I have the launch control in my car but how on earth do I use it, I read the manual but doesn't seem to work. What am I missing? Also when you use launch control i presume you have to try and time it to the timings of the light ie activate it a few secs before you suspect the lights will turn green. more importantly when activated how do you deactivate it (in case you see a cop ;) )

1. Press the brake with your left foot.
2. Quickly press the accelerator down fully (kick down activated) and hold it.
The engine speed will level off at around 5,000 rpm. “Launch Control activated” is displayed on the onboard computer.
3. Release the brake within a few seconds. Remaining stationary for a long time with LAUNCH

It does not matter if traction control is on or off, Launch Control will work either way. The computer is smart enough to know that you are requesting a fast launch and will load the engine and gearbox. The traction control system will also engage to manage wheel spin to maximize traction for the fastest possible acceleration run.

I have done it both ways and my 0-60 time is the same. Enjoy!

I have an app called Dynoliciois on my iPhone. It's very accurate as I have compared the times against some runs at Atco Raceway and they are within about a tenth.

and how does it stop and start? Does it sense the launch and know when the car passes 60? I'm going to check out that app now. Thank you.

But my question as to the sport chrono, which I believe launch control is a part, what's the good of the stopwatch part if you have to stop and start it yourself, which is not that easy to do when concentrating during launch and attaining speed.

It has a built in accelerometer. You need to program in the weight of your Macan with driver and fuel onboard. You press the start button and it will calculate when you hit 60MPH via an embedded GPS speedometer. It also will calculate 1/4 times, speed, ET and horsepower. Enjoy!

sorry for my continuing questions, but can you press start before you engage launch control, or do you have to press it at the same time? Or does the accelerometer know when you actually start forward motion?

Do you, or anyone else, know the answer to the built in chrono that comes with sport plus? What's the good of a stop watch if you have to stop and start it by yourself? How can one concentrate on the road while launching, see when the speedo crosses 60, and stop the chrono right at that instant? That seems impossible.

I have an older installed version of the app. You press start, and then can do the launch control thing. It will not start until the car moves. Check other reviews, I am sure there are many more acceleration apps.

I don't believe that sport chrono will time the car. It's more for track and lap times.

Sorry OP, hijacking your thread to say hi! To Mark .

I've been a bad poster (enjoying my Macan too much to write about it) I swore I would never be that guy when I was a waiter.....

Anyway, LC should work with or without TC on

Most common problem is not truly having the throttle all the way down. Push it through the floor.

Dynolicious works fine - I like mine, no problems

The chrono is totally manual and probably not that useful if you're not tracking.

Yeah, the Chrono part of Sport - Chrono is that you can press the button on the steering wheel each time you cross the start/finish line to track your lap times. It's not designed for 0-60 runs.

The SC lap timer is for measuring circuits (e.g., laps on a track or a particular stretch of road). It compares runs so you can evaluate your performance. Buy yourself an Aim Solo data logger (about 399.00) attach it to your windshield and your all set, 0-60, 1/8, 1/4 mile and VERY accurate. While the Macan Turbo is quick for an SUV, pick up a 911 Turbo S while your out shopping and really log some quick times!

Agreed! It kind of logs the time or can at least be calculated fairly accurately... It logs around 30 fields and the sampling rate is very good, especially if you come from the other VAG platforms and are accustomed to Vagcom. Sampling is about every .02 seconds...

When I went 11.71 @ 114.75 with a 1.596 60ft time at the dragstip in the fall, the 0-60 was 3.369 based on the MPH shown in the log and taking the time stamp from when I hit 60mph minus the time stamp that showed the last 0mph(LC launch). IE the delta was 3.369 between those readings. I've used a vbox with my S4 which cuts better 60ft times of 1.54-1.57 consistently and have gotten 3.2x 0-60's so it's in the ballpark. I'll take the vbox this year when I go to the strip in the spring and will compare to the Cobb AP and see how accurate it is...

doesn't the LC automatically turn off after a few seconds of you not launching yet? Seem to remember it automatically turning off after a few seconds of waiting with it at a stop light.....

You can't be tentative. I went hrough the same thing. Just mash the accelerator.
