Forget to turn the engine off?

I've owned the car a total of two days. I'm still getting used to the keyless ignition and it seems I forgot to turn the engine off for a hour or so. Is this expected when the key isn't within a specific range of the vehicle?

My brother's RR did that. Do you have or can you add Car Connect?

With my Ford if I walk away with the key in my pocket while the car is still running the horn goes off until I'm back in range.

The whosit (that's the technical term) dings when you open the door while the engine is running. Isn't that enough of a reminder to turn it off? FWIW, I find that ding really annoying - it's a different sound than any of the other cars I've had & I'm finding myself turning off the ignition before unbuckling my seat belt just to not have to hear it. Yeah, I know - if that's my biggest complaint....

I think you just validated that at least one safety system works at least for you.:)

Porsche doesn't design functional "really annoying" features without a reason!

Sadly there are folks who buy dummy seatbelt buckles to stop warnings like that and never wear seatbelts. Darwinian selection is still alive and well - it may not be the crash that gets them but the CO....

Buy a Garage CO Detector NOW

Regardless of all the debate on should it, shouldn't it, I bought a CO detector for my garage.

I've read too many accident reports on aircraft tragedies that absolutely shouldn't have happened because no one could possibly be so stupid or nothing could fail in such a way yet multiple stupid things happened just as multiple things failed.

Cheap insurance.

Luckily my detectors are networked so the alarm sounds in the house too. So if someone (me) is stupid enough to fall asleep in the garage with the car on stop-start and the safety mechanisms are stupid enough not to kick in (they already are), I have one more level of protection.

Some will always find ways to defeat the safety features that will prevent them from being selected off, but I admire their ingenuity before they go extinct.

My wife once told me of an accident she witnessed. A pickup truck made a wrong timed left turn in front of the straight way traffic. It was broadsided and guess what? The driver was a macho lad who didn't put on the safety belt and he ended up twitching and dying on the roadside.
