PDK Clutch Calibration - 2015 Porsche Macan S

I’ll be performing a periodic calibration of the PDK going forward. It is required that PDK fluid is changed for calibration. Hence, I’ll be performing this PDK clutch calibration after a fluid change. Although I’ll be performing a full calibration, only a clutch bite point recalibration / adaptation is recommended.

The clutch bite adaptation adjust clutch plates for any wear that might had occur in between oil changes.

A full PDK Calibration includes (1) calibration of the selector level position and transmission range sensor; (2) calibration of the distance sensors and (3) adaptation of the clutch bite points.

This video document my experience with the calibration process.

With the D1 Lite, I was able to perform:
Transfer Case Service
PDK Clutch Calibration
PDK Gear Calibration

This thing is so confusing sometimes, my tips are to connect it first to your home wifi and run all the multitude updates and install the multigig Porsche package. Account creation itself was a pain as well. Don't rip off the screen cover like I did, there's a screen protector under it that's supposed to come off separately.

Getting the car in the correct temperature range is also somewhat of a pain. During the clutch calibration process though, it indicated the overall process was a success but I wasn't sure because some of the in between produces errors but it keeps continuing.

Going to drive it a bit now to see if it has improved anything.

When you did the clutch calibration routine with the D1 Lite, did the software instruct you to the times you depress the brake pedal, and the times you don’t, as well as walking you through when to shift gears?

These tools are a must if you are a DIY in my opinion. Thanks for reporting back on the Otofix D1 Lite. Seems like is quite powerful. But what I read is it doesnt have bidirectional communication. You’ll have to get D1 to get that.

Just a follow up, I redid the Clutch Calibration routine after driving around a while. It passed with no errors this time.

what a difference! No more slight hiccups getting going from a stop. Previously it felt a bit like someone who has only learned to drive stick for 2 months getting going, now it’s butter smooth.

Using @Santirx excellent video as a guide, I just performed the following three transmission calibration steps with my new OTOFIX D1-Lite, which is an impressive little bit of kit, and well worth the investment if you DIY your Macan (or other vehicles).

(1) Calibration of the selector level position and transmission range sensor
(2) Calibration of the distance sensors
(3) Adaptation of the clutch bite points

The one bit of info I'd like to add to performing Step 1, which caught me out the first two times I attempted it, is when you execute the P ► R ► N ► D gear selector sequence, it must be executed fairly quickly, otherwise it will abort the process and give you an ERROR message, so keep a keen eye on the prompts, move decisively and the calibration will take place as designed.

Also, shifts were noticibly improved on my post calibration test drive.

T6...? Is that different than the vas 6154 or a different unit all together? I have a iCarsoft from other porsche's but doubt it would be able to do something this intricate. Mars suggested the VNCI PT3G for this exact issue ; problem is I don't want to wait weeks for one to ship oversees.

Hey guys, thx for all of your wisdom here. I have an issue, after I changed the PDK oils of my 207 Macan turbo, the calibration failed when I reached the "clutch bite point adaptation" all the other calibration procedures were carried out, but this one. Now the car drives but doesn't keep much revs, even in Sport + mode when it reaches 4,000 RPM shifts to a higher gear, where before it used to keep the revs to 7K. For example, before, when driving in 7th gear in normal mode, when Sport+ was selected, it was dropping to 3rd gear, but now it drops to 4th, so it doesn't feel as sporty.

I called the Porsche dealer, and they told me I could have broken the PDK, and if I bring it for diagnostic, I have to sign a paper that the car might need a new transition...I ma like what...

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated, on what I can do next to fix the issue. Should I try another PDK calibration or PDK reset I see in the forum?

What scan tool did you use? If it's a Launch or Launch clone like Topdon, the PDK calibration doesn't work. It does do something but from the times I have tried, it seems to just reset to baseline but fail the calibration no matter what you try.

Just take it easy for the next 50-100km. It will sort itself out but it will feather the clutch a lot on takeoff so don't drive too hard. I have tried manually shifting for a bit and that seems to shorten the self learning but takeoff always feathers the clutch a lot until it learns

Hey, guys thnx for all of your wisdom here. I think I broke my PDK 🥶 any help would be much appreciated.

After I changed the PDK oils of my 2017 Macan turbo, the calibration failed when I reached the "clutch bite point adaptation" all the other calibration procedures were carried out, but not this one. Now the car drives but doesn't keep many revs, even in Sport + mode, when it reaches 5,000 RPM, it shifts to a higher gear, whereas before, it used to keep the revs to 7K. If I press the pedal harder, it keeps the revs. It doesn't shift. For example, before, when driving in 7th gear in normal mode, when Sport+ was selected, it was dropping to 3rd gear, now it drops to 4th, so it doesn't feel as sporty.

And one of the most annoying parts is when in Sport+ mode, driving with 20 ml/h it used to be in the first gear, now it's in 2nd

Any suggestions are much appreciated

Doesn't the calibration reset the PDK to factory default settings?

If so, then all of the transmission adaptation to your particular driving style that had been completed prior to
the PDK calibration is likely to now be lost.

It is my belief that it'll take some number (?) of driving cycles for the PDK to re-learn your driving style and adapt
to your driving habits once again.

Good luck!

I have my PDK fluid service in 6k miles. I might have my local Porsche shop (not dealer) do it and have them do the recalibrate with PIWIS. Alternatively, I'll see my Porsche racing friends in a few weeks and might see if I can borrow a PIWIS or run over to their shop on night after work. I am sure they have one for the race car.
