How many days in the shop so far?

Potential new Macan owner here. My first German car was a 2004 Touareg (the first year it was available in the US) and it spent a week in the shop every time I had an issue. This was due to a combination of too many new car issues, parts needing to be ordered from Germany, and a limited number of 'Touareg-certified' mechanics at the local VW dealer.

In the end it was in the shop maybe 20 days in the first year of ownership. Possibly more.

I know that there's a difference between VW and Porsche, even though VW owns Porsche.

Nevertheless, I'm wondering if early model-year Macan owners have been experiencing this too?

How many days has yours been in the shop? In how many months of ownership?

6 months and nothing yet.

In order to avoid new model pain, I deliberately waited for it to be out for a year before I got mine.

Some TSB and recall pending though.

If you are custom ordering yours, Macan will be out almost 2 years by the time you get yours, you should be good to go.

Agreed. Always, especially with 'high tech' vehicles.

@RJMcInnis How long does each service visit take? How long have you been in the shop total so far?

@lights I haven't counted the days. The first PCM change was due to a cosmetic flaw on delivery, it didn't affect performance. But I waited over 90 days for the part to arrive. Each PCM changeout was 1-2 days. The tires, one was patched and I drove on it, the other they gave me a rental. I think that was 5 days? The trim piece was 1 day. So ballpark around 13 days? But I have been given a loaner each time. Just out time for drop off and pick up. And I think I am on the high end of time out of my car compared to most here. I feel like I am missing another service, but can't remember it.

I would not let the potential of issues prevent you from buying a car. That's no way to live life. I enjoy every day I drive my Macan.

3 days for the 'rear PVC seal' around the tail lights

1/2 day for an oil change at 2,000 miles (not that it was needed; did it because I wanted to). They did a software upgrade at the same time. The car now has about 8,500 miles on it. No problems.

Zero days; 4 months and 3600 miles. FWIW, my '13 Cayenne GTS; zero days except for 2 routine maintenance 1/2 day visits. Two years, 20,000 miles.

Mine has been in the shop close to 20 days on various occasions including 3 visits to the approved P paint shop to correct build errors! Definitely taken the shine off the P ownership experience but I still love the car FWIW.

Most recently five days to have the bonnet/hood realigned and the high gloss B pillar on drivers side replaced. (It cracked) Took over 5 weeks to arrange though as needed a replacement vehicle for the five days. This doesn't take into account the two trips into PCM to show the cracked pillar as they didn't believe the photos I'd emailed in.

Prior to this it was in for a couple of hours for a temporary fix to the bonnet issue and some service/tech upgrades.

I've had the car back two weeks and the 'rattle' from the bonnet/hood has started again. Haven't contacted PCM yet in regard to the reoccurrence.

I have to add that I LOVE this car however I am not particularly happy with the service provided. They've been very nonchalant/blasé in regard to the matters above which I find rather hard to swallow.

Zero days for our Turbo, after 4000 miles. No rattles, or anything else requiring attention......that is, if you don't count the fuel line recall.

Haven't really been counting, but I'd say 18 days. Sounds like a lot, but I was given a loaner every time and I'd often drop it off a day or two early so the tech could get some cold driving in. They were / are still chasing the hoot owl driveshaft noise in my car.

Besides that, I've had a driver door squeak (panel fixed), muffler rattle (outstanding), heat shield vibration (outstanding), misfire at idle (bad gas), throttle fault (no root cause, never repeated), Adaptive cruise bug (random / hard to replicate), door paint protection (campaign), leaky rear window sprayer (fixed), cracked high tail light cover (from fixed sprayer).

There is also 31k miles of maintenance in there. 3 oil changes and spark plugs.

25000km and only regular servicing. This will change once parts come in for AF06...
