I have a 2019 Panamera loaner right now... the G Force display is available by default... it's a shame it's not that way for the Macan.
Yes, I activated those features as well... I don’t see much use to it, but it’s there and what the heck... I activated them. The G-Force meter is actually very cool though.

Also the automatic mirror retract, when pressing lock on the remote.

Now that my Macan is out of warranty, I started making a few modifications, and having fun with it.

wow!!! how did you activate this features? I have piwis 3 but I'm being playing around, but I can find how to do it..

Launch X431 Pro series Tablet can code Porsche to activate some hidden functions, I am talking about some more useful functions such as using key fob to open and close windows and roof, using key fod to close tailgate, playing video in motion

IDK if its really a hidden feature, new 2 week owner here, but finally got around to changing the diamond button on the steering wheel ( function button) to turn my Sports exhaust on/off. Wish you could program the key to sports exhaust on turn onbut can't. Much easier short cut

I think I can decipher a bit of what he is asking...

It appears to me that he is asking if he can recode certain control modules in the car, similar to what is very common in VW, Audi and BMW vehicles.

With the VW and Audi, you use a device made by Ross-Tech which is called VCDS, it will communicate to the car though the CAN-BUS. It can also be performed wth the VAS-6150C factory scan tool. BMW has similar electronic tools to make changes as well.

On the VW/Audi is is called "long coding" changes.

Common changes on the Audi's would be to roll the windows up and down with the remote, turn off the amber side marker lights, increase the LED brightness at night, remove warning screens from the navigation and enable the ability to watch videos through the DVD when the car is moving, also changing the number of turn signal blinks from 3 to 5 for the momentary switch.

I know for a fact that there are functions that can be changed with the PIWIS II, on my own Macan I was only interested in changing the vehicle ride height and did not look into any other changes.

I do not have a PIWIS II and have no interest in owning one for the Porsche, therefore I was able to get somebody who does have one to make my change for me.

It is entirely possible that the changes can also be made with a Durametric scan tool, I have access to a much older one that will not communicate with the Macan, so I just left it at that and went with a PIWIS II

According to the Durametric website version 6.5.1.1 and newer is able to communicate with the Macan, however I have yet to see language on their website which states that coding changes on the Macan are supported.

There is quite a bit of data that has been shared on how to make the changes in the BMW and Audi, due to the sheer volume of owners performing the modifications, but the Porsche community is a little bit different, the technicians that I have met are very protective of their technical knowledge.

Because I understand how the air suspension and the air suspension management system works (it is very similar to the Audi S6 I owned) I was able to communicate to my Porsche technician exactly what I wanted him to do.
Yassss finally someone who shares the same frustration.
Porsche Technicians are so stingy with their knowledge or sharing this to other owners that it makes the Porsche community not be able to grow.
Now I did find someone who rents them out on eBay for 10 days but we still do not know the codes or things we can do with it without community support from techs.

from the durametric web site. It says it supports the following but I do not see much coding support

Shout out to both @Santirx and @Ray_S! I’m visiting from the Panamera world. Nothing on our forums describing HOW to use the PIWIS 2 to lower through the air suspension. Thank you for the detailed play-by-play instructions of how to do it on the Macan. I can confirm it is exactly the same for the Panamera.

Thank you again gentlemen! I’ve been lurking in your world for a bit and you guys have a great “tone” on you forum. Cheers!

While those display functions are nice to have, the real fun started with my retrofits:

1. OEM backup cam
2. Upgrade PDLS to PDLS+
3. heated steering wheel (this one was the toughest I did)
What was the process to upgrade to PDLS+? I have a Macan with PDLS, dealer (not a porsche dealer) told me it had PDLS+

@burlow, one quick way to find out if it has PDLS+ is to look under the rear of the car at the diff assembly (that large finned aluminium housing between the rear wheels, if your mechanically challenged). The plus part of PDLS, is a locking differential which is enabled by an electronically switched solenoid which sits off the right hand (that's passenger side for LH drive) side of the diff housing just near the right hand drive shaft inner CV joint. It should have a couple of visible white labels on it. There is also an electronic module located inside the car, which is not readily accessible, just behind the left side storage bay panel, up about where the left rear seat top latch is.

I believe your confusing PTV+ (Porsche Torque Vectoring) with PDLS+ (Porsche Dynamic Lighting System)...

One is for power to the wheels/tires, the other is for lighting...

I think you're thinking of PTV. I'm talking about the high beam assist (PDLS+). It sounds like my vehicle has the ability (I'm even willing to pay retail for it) just need to find out the right tools to enable it.

Front camera is a prerequisite.

Coding required to upgrade from PDLS to „+“:

  • Front cam and cluster need to be coded to support dynamic Auto High Beam (which is the actual main reason to upgrade)
  • Front lights need to be coded to support intersection lighting (I don‘t recall exactly, possibly the same for front BCM)

That was it in my case...

Great thanks. Mind providing some info on what's needed to upgrade, software wise? My vehicle does have the necessary front camera(s) (park assist, rain sensing wipers). Is PLDS+ enabled through Piwis? thanks again.

burlow, the PDLS+ "High Beam Assistant" camera is behind the rear-view mirror. So this functionality cannot be activated without that camera. From the Porsche configurator:

High Beam Assistant
When a camera located inside the rear-view mirror detects the headlights of an oncoming vehicle, the high beams are automatically turned off at a distance of approximately 2,600 feet. If the taillights of a vehicle traveling in front are detected, the high beam is then turned off at a distance of approximately 1,300 feet.

That was my understanding of how it worked as well - I do have that camera, it is used for the rain-sensing wipers (and can also be used for PDLS+) I am trying to figure out the software needed to enable the high beam assist. The vehicle has the ability, the high beam assist package wasn't added at the time of the build.

There‘s different cameras, so you need one with high resolution and already active functions like traffic sign reading or lane assistant. Which cam is on board can be evaluated by comparing options and corresponding part numbers in PET.

if you have that, there‘s no SW required, just coding (e.g. w/ Piwis).

Park assist and rain sensing cam - I doubt it will be the right cam..

It does have lane keep assist, so I’m pretty sure it has the right hardware but I will double check. Other than that, I would just need to buy piwis 3 and configure? Almost sounds too easy

LED front heahlamps have been retrofitted to my Macan, and, i was told by an independent Porsche specialist which did all the retrofitting work that my Macan is PDLS+. The question is - how i can check if PDLS+ working properly? In my Boxster with PDLS+ i can see that the car automatically on and off the high beam depend on the how far vehicle traveling in front, but i can't see the same on my Macan.

It was indeed that easy but took me some hours of prep and research.
I had to do some x-checks on where the codings can be found in which ECU and what the HW setup was in my case. Plus, don‘t underestimate the time it takes to become acquainted with Piwis.
In my case, a Piwis 2 did the job (MY17), with Xenon headlights which do a nice job adjusting dynamically. I was positively surprised.
