It is an internal problem with the transmission, not the Transfer Case.
Possibilities:
The #1 Gear Position sensor is defective (Mechatronics).
The Gear #1 shift servo or fluid-valve solenoid is defective (Mechatronics).
The Gear #1 shift rod is being pushed out of its position after the servo moves it, due to a worn gear, shift-fork, or synchro problem in the gearbox portion of the transmission.

Try changing the fluid and filter, to see if the problem persists. Probably won't solve your issue, but worth a try before pulling out the Mechatronic unit. There are some repairs (replacement of the PCB1 and PCB2) that can be done on the Mechatronic unit, rather than replacing the whole assembly.

2015 Macan Turbo P2737 pressure control solenoid F control circuit range performance. Have you seen this specific single code? Can you replace 1 solenoid only? Should I replace the circuit board kit on the valve body? Do I just put an refurb entire valve body in? Would a fluid change really correct the issue?

The board kit, with the two valves, is not what you need. The two valves included in the kit are the clutch control valves N436 and N440 (not the same as the Pressure Control Valve N472). You can buy cheaper board kits which do not include the clutch valves.

1) First try a fluid and filter change. Might help, but can't hurt.

2) If that does not help, then remove the Mechatronics unit and replace the Main Pressure Control Solenoid N472. But, you should also replace the 2 circuit boards, as they are supposed to be one-time use only (After you unplug them, they are not to be reused). You need to unplug the lower board to replace N472.

3) If that does not help, then the problem might be with the mechanical pressure regulator valve, which is known to wear out the bore. The only way to fix that is to rebore the valve, and install an oversize valve plunger.

4) The most expensive but perhaps quickest way to fix this is to buy a rebuilt valve body (without a TCU), and swap your old TCU onto the new valve body.

And what were your symptoms of bad PDK behavior?

When the engine was at maximum temperature, slowing in to 1 rst there was a clunk and hesitation. It did this going into reverse as well. Running Sport mode it wouldn’t do it.
Then I got a Reverse not poss message 6 months later. Turned the car off, put it in Sport before shifting, no error. At that point with things cascading I knew it was time to check the mechatronic.
A bud has done 7 of these for folks. The loss of the gasket material causes a pressure loss. He checked all the electronics including taking the cover off the TCU to make sure no oil had gotten inside. There’s 2 small and 1 large metal filters in the housing. The big filter had caught a lot of the lost material. Everything looked clean so he just replaced the gasket rather than the entire unit. Did a calibration and perfection!

Hello. I have a 2015 Macan S with 70,000 miles. I ordered a special Macan that had to be built due to some extra options I wanted so I’m the original owner.

I started having issues between 2nd and 3rd gears and the Porsche dealership said it is due to the mechtronics and that I need a new one. I’m just curious if this is common?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Yes. A yellow alert with something about transmission but pos to drive.

Unfortunately, without the exact fault codes, there’s not much that can be pointed to as to the culprit as pertains to the mechatronic. There are many possible failure points, some more simple than others to fix.

Do you have, or know someone (outside of the dealer) with a scan tool who can scan for the codes? Or do any of the codes appear on the dealer receipt for the diagnosis?

Hello VAGfan - I was having no R and loss of even gears on my 2017 Macan base with 95k miles. Had a mechanic install the full repair kit with solenoids and the problem is fixed. I now have a slight judder coming to a stop from gear 2 to 1 (only in normal mode - Sports mode is ok). Which calibrations will I need to perform?
I could only do “removal and installation of mechatronic” - which goes well (option 3). The calibration for replacement of mechatronic components (hydraulics - option 2) does not go through. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong. I use foxwell NT530 Elite.
also my TCU software version is 0022. Does updating the software could fix the issue? Really appreciate the help and your expert guidance.

Not sure I can help you with that, seems that getting the calibration procedure to complete is a common problem. Try searching thru the Audi forums and Youtube for DL501 / OB5 transmission calibration info. The most popular application of this transmission was in the "B8" and "B8.5" Audi S4 model.

Santrix, here on this forum, is a good resource for running the Cal procedures. Search for his posts.

FWIW, I found the timing of performing the steps in the first part of the calibration to be critical while carrying out the calibration, or it doesn't complete. I used an OTOFIX D1-Lite in my case. Below are my notes from my experience.

PDK Clutch Calibration/Adaptation procedure:

Choose option #2 on list of 4 options.
That option will conduct ALL three adaptations/calibrations.

Transmission fluid temperature must be between 45°C — 60°C

First Calibration Step:
Transmission-range sensor

NOTES:

The brake pedal must be pressed when changing gear from P to R to N, but NOT pressed from N to D

The sequence must be executed methodically and fairly quickly, otherwise it will abort the process and give you an ERROR message, so keep a keen eye on the prompts.

• Key on, parking brake engaged, engine off
• Display says to be in P
• Press brake
• When prompted to move to D, in one smooth motion, one after another, with foot on the brake, click from P… to R…to N… then without pause – RELEASE BRAKE – and move gear selector once more to D, all steps in one smooth sequence, slight pause (1 sec.) between them.
• It will then perform calibration
• At prompt, you will move lever one position up to N (still no foot on brake) then it will finish the step...
• Software will then tell you to move back to P
• Proceed to next calibration steps

I am using Foxwell NT530 Elite - it does not prompt me to move to D. I do get the prompt to move to P. Perhaps that's the problem - one missing step. I will purchase Otofix D Lite and try with that one and see how it goes.
