I just placed an order for a Macan Turbo. ETA July. The total price was about 131k.

long store short, my 2021 macan was totaled.
but honestly, I was over paying $100/tank of gas in that little 4 banger.

I had an amg eqe suv ordered with an msrp of 120k, planned to lease it and the dealer was going to give me 20k off the car. Turns out the car was damaged during delivery and I had to reject it. Glad I did because the macan EV didn’t take as long as I had thought.

Really looking forward to the EV, I plan to charge at home. I really can’t stand seeing all the EV’s charging in a parking lot.
131K would out me in the new Cayenne S V8 engine faster than a sneeze .

Whatever you think you are saving in. gas you eat up in a Macan that cost 20K more than the ICE and will, fall like a rock when those components become dated like an iPhone . Look at a 2015 Macan turbo . Its a 10 year old car yet the engine is remarkably current enough to feel like its changes weren't drastic . EV wil not take this route . For example look at the taycan . Porsche just updated the car . Prior to the update there was a back and forth contest with the Tesla Plaid and the Nurburgring lap time . There is no more contest . Porsche not only smashed the Tesla record but they also smashed the 2022 car they had test last year . No one wants the old Taycan now . Heck the time was so fast its on the heels of a Gt3 already . It doesnt mean its worth buying . It does mean it wil evolve quickly.
.

Who cares..
When I get a E car, it will be the least expensice car with the longest range, I could not care less about how quick or fancy it is..
Low cost and how far.. thats it.. no emotional attachment..
This coming from a guy who has owned many P cars - loves them, still have my 356 that I bought over 40 years ago, and a fully loaded 2023 Macan S .. and have owned may others along the way.
This will be the death of Porsche - That is why the family IPO'd the company and took there Billions $$ away..

I get that there are passionate folks who love gas vehicles. I also get that aesthetics definitely matter and what looks great to one person will not necessarily look great to another. However, at least in terms of acceleration, what difference does it make whether the power comes from gas or electric? We want smooth, powerful acceleration, right? Certainly the electric motors are much much smoother with either 1 or even 2 gears. For many of us who have driven EVs, going back to a gas car with all of the gears shifting up and down continuously feels pretty odd just to get the car up to 80 MPH and back down vs no shifting whatsoever in an EV, just smooth continuous acceleration. I personally love having the quiet power of electric motors. I'm in my 50s so I have had plenty of gas cars with the noises they make, but I'm definitely not passionate about gas or the noises gas engines make that so many seem to be passionate about. Why does it matter what noise the car makes?

As far as charging goes, the only charging I do 99% of the time is at home. I plug in when I get home and have a full battery in the morning. For road tripping, I can either take the EV and deal with a longer road trip or I can take our gas car. Depreciation sucks for those who sell within a few years but if you keep your car for years it's really not that big of a deal, and especially if it is something we all face. I'm driving a Taycan now but my wife put 160,000 miles on her Tesla with very little maintenance costs and just had the HV battery replaced under warranty. Hopefully we will get another 160,000 miles out of it. I'm sure it has depreciated a lot since we got it.

From my perspective, why would you want a gas Macan at this point unless you road trip a lot and don't have another gas car as an option? It looks like this Macan Turbo will likely outperform any gas Macan from an acceleration standpoint and the handling will likely be similar or better. It's expensive but isn't a Macan GTS pretty close? Once you figure in the maintenance costs, the EV starts looking less expensive. My Taycan that is approaching 30,000 miles has had only routine warranty maintenance that Porsche recommends - a filter and brake fluid I think. No cost to me at all. No oil changes or any of the gas vehicle maintenance stuff. I personally love the lack of maintenance costs we have had with our EVs compared with our gas cars. My prior Audio had an oil consumption issue and ultimately a failed engine at less than 30,000 miles. I think the gas engine Macans have a pretty notorious history of significant maintenance costs for many. There are some real advantages to the EV motors over combustion engines.

We seems to have a very similar opinion towards the both ICE vs EV and a big part of that has to do not only with the smoothness of the power delivery but the ease of home charging and not needing to regularly call at a gas station.

After sampling quite a few different EV brands one thing has become very apparent and that is its remarkable how good some are that in the past you might not have even looked at as an ICE car. At some point I will be looking at changing the wife from an ICE car to an EV and some of these Asian brands like KIA etc are looking more interesting than many of the mainstream brands we would traditionally have went for.

Please explain what is a cars and coffee?
Cars and coffee is a social gathering of people and their cars with coffee served via a coffee truck or cart.

I dont go often and rarely take pictures . I know guys who do go often .
Years ago I did take pictures of this one because I was meeting a member from that form there . So it also was a meet and greet . A lot of my friends were there too and it was in a nice location. (black car is mine .. still have it too) .

I see, so basically because their Porsche doesn’t have an engine you would snub them despite the fact they have a Porsche and are clearly a Porsche enthusiast?

I imagine this probably happened when the 911 changed from air-cooled, the air-cooled owners snubbing those with later cars or when Porsche brought out the Cayenne those guys felt the same.

I just love cars, not tied to one make and neither do I favour what’s powering it.

Thats not it. Look at what he wrote . I ought not have to explain it to you.

I will . . .

EVERYONE is welcome to cars and coffee, whether Porsche, BMW . . . or whatever makes and models drive your enthusiasm

THE main point being relayed is that Macans are not an attraction. Most who attend are car AND driving enthusiasts . . . yes, engine/exhaust acoustics serve as a major inspiration

An ICE Macan inspires little and an EV Macan will inspire less than nothing for most car AND driving enthusiasts
