Paddle shifter extensions

Has anyone else looked into it ?

I have my hands at the 3&9 position and basically don't lift off. So on tight turns where I cross over completely I often find shifting cumbersome.

I did a quick search and amongst others found:

MACarbon
Expensive (700$)
Glue on
Out of stock

Agency Power
350$
Slip overs, so I wonder how solid they are. And they look bulky.

They are generally targeted towards the 911 crowd, but since the shifters are pretty generic I suppose they could also fit the Macan.

I was also surprised to see that the GT3RS has the same shifters as in any other P-car. Would have expected something a bit more track oriented made of carbon.

I had bought a set of such longer paddles from Amazon but the depression (where the double sided tape is supposed to stick to the rear of your standard paddles) was too tight and did not fit and I just didn’t want to invest time and effort. They looked a bit obtrusive to me anyway.

Does the added thickness make it difficult to slide fingers between paddles and stalk controls? I test drove a CPO BMW once with similar stick on paddles and found them quite annoying, totally different car though obvs. I went with AutoTecknic instead and love them, they do make a Macan version. They're not cheap but quality is top notch.

Yes, it’s a bit tricker - I have slim fingers so not as bad for me but i can see someone with fatter fingers being annoyed. Interestingly enough though I do not have the same issue on my Boxster.

i have these on the Macan, and they fit 10-2 4-8 positions perfectly, even when turning the wheel. Nice color red matches the garnet interior well.

What year is your Macan? I ordered something that looks similar to this but did not fit

Aha, ok, they won’t fit on the next gen Macans (2019 etc) , the paddle shift rods connecting the steering colum are located slightly higher and the paddle shifters are slightly Shorter at the top and longer at the bottom.

I've tried and failed with 2 different sets of paddle extensions. One red CF that someone else had installed. They look great in pics for me in person not my taste. So disappointing.

Then I just had the Agency Power ones delivered today...they are HUGE. It's too bad because the shade of red is great, I like the shape, and they are high quality aluminum for sure. I cannot believe how they obstruct the left and right gauge pods a little. The problem with all these paddles...there are usually a couple of pics that you really can't tell size and color. Disappointment #2

After trying to do this little mod for around $100-$130 I decided to bite the bullet and go for the Raceseng ones on the Flat6 website. ($260) They look like they will be the perfect size since there are plenty of installed pics as well as a YouTube video to truly see how they look installed. Oh well hopefully 3 times is a charm...if not 3 strikes and I'm out. I'll give up on this mod because I guess I'm too picky. lol

I installed a set from Raceseng and am pretty happy with them.

While I purchased them to help with more surface area, an unexpected benefit was an improved feel, even in center use, from the additional thickness added by these.

I was hesitant to buy extensions because for some reason, none of the manufacturers offer a matching bright polish finish to match the OE units. Since I installed a GT steering wheel that has more black, I thought the black units would fit in a bit better. I reached out to Raceseng to see if they can make a bright polished version to switch to.

I originally tried the T Carbon paddles but metal paddles feel much better and the printing of the + and - looked cheap and didn't match the rest of the high quality interior.

I think the same as you regarding polished paddles. I bought the black Raceseng paddles and stripped the anodising off, then polished them. Haven’t installed them yet.

The minus is faint, but there.
I put them in a small plastic container and sprayed them with oven cleaner. Takes a few minutes for the anodising to dissolve. Washed and dried them. Then used a small fabric polishing wheel, liberally coated with Brasso, in my drill press to buff them. That’s it.
Wear silicon gloves and don’t breath the fumes from the oven cleaner.
