First Gen, but I think this works in all Gens
I got an LCD Lhifang dash clock from ACARDash for review, and later got one from HXHY (this one I had to buy). I plan on releasing a review video at some point, but wanted to give a preview:

Lhifang Clock doesn’t look OEM, but has some gimmicks some people may like, like CanBus messaging interaction (door ajar, TPM - which can be very intrusive while driving), proximity sensor alerts, etc…). Faces do not mimick OEM and they are too bright, especially for night driving even when you lower brightness. The biggest issue for me on this is that it has a horrible boot logo every time it turns on, and the boot logo is there for like 15 seconds. This clock have multiple faces, some of which look clownish, but some closer to OEM look but not OEM.

HXHY Clock looks very good. High resolution and contrast, while having a softness and better texture on faces. Brightness seems to be really well calibrated and tuned so that is not overtaking. The faces are a copy of OEM faces and sometimes is even hard to distinguish from real clock other than because is brighter. It boots into clock immediately (no boot logo). It only functions as a clock, with no Canbus interaction. It has 4 type of faces and then multiple colors per face (6-8, can’t remember). All faces look OEM.

You can see a comparison of the white faces.

More to come, stay tuned. A video is in editing right now…

One interesting thing I noticed is that if you zoom into the photo of the HXHY clock, you’ll see imperfections, like if you were looking at paper printing imperfections when zooming in, while Lhifang looks more perfect.

This, I think, makes the HXHY clock looks more real, a face paper-like texture.

The only additional advantage of a clock like HXHY, which functions only as a clock is its on-demand capacity to change faces and colors…. In addition, you won’t have the issue of needles falling, which is a known issue for the OEM clocks.

For example, these are faces and colors that are available at a press of a button… therefore, there is an advantage if you are one that get bored with a face or color and want to change. However, these clocks don’t work with sport chrono as a chronometer which is a disadvantage. Is all in what you want to prioritize. But I agree, if you are happy with your clock, no need to purchase these.

The Lhifang clock offers certain additional gimmicks but the boot up logo kills it in my opinion, as well as a nagging issue where every time TPMS changes information, the TPMS comes up and and stays on for a few minutes before going back to the clock (even when there is nothing wrong with pressure).

Do you mean the digital instrument cluster? Maybe, if they sent it to me for review, I’ll certainly try it.

ACAR is sending me the saddle for center console, which I will try too, although I’m not a fan of the non-button saddle, I’ll provide an unbiased review and demonstration of the unit as this may something some people may want to do.

Same for the instrument cluster if they send it to me.

While I like the tactile buttons, the big bin of the ACAR saddle would be way more useful than the stupid smokers package and dummy blanks I have right now. Can't wait for the review and required installation. Thanks for being the guinnea pig for these things.

How would it work for adding features? With the tactile buttons if you want to add PSE or sport plus its fairly easy, just some programming and add a button. How does it work with the pane of glass?

An update on HXHY clock:

I found it inconvenient that the face color changes with a momentary touch of the phone hang up button in the steering wheel. I have found myself looking at a different color in the clock only to remember that I just ended a call… so this is not a desirable function in this clock. It seems I now need to remember to press the phone hang button for 1 second (not 2 seconds) to end the call without affecting the clock. If I exceed the 2 seconds then it changes the face type.

Then, to make things worse, I just found that pressing the mute button also changes the color or face type on the clock. So, this clock is hijacking 2 steering wheel buttons which is very inconvenient to remember that I now need to press these buttons for 1 second, or go through all colors again to get to the one I just accidentally changed.

I’m in conversation with HXHY to see if they can get this fixed, either by changing the button press duration to change face color to 1 second, or find a way to lock the color/face once selected so that steering wheel control buttons don’t affect it and have ability to unlock it to change it when you want.
