Hello friends! I am not an owner yet, but hopefully very soon if things work out. I have been curious about launch control in the base model. Everywhere I look (including a search of this forum) it says that this feature is only included in the S and GTS version. However, I stumbled upon this video and at minute 11:50 the guy is talking about how the base model has a "hidden" launch control feature. Is this accurate? Is what he is doing in the video actually launch control? Hoping to hear some clarity from actual owners! Thanks!

Honestly, I don’t get the whole “launch control” thing. All the guy in the video is doing is putting his foot on the break and gas at the same time until RPMs hit a certain level and then releasing the break. Why would anyone do that? So your SUV takes off faster at the risk of damaging your transmission? Sorry folks but just doesn’t make much sense to me.
I had a 911 and it’s a fantastic sports car but it’s not a SUV. Now I have a Macan S and it’s a great SUV but it’s not a sports car and it’s never going to be a spots car. My advice—enjoy it for what it is.

My 2020 base has launch control without the sports chrono package. I wasn't happy with my 0 to 100 times from only getting the revs up to 2000 RPM so I went back and saw the dealer. The salesman sat in the driver seat, put the car into sports mode, left foot on the brake, right foot hard on the accelerator - revs went to 4000 RPM and stayed there. That is the trick - to plant your foot to the floor rather than build the revs up gently which gets you nowhere. Release the brake and you launch. Car has to be fully warm or it wont activate.
I hadn't got a 0 to 100 time below 7 seconds until I learnt this and now get 6.5 to 6.6. You don't get a launch control light on the dash and according to the driver's manual it's only available with the sport plus mode that comes with the sport chrono package.
