Once she gets a Macan then the clock starts for my upgrade to a GTS 4.0 :)
Then get the 2.0 now to save some money for the 4.0 definitely! Slower daily cars will make you appreciate your weekend drive even more.

I appreciate all of the wonderful responses so far but thank you, this one really resonates. Do we really need a 375hp SUV? I'm mostly excited about the brakes. Audi brakes suck
Please don’t blame me if you regretting not getting a S based on my comment 😜 but when you going to a have a 4.0 you will have your „real“ Porsche sportscar anyway and your wife a well specced agile daily.
For me it’s this way with the Macan:

If you want a Porsche but it should be a SUV - take a S.
If you want a SUV but it should be a Porsche take the Base/T.

Show us your spec btw. :)

Get the S, I have an S (or my wife does) and I love driving it. I do look at all the GTS’ and wonder what if? But I take solace from the fact it has the same engine, sort of and is a fair bit cheaper.

Saying that, I have never driven a T, or a base, or a GTS.

We also decided to get a T over an S. The reason behind it: we have two 6 cylinder Porsche in our garage. One manual cayman und one PDK Boxster S. We didn't want to cannibalize the two cars with the new one. Both sports cars (and their 6 cylinders or performance) should remain something special. The Macan S would have put them both in the shade, but we wanted a Daily as a Porsche, so it became the T. Arriving in April.
The T and the S are close enough in price that a sneeze might push one above or below the other. There isn't enough savings to justify another entire car from it .
Every car is an island unto itself . If you start fusing car prices together you will go mad .

If the OP was not concerned about power then any of the cars are good. They ket word in his first post was a worry about "REGRET" . That stood out to me .

Yet in our T configuration it was about 8.000 USD difference to a S. More than a sneeze for us!

You have produced no identical builds . 8K in Porschelandia is a sneeze .
8K will not pay for a second car .

Cant put a price tag on the word "regret" .

The T may still be his best choice , No way to know without actual builds .

I have a 2023 Macan S and have driven the Macan T and Base Macan several times over the year as loaners and my wife drives an Audi Q5 which has the same engine as the base Macan. For driving around town in a urban area the Base/T is fine option but I really think that if you are doing highway driving that is when you really notice the difference if you are trying to take over another car to pass. The Base/T is considerably better gas milage but if you are looking at a Porsche I am assuming the price of gas is. It a big decider.

I’m really trying to understand why anyone thinks the Macan base is not capable of passing another car on the highway, how fast must the car you’re trying to pass be going ? I cruise at 75-80 on our interstate and have never had an issue passing another vehicle. Now if that vehicle was doing 90-100 then that would be a problem for the base……..but when would that ever happen. Give the Base a break, it’s a fully capable highway vehicle.

The S/GTS just has a much faster rate of acceleration at faster speeds and you barely need to push the petal to do it . Yes you can do the same thing with the 4 cylinder but you really need to get on the gas pedal to do it. The Base/T has a very little boost delay not case with the GTS/S.

I had an 18' GTS but i went with T this time because the macan is mostly my fancy asian soccer dad car. I really do miss the power and growl of the GTS but it is satisfied every time i get into my 986S or 991 GTS. After a year owning the T (one of the first allocations in NY area) I have come to accept that it's still a great daily driver and still feels so much better than my friend's Q5 or a CRV

The 18 car and todays Macan ate different . I had both . The new GTS is a sweet SUV . Its after than the former Gen turbo and dead even with the Turbo PP yet is mapped and has suspension set to GTS level dynamics . The 18 car in contrast had a great engine sound but was slow in comparison . It is still faster than a T though . Yet the 18 car is dated . That middle AC vent sucked !! I think Porsche read my posts !! They changed it !

I just want to comment I went from a 17 Macan GTS PTV air suspension, to Sport Turismo with air, RWS, and just picked up a base without Air suspension. I didn't realize it rides bouncy in wavy crappy roads like my GLB35 and my GRC. Personally regreted not getting burmester on the GTS and now regret not having the air suspension. Your wife would enjoy the better ride.

If i were to spec a T for my wife i'd get. Base cloth seats( never tried but i loved the cloth on GT3 touring) I do not know if driver memory seats is still standrad but if only one driver who cares. Base wheels since bespoke. Maybe free color panel depending on color of car and i like aluminum trim better since doesnt' scratch.

Payable option i would suggest
1. air suspension ( so much better ride)
2. thicker glass to make more quiet for wife
3. Bose at least or radio doesn't annoy.
4. Lane change assist since SUV
5. Depending on where you live maybe park camera

Macan's LKA with cruise is crappy. The toyota is better and keeping the car between the lanes. This LKA feels like it's a decade old from 2017 and never updated?

Off topic but the Cayenne during the Porsche test drive track event the Cayenne drove very well like the macan. Perhaps the magic was in the PDCC, PASM air, and RWS? Too much $$ to make feel like a Macan T.

I have just ordered a Macan T for myself, here is my configuration : Macan T

I have originally wanted to buy an S, but was underwhelmed after a test drive. The handling on twisty roads was not as sharp as I wanted, even though I loved the power and engine sound.

Then I test drove the T and it handled much better on B roads, and was sufficient for short motorway trips. It doesn’t have the V6 sound and instant power, but it feels much nimbler going around the bends.

I also drove the GTS for a few days and I fell head over heels in love with it.
Sadly it’s over my budget right now. It’s the complete package and I hope I will own it some time in the future, it’s simply fantastic.

I watched a review of a car the other day with a person narrating was a woman who said that she felt so in love with the car. She was ready to give up a kidney to have it. She went on to explain how much it cost to have this car. It is an emotional tug-of-war no doubt.

I didn't drive either with my wife but I have had base and S loaners and Im sorry if this offends anyone but the base drivetrain is junk. The S is like a different animal. The T drives like the S just sounds like crap

Yeah, that wasn’t offensive at all. Guess you’re the new expert on Macans. Thanks for your opinion, but next time keep it to yourself.

The base and the T are quite similar. The difference is the graphics and some of the options that are offered. You get exclusive, upgraded wheels, wheels, and mirrors. I thought you would even get air suspension but I learned on a recent post that you don’t. They did give it on the sport edition , which was the carp before the T .

My biggest issue with all of your posts is that you are having doubts about the power and you don’t have the car yet. That is not going to go away. You know in your heart that the GTS is the one. In the same breath, your wife would be quite content with one of the lower trims. Put up a build of where you are in your current car. You can’t go anywhere without that. If you want an essentials only build of the GTS I’ll be glad to do one. if you want modest build, I can do that too.

It’s very complicated walking into a Porsche dealership for the first time, sitting down and looking at all the different choices, and all the different ways of customizing them and feeling overwhelmed. I am not overwhelmed, because I have spent so many years on the configurator that it’s almost become a first language. When you read all my typos, you realize my second language is trying not to make them and hitting the right keys.
