I am having a hard time choosing between PASM or Sports Chrono, can anyone help me understand which one makes more sense and more value for the money.I would love to get that extra speed from Sports Chrono package but I have heard that PASM is more important, can experts please shed some light on this, really appreciate it.:)

In the simplest way, do you:

1. Have the urge at stop lights to accelerate as quickly as possible OR click a button and let the transmission use the top part of the HP curve? If so get SC (or if you want a cool stop watch in the center of the car).

2. Have the urge to go as fast as possible around curves and on/off ramps yet have the ability to click a button and make the suspension compliant on demand? If so, get PASM.

Of course there is more to it than that but that about sums it up.

Good luck

I forgot, best value for the money? Neither get the Pano roof or Nav. Those two options will add value to the car when its time to sell it. The two performance options will add nothing. I know people hate to hear that but such is life, especially on a SUV.

The Macan S without SC is plenty quick enough IMHO. So the extra acceleration/speed (in millisecs or 0.2 from nil to 60) isn't a huge difference for me at least, plus I doubt I'd use SC on a daily basis... I opted instead for PASM which is versatile everyday. The adaptability to soften or stiffen ride/handling is worth it IMO... love it on my C7 Z51 with Magnetic Selective Ride Control so I'm confident I'll enjoy the switchable damping just as much on the Macan S.

Putting it another way, I think the PASM enhances the higher speed handling (cornering etc.) whereas SC shaves fractions of seconds in acceleration due to faster shifts at higher RPMs. For normal driving or even spirited drives, the additional "speed" offered by SC is pretty insignificant. For me, I get more thrill from the handling than I do in straight acceleration. And the difference between Sport (without SC) and Sport+ was not important to me. [Plus, I think the timer on the dash is useless and ridiculous. I never found a use for it even when I autocrossed my 911.] I would not order the car without PASM, which gives you the 3 levels of suspension anyway. SC gives you the added level of remapped throttle, higher shift points, and slightly quicker shifts (which are already pretty darn quick).

Thank you all so much for your valuable comments, it definitely helps a lot making a decision, I was leaning towards PASM, but just needed that extra convincing:) PASM it is now:)

On a different note, I have heard that Macans shipped to North America already come with a clock on the dashboard as a standard, so not worried about that much even though it does look fancy.

Now that you decided that, you should know that your instincts are spot on as they are consistent with the intentions of Ferry Porsche.

I got neither. I don't think either is essential as I trust the base steel suspension will be good enough. I agree you need NAV, Premium package and Hitch - ONLY ESSENTIALS

I ordered both, but if I had to choose I would go with PASM.

Keep in mind thar Sport Chrono does more than just shaving a couple of tenths off 0-60 times. In sport plus mode the engine and PDK transmission become even more responsive, as does PASM settings. It does heighten the sports car feeling even more when behind the wheel. Can you squeeze in both?

Sc is just a bling button. It's unreasonable to drive in sc mode on the street. On a track day I'd use it, but I doubt it would change a laptime by much.

Yeah. Bit out of context with the Porsche guy, but bang on in turning fast laps. All racers know going in too fast crushes your exit speed. (Especially in a heavy awd). I think this Porsche guy stole the quote then made it his version.

Definitely PASM would come before PTV+ for me.

I ordered both...just didn't want any empty slots on the console. Seriously, if I could only get one of these two options it would definitely have to be PASM over SC.
