Just purchased 2019 macan and trying to solve issue and have been playing hot potato between dealership and porche customer service on who and how to fix.
To further troubleshoot I ask a favor🙂...can someone use their car nav.... need someone with 2019 or newer PCM for apples to apples comparison...... and then their phone nav ( preferably Google maps) and route from same start to same destination and see if routes match or if phones nav consistently gives much quicker routes?
I have tested this on multiple trips where I'm going form my local state to location in a another state ( i.e Atlanta to North Carolina) etc.
Initial scenario based on recent road trip....Phone gives me a route through South Carolina that makes total trip 4:40 long verse car gives quickest route as 5:42 min long and does not route me through South Carolina at all. The reason I bring this up is GA and NC have 2021 in the naming convention in database tables and originally said 2018. They appear to have updated online through internet through nav+ package. All other states still say 2018 including South Carolina.
In speaking with Porsche reps their saying that doesn't even matter if you have nav+ package.... only if you don't because they are static map updates that would require updates via dealership.... but nav plus is direct connection so its not referencing those tables. Not sure which is true but possibly if it is referencing 2018 SC maps the road it's taking me to get to end destination in North Carolina wasn't their in 2018 and why it's not an option🤔
so everyone I have spoken to agrees they should match....car nav and phone nav because both powered by Google. But porche customer service says dealership to perform PCM update and dealerhsip says dont waste you time coming in, nothing we can do for you. If you car is correctly connected to Porsche connect which they have validated then they just display in car what porche connect sends and it's a Porsche connect issue.
I feel like I understand the the tech better than they do now but unfortunately not how to fix it.
Thanks in advance for any kind person willing to help me troubleshoot my theory.
