Hi all, very excited to have joined and be a future Macan owner. We have ordered a Macan T and have 2 weeks to change anything. We test drove both. As crazy as it sounds, my wife couldn’t tell the difference so picked the cheaper T. i am worried we will regret it. Thoughts? Thanks!

The T is livelier. It has the T badge for a reason. Folks keep thinking about horses only, that only matters if you want to race in a straight line all the time. The T responds much more like a sportscar than the S does. The responsiveness is intoxicating. I feel folks who are negating the T have not driven it. That said, I would love to have more horses in it. When I drive on the highway other cars have a hard time weaving as I do, but when it's open they catch up and I'm like UGHHHH. Definitely fun to drive.

We also decided to get a T over an S. The reason behind it: we have two 6 cylinder Porsche in our garage. One manual cayman und one PDK Boxster S. We didn't want to cannibalize the two cars with the new one. Both sports cars (and their 6 cylinders or performance) should remain something special. The Macan S would have put them both in the shade, but we wanted a Daily as a Porsche, so it became the T. Arriving in April.

Please don’t blame me if you regretting not getting a S based on my comment 😜 but when you going to a have a 4.0 you will have your „real“ Porsche sportscar anyway and your wife a well specced agile daily.
For me it’s this way with the Macan:

If you want a Porsche but it should be a SUV - take a S.
If you want a SUV but it should be a Porsche take the Base/T.

Show us your spec btw. :)

So how fast do you need to go to the market, the doctors office, the bank? Do you have an autobahn near you? If not, as someone said earlier, drive your T in Sport mode and you’ll be fine….even your wife.

Re: brakes. If I put too firmly on my Base brakes it will put my into the windshield! Best and firmest brakes of any vehicle I’ve owned. She’ll be fine.

So you drove both, could not tell the difference and decided to spend less money by getting the T. If you end up getting the S, I suggest another post asking if you should get an S or GTS :)

I didn’t drive either. If I am going to a Porsche dealership and driving something it will be small lol

The T just sounds like what it is. The S sounds like a Porsche.

Point taken ... If we get an S then we need to start to think about a GTS. And now we are $100k
If you really want to know which one is the right for you, I suggest you drive both in as close of a setting to your daily driving. Its your money, so it should be your decision.

The T is known for being a little more agile, has plenty of low, speed pep , and has that unique exterior. Your wife probably didn’t notice much difference going stoplight to stoplight at lower speed. In fact the lighter Macan actually is pretty quick at the start. The big difference comes on a highway overtake where the extra horsepower of the S would be noted.

You can’t go wrong with either but if you really want to cover all bases it’s the GTS. It will have the power mated it to agility beating both of them .

Or….buy the T with no markings and buy the “Macan S” markings on line, get aftermarket exhaust loud system and double “S” style exhaust tips to make a fake “S”, save thousands of $$$ to put towards “your” new Porsche and she’ll never know. She’ll be happy, you’ll be happy….problem solved.

If she has the fax and figures of all the cars in front of her, I’m sure she could make a decision. It really may come down to the lower power engine being the perfect car for her. Keep in mind though even though it’s her car. It’s is somewhat both of their car because he’s going to drive it too.it is a lot of money the only way to really know where all this stand is to see what he has.

I’m a fan of the T, has been great for me so far. (air suspension, PASM, sport chrono, 20” summer tires, and even the noise insulated glass is another 19lbs lighter)
Did however get the sunroof and trailer hitch so not the lightest T you could build.

Enjoy the day to day drive and handling.

The T is 129 lbs lighter than the S, so equivalent to a second full tank of gas and 1/2 a battery over the front axle.

I agree that the hp on the highway is very lackluster.

So many choices to customize, you can really make it yours ( or your wife’s)

yrralis1, you need to understand it’s getting late, I had my evening cocktail and I’m trying to lighten up the discussion….and obviously failed. I know which Macan to buy is a big and costly decision, but they can’t go with either Macan they buy…….unless they plan on tracking it and then the T wins hands down, lighter, more agile, just enough power.

I like the T . I even did a review where I liked my base car loaner. I love the GTS. The other night some guy in a supra jumped on my bumper, and I took him all the way up to where I had enough without him passing me. You could never do that in a four-cylinder. I was even surprised at the Macan was able to do that. . Will his wife ever need this ? Nope although my wife did tell me, there was a woman in traffic who tried to bully her but couldn’t because my wife was able to catapult beyond the nonsense.
