I think this deserves its own thread.

I don’t own a Macan with PCM4.0 (mine is PCM3.1), but my 2018 718 does have PCM4.0 and I was able to activate CarPlay using this DIY in the first 3 hours of ownership…. I was also able to update the Navi Map to 2022 version. Someone already tested this in a Macan with PCM4.0 successfully.

I know there are some folks out there offering CarPlay activation services, using similar or these same tools… but this is a great DIY alternative offered at no cost by the publisher. Instructions are very straight forward and all you need is an SD card.

Hello I just performed this update on my 2018 Macan S.

<GEM 4.12s> Carplay activation check coding screen says carplay is ON.

Software version MHI2_US_POG11_P4151 1097
hardware version 054

The car gives prompt ‘Connect your phone via USB to use apple Carplay’. But connecting my phone does nothing, car does not recognize phone. (USB only charges phone).

I tried several different cables and iphones. Any ideas?

Think im going to try a wireless dongle next to confirm if ive been using power only USB cables.

Having the same problem. Can't get anyone anywhere to respond to this question. I've tried on the various videos I've seen explaining how to do the update. I've tried in different groups on FB and here. Nobody has any answers on why this won't work even though it shows as if it updated correctly.

I just fixed mine and got it working. My issue was the data files within each PATCH folder didn't get copied on the SD card.

Im in DC area, willing to hand over my ready to go SD card for the price of card and inconvenience. ie come get it for $10, or I can meet you for a reasonable offer.

Hi,

I have installed the M.I.B without any issues with autorun. After 3 reboots etc. it all looked to be succesfull. However when trying to access with the buttons on my PCM 4.0 it just says "aktion ausgeführt" in the lower left corner. I have tried all suggested button combinations

Can anybody help me out? Should I just run the installation again and start over?

Hi all,
first of all congrats for all who activated CarPlay
I have macan 2017 with pcm 4.0, just tried this method as instructed but unfortunately I can’t reach GEM or the engineering menu to complete the process.
I’ve tried all advices car+tuner
nav+media…etc. with no luck.
I have no idea what is wrong, please help.

I found it a bit hard to actually push car+tuner simultaneously, on my PCM it had to be done exacly at the same time. From the "home" screen and I had to hold both buttons for a couple of seconds before entering GEM.

I have another type of question. I know it's topic related more to AppleCP, but there no such topic for firmware updates.

I have '17 Macan GTS with PCM 4.0 from US market. PCM is "updated" by use of some kind of MHI2_ER_POG11_K3299 firmware.
Green menu is also different, because it have "localization" made by some local shop (in Poland).

In this case I have two questions:
  • Could I install M.i.B without any issues to actual firmware? Could it affect in any way to actual state of PCM?
  • Could I update my PCM with some AOI firmware?

Unit works as it should. CarPlay works, I don't have working Porsche Connect or Porsche Track Precision app (WiFi onboard).
Only thing which is not working are RadioStation icons. I've tried to updated RadioDB and Gracenote, but without success (I mean - it was installed, but not change appearance at all).

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a 2017 Porsche Macan equipped with PCM 4.0. I used the MIB tool to patch the system and theoretically enable Apple CarPlay. The patch process seemed to complete successfully.
However, when I plug in my iPhone, nothing happens — no CarPlay interface appears. The phone does charge, but it shows slow charging. I’m not sure if this is a hardware limitation or something related to the patch.
Unfortunately, I never tested the USB port before applying the patch, so I can’t confirm whether it was functional before 😔.

Hi all,

I'm trying to enable Apple CarPlay on my 2018 Porsche Macan with PCM 4.1.
The firmware version is:

  • MHI2_US_POG11_P4151
  • MU1097

I already have the M.I.B. More-Incredible-Bash v3.6.0 tool and the corresponding .PATCH folder, but it only contains the .IFS firmware image — no activation scripts.

I’m specifically looking for the correct:

bash
CopyEdit
/patch/
├── activate_carplay.sh
├── mib2_tool.sh
├── metainfo2.txt
├── license.dat or .fsc
├── patchinfo.txt

If anyone has this bundle or can point me to where I can find it, I’d be incredibly grateful. Porsche wants $1,100 to enable it, so I’d love to make this work DIY. Thanks in advance!

Owner of a 2017 Macan S I have followed the instructions meticulously mutliple times using multiple different SD cards. When I plug the SD card into the slot nothing happens, (yes i have deleted the _ in front of the Swdlautorun.txt file), i have tried without it aswell to manually reboot the software and the SD1 (and all the other buttons) are grayed out still. Am I downloading or using the wrong software. Here are the websites of the files i've been using Releases · Mr-MIBonk/M.I.B._More-Incredible-Bash
MIB Solution :: Login. Any tips? Anybody else have this issue? I do have a K3300 for software version also

Just want to say thank you to everyone involved in making this happen. We just picked up a 2018 GTS and I added CarPlay lastnight using MIB. I did find that it was finicky on what cable would work for our iPhone 16 Pros. We had one Anker cable and one Amazon Basics cable that worked, but other random ones, and actual Apple cables with USB-C to USB-A adapters did not (due to the adapters I am sure). So if you did everything right through MIB but it is not working, definitely grab a few different cables and do trial and error.

I used a SanDisk Ultra Class 10 16GB. Ours was MIH2_US_POG11_P4151_MU1097.
