Although some of these burns gave me a good chuckle (especially the lack of Rambo accomodations), i honestly feel bad everyone is ganging up on @trued. The cargo net costs 30 bucks on amazon/ebay. I didnt get one with my macan, but kept the one from my last car. Works perfect. Free .99. Also, your exhaust makes that 2L sound pretty mean. It might sound better than my stock turbo. I would take off the turbo badging though, its unecessary (with the race stripes/etc). And the windshield situation is an accident in the making.

Hey @Trued, a serious and sincere question here, please answer. Does, or does not, your Macan (a base model, I believe) have hooks on the headliner just aft of the front seats, almost vertical from the outer back of the headrests. Does, or does not, it have hooks mounted high on the rear-facing side of the b-pillars? I have driven a base model loaner, but didn't pay any attention to cargo net hooks. European Macan's are equipped somewhat differently than US, I realize.

i'm clearly late to the party, i dont check the complaints subforum here since i'm super happy with my Macan S so far!!

This OP is a joke. He clearly hates his car. Thanks, on behalf of Porsche for the $$$ though!!!

This guy needs a PR guy to check his posts haha....

For entertainment's sake can we get an update of your car OP!!! Exterior and interior pics please!!! i love it.

Specifications and other similar details submitted by the manufactures are between others mainly to inform the eventual clients about the possibilities of such product so that those eventual clients understand well the qualities or lack of them and compare with similar products of other manufacturer before making final decision. The "Transports 1500 liters of cargo" is one of the specifications of Macan and it gives an idea as well as it permits to compare with other similar cars. Such information does not and should not entail "a safety problem" itself unless "voluntarily exaggerated". No need to load 1500 kg to Macan, even a single heavy item such as a scuba tank in the boot of any SUV is lethal to the driver in case of overturn unless not fixed properly. In such case, is it the fault of the manufacturer because it does not furnish the adequate fixing items? OR is it the responsibility of the driver to fix properly every heavy items in his car even on the side or back seat? Let's be reasonable and not entail far-fetched "safety blames" to a well reputed manufacturer from a simple "cargo capacity" information.

Sorry but you cannot be serious about safety or even close.

The front windscreen of your Macan is littered with LCD screens and other devices, these do nothing for safety but must detract from the 100% concentration you need on the task of driving and observing the road and surroundings.

In any case if you RTFM you will see plenty of advice about how to transport loads safely, Porsche therefore have it covered.

Porsche does it right, they let you specify what you need from their accessory range.

In the UK Macan we have manufacturer installed tie down brackets in the boot for securing loads.
You beat me to the punch!

This site, to its credit, is very liberal when it comes to allowing people to have their say. In this instance, I agree with you. I'm also glad you said it because I so desperately wanted to reply to the utterly slanderous and libelous nature of the thread title which is (not) backed up with such a specious claim that it harms the OP's credibility in almost anything he says. It also attempts to harm the reputation of a car company that is in the forefront of safety. Real shame.

Trued. I have been an expert in cargo securement for several decades, as shown by my list of legal clients, and participation with organizations like CVSA. You got it wrong dude. The driver is responsible for securing cargo and determining how to do so. According to the DOT regulations the requirements are performance based, not hardware specific. While these regulations are intended for commercial operators the courts have upheld the notion of the responsibility of the driver to securely load his vehicle. Boats flying off boat trailers immediately comes to mind.

As for Q5 cargo nets, additional option not standard equipment, at least that was the case on my wife's premium plus package 2018 Q5. By the way the fabric cargo space headliner is also a $229.00 optional add-on.

He has a point. Porsche also didn't provide a place to store my loaded guns, dagger collection or a vat of boiling oil yet they all fit in the back!!! this thing is a death trap. Glad I've been enlightened about just how unsafe the car is. It won't protect me from every stupid thing I may do in it?? What else? don't even tell me it won't prevent pregnancy!!

Yeah but the little cubby under my seat is just right for one of the spare mags for my Beretta 92!

Interesting postings from a raged crowd who really dislike any critizism on the Porsche brand. Some postings are at a middle school bullying level. Would like to see the real names of those people. Dare to stand up as a true genuine person. Act with a straight shine.
As for the question in this thread.
It seams to be a cultural differenting bottom of this issue. Swedish owners of Sportswagon's/stationwagons/Suv use their cars very much the same way us owners use a pickup truck. Very few has that kind of utility vehicles here. But you see all sorts of "exclusive" cars loaded with stuff rangeing from Ikea boxes to wood and garbage driving to our world unique garbage separation station. Swedes are used to the higher degrees of safety and expect a premium maker to adjust to the market demands.

bro, nobody cares about what you have to say about swedes or saabs. why are you so willing to bend over for them? the company is/was a failure. get over it. they weren't any more safe on the roads than any other car with a similar crash test rating. nothing outstanding about them, in fact, they were on or below par, seeing that they're not around anymore.

you come here playing the innocent victim when you STARTED THE THREAD SAYING PORSCHE CARS ARE UNSAFE with NO PROOF and just YOUR OPINION. what a joke.
you pretend you actually care about safety, safety about what? the tanks of chemical gasses you have flying around in your trunk? give me a break. why don't you worry less about the 0.002% of what you're scared of (a car crash causing your 5000lbs of metal cargo in your trunk flying around), and worry about whats in front of you while you're driving. take down your distracting toys on your windshield and keep your eyes on the road. that's safety.

now when are you going to sell your macan, your fake badging and buy a saab?

That's enough member bashing. OP, maybe you bought the wrong car. If you are unhappy, complaining about it in some online forum won't change a thing. No one here can make any changes to how the cars are produced. Take your complaint to Porsche Sweden. I don't think anything further good will come from this thread.

Aftermath: Cargonet and more...

Thursday this week I was with Porsche in Frankfurt for the IAA auto show. I was one of their guests and spent significant time in the Porsche VIP lounge. My questions on security was brought up with the German Porsche representatives. They are going to look into this and they agreed on the obvious inconsistencies in the safety systems. Will let you know more when thy get back. The show was great!

Thats great news! Ive been driving with a helmet on since I read the original unsafe macan thread ;)
In all seriousness, if they save 1 life. Its worth it.
