I had a Sport Plus retrofitted earlier this year and mechanically everything works as described but I never saw an upgraded Sport Chrono screens on PCM or MFD... it's MY17 Macan S... tech guy at the dealership said that it was everything that came with the "package". Am I missing something or US retrofit kit is different from European one?

I just got off the phone with Porsche of Westwood here in MA. I have a 2017 Macan S. I asked if my vehicle can be upgraded with Apple Car Play. I was told, no way, no can do, not a chance. I explained to them that there's a whole discussion about it on a forum. They said again, not possible. Am I missing something here? Is there a secret code word??

Have your dealer see the part on Suncoast site - https://www.suncoastparts.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=P&Product_Code=SKU95BAPPLE

Our SA accidentally forgot to add in the build for our 2018 Macan S, our original request for the Porsche Car Connect. We were not billed for it, but to add this now as an aftermarket it was upwards of $7k USC.
So the next best option was to add the Apple car play. To have it added at this point, the dealer told us it was almost $2k, but we are getting charged $1k for the install. Not sure on the cost thing, since SunCoast charges $800 for the kit and dealer labor here is $149.00 an hour. They had to order parts to do the retro fit, not sure exactly, but I hope to find out later this week.

I will advise once I get the car back.

Well, we picked up our car this morning for the Apple car play install. All I can say is that it works perfectly. The dealer had a difficult time getting info from Germany to do install. The hard parts arrived pretty quickly, I say the box and it was rather small (kinda small ladies shoe box size). I did not open the box, but I could see the laundry list of part #s on the outside of it.

The SA said it took the tech over 6hrs for the install of hard parts. So for us, the 1k was worth it, plus no having to get the system updated every few years if we went with Porsche Nav. is saving us $$$$ in the long run.

Thanks for the information.
6 hours labor is roughly $1K, so with the SunCoast kit it sounds like full price would be about $2K.
I do find the # of hours hard to swallow. That are just taking off the steering wheel and replacing a stalk. Modern cars are meant to be plug-n-play , especially components like that with easy access.

6 hours was a bit too much. My dealer took 3 hours for the installation of CarPlay this Wednesday and the the software was $621.45 for the license key.

Thanks for the update. Did you order everything through your dealer?
My dealer is still playing coy on labor hours I would be the first person to do it.

I showed my service advisor suncoast website and he proceeded from there. I was the first one in Buffalo to request this install and the tech said it was a breeze.

From my understanding the answer is "no".
I received the same response from my dealer.

The PCM (3.1) in my MY16 needs replacement, and I had asked the dealer if a 4.0 unit could be installed, and they said it's not compatible with pre MY17 Macans.

I believed Suncoast has advertised CarPlay for PCM 3.1 too. But as you found out your dealer is the biggest road block. If you really want CarPlay I would suggest have your service advisor or tech call Northtown Porsche in Buffalo and they will find out how easy it is and profitable for them. After using CarPlay for a few days I am glad I got it. Read back texts, Apple Music, NAV and Siri is actually decent. IMO CarPlay should be included as standard equipment for car of this caliber. BTW don’t let “yrralis1” know because this is a real case of UNProsche Like![emoji43][emoji849][emoji16]. However since I am a Apple Fanboy this is a must have option[emoji851]LOL!

John, unless I’m missing something, what Suncoast is selling is for the 4.0 PCM rather than the 3.1 PCM. I looked at their website again a few minutes ago. What is making you think that your dealer can install CarPlay on 3.1? Thanks.
