

Pictures are original and changed data points for each section, wife confirmed "the little orange ball was moving", so I am assuming this is good to go :ROFLMAO:

Fantastic work @makeadeel , MANY have pondered how to make this actuality work :) , you made it happen, keeping this awesome thread alive !! congrats.
Let us know how the driving experience is with it.....helpful at all ?

great work on this. though am I correct in understanding that you "manually" mapped the power curve and then the orange "ball" will now accurately follow along the curve during acceleration?

There is a separate set of data points for overboost, yes.

And yes, I had to figure the percent of total and remap the graph with N# settings

However, I took the car out tonight and the marker moves with the rpm but not vertically, so I still have work to do it seems

Hello, all. I just purchased a 2020 Macan base, and I would like to adjust a few settings. For instance, I would like the instrument cluster light to stay on all the time since I think it is occasionally too dark to read. Also, I'd like to set the rear light bar so it is permanenly on. I traded a Q5 to buy this car, and in the Q5 you could use a dongle called an OBDEleven to change numerous settings, such as the gear number dispaly, scandanavian lighting, hatch lift delay, etc. You could even go into given modules and do long coding to change other settings. My question is, is there a scan tool that is able to do these kind of modifications? Or any garage that is willing to do them (I am currently in the Cleveland area but live in Colorado.)

Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated!

the maxisys 906

go into aircon unit, left side, then select number 5 and choose aga from the drop down list. This will enable the button.
While you’re in there if you have start/stop enabled then go into coding and select start/stop last mode and turn that to active. Now the start stop will remain in whatever option you selected when the car was last turned off instead of defaulting back to always on.

Just an update for all. I have spoken to Autel (really good after sales support) they have told me that the speed setting should be available for the hba. They are going to add it to the next update for the vehicle. They have confirmed it is available and is in “front end electronics” “extended lighting”.

Also i have managed to code the following handy things:
Boot close from d/s front door button
Boot close from fob
Boot re-lock after opening
Handbrake auto engage when key is removed

how did you get the trunk (boot) to close via fob?

also mine already closed from the front door button (just have to hold it down)

In rear lid, there is an option “close via fob” then enable “touch to close” (this will be hold the button) or “one-touch to close” (this will be a single button press). But first you must enable “acoustic close for fob”. The fob coding will fail unless the acoustic is enabled first. I think this is a safety feature. It will beep while closing. Same for the button in the drivers door, both options need to be enabled. All options are in the rear lid.

With the auto park brake when key is removed option. It takes around 2-3 seconds to engage when the key is removed.
Makes life much easier esp when in a rush, put the car in park, pull the key out, then by the time you open the door the park brake is enabled automatically.
