There's a new kid on the block

£214.78 21%OFF | ISUDAR Carplay Module For Porsche/Panamera/Cayenne/Macan/Cayman/Boxster 911 718 PCM 3.1 Android Auto AI Box Camera Multimedia

Thoughts? Looks like the external box is not a requirement and it now has DSP and apparently improves on audio.

follow-up: traded a few emails with Kimi and isudar, and she replied that both sites (isudar and xyingly) are theirs, but the 'xyingly' site can support payment in Euros. Additional questions she answered for me - for a USA buyer she recommended ordering delivery from CN warehouse, and the new board with upgraded DAC/op-amps is currently available from xyingly, even though it states "pre-order" on the website.

Just checking on shipping times, I'll order if I can confirm it'll arrive after I get back from xmas break.

Not sure if this is already old news to y'all...

Has anyone installed a "Different brand" of this 1.2 version of Isudar carplay? Is it working ok? I have some random issues with my version and the seller is not helpfu,l or they do not know how their "own product" works.

The seller was TPLXAUTO, and it shares a lot of similarities with Isudar. I got no manual and the functions are a bit different from Joyeauto atleast.

First thing is that the board itself is visually a 100% match with the Isudar board. TPLXAUTO claims that they are the manufacturer, but who knows.
Isudar has released firmware updates, but TPLXAUTO said that they do not have any updates and that they do not recommend it.

I took a picture of the board before installation seen below. The board says RH8007 porsche PCM3.1 ver1.2, just like the Isudar board posted here before.

Circuit component Passive circuit component Computer hardware Hardware programmer Electronic component

1. The system is activated with a long press of INFO -button. Is it not the same with Isudar?
I would only hope that it would be the Navi or the Maps -button as I do not have the oem navi option installed, so they are useless buttons for me.

2. The volume control works only from steering wheel when carplay is active. It it still the same after the latest Isudar firmware?

3. Sometimes, but very rarely, the system freezes to a still image or a black screen. Is there a way to reboot the board without turning the car off and keep waiting for total power off?
I guess the only way is to remove that small fuse from the new board power line, but since it is located inside the dash once the PCM is back in, it is useless to do it this way.

4. Does Isudar have a way to activate rear view camera (aftermarket connected to carplay) by some other command or a button instead of putting the gear to reverse?

5. The steering wheel back button also operates the carplay. This is annoying when using the instrument cluster functions. Also a feature on Isudar?

6. and finally, where is the original Macan microphone located?? The package came with a separate mic, but I have no idea if I should use it or not, and more importantly where to install it. My PCM has a Bluetooth Aux, but I have no Idea of what comes with it and what not.

Thanks guys!

4. Does Isudar have a way to activate rear view camera (aftermarket connected to carplay) by some other command or a button instead of putting the gear to reverse? Cant comment, have OEM. works fine.

What car is this ?

Thanks guys!

I saw on Rennlist they responded earlier this month on a new firmware update, but the .rar file is no good. Went to their website, which has a different .rar file name, it also doesn't work.

Google drive update with a video showing how to update system: Carplay PCM 3.1 升级文件 - Google Drive
Their own download/update page: Updated Firmwares

When trying to unzip either file, it gives an archive error.

Unit was ordered a month ago, so I assume it has the latest board. Here's the "about system" info:

It seems like all the threads about isudar volume just died and haven't had responses in years. iSudar hasn't responded to the ones that are relevetively recent. There's a thread on Rennlist, but they haven't responded to it since the beginning of the month. All the usual things have been done on the phone, but the CarPlay volume whether tethered via USB or wirelessly is maxed to 40, but is still really, really low. Anybody get it sorted out or is everyone just dealing with low volume levels when connected to their phone?

Is this pcm volume? Or carplay volume? You can also increase max volume of aux in pcm settings.

Strictly CarPlay volume whether tethered via USB or bluetooth. If I go back to the radio as the source, the volume there works fine. The AUX volume has been maxed in the iSudar settings. Every other feature works as it should, I don't have any of the other quirky issues I see people having with back-up cameras, connectivity, etc....it just has low volume when using Carplay as the source.

Then check pcm settings, in the area were you can enable disable aux or aux BT you can also increase the max levels to make it louder and closer to your other volumes such as radio etc

Updating the firmware fixed some of my issues. Volume control is fixed and the carplay can now recover from black screen freeze-out.

Problem with reverse camera that is connected to the carplay module:
When driving forward close to an obstacle, the car parking sensors activate in the backround. Now at this point when you switch to reverse, the reverse camera activation jams up the carplay and you cannot see the reverse camera picture. The screen goes black, Music stops, carplay turns off and PCM goes to oem park sensor image. The carplay unfreezes few seconds after you have already parked the car.

PRO TIP: If you have an aftermarket reverse camera, do not connect it to carplay module, as the carplay system does not work properly.
Find yourself another method by connecting the camera directly to your PCM.

Screen mirroring is a joke... I tested out the screen mirroring function with my iPhone Xs. To my surprise, the screen mirroring works only with wired connection, witch is a bummer. Other issue is that for example watching Youtube, the video and the sound is not in sync, witch makes the mirroring function completely useless to me. Additionally, the screen resolution is stretched to 4:3 distorting any other size of video aspect ratio. For comparison, I had a retrofit carplay in my previous old BMW e93, where the screen mirroring worked Wireless, properly synced and with perfectly fitted resolution... just saying.

In a nut shell, the "isudar" screen mirroring function is horrible and useless.

I wonder if they can fix these issues if this feedback would reach Isudar SW developers...

Hey everyone, I installed the Isudar CarPlay retrofit product in my PCM3.1. Everything went well but I have an audio issue:

the sound works only on the passenger side. I have the Bose Surround system installed. If I call someone via CarPlay, all speakers are working but if I stream Music or listen to a podcast, only the passenger side works. I tried to use the audio balance setting and it’s centered. I also just upgraded the firmware which solved the low volume issue for me but not the speaker issue.

Do you have any idea why the sound for audio streaming works only on the passenger side?

EDIT: for FM radio everything works fine, only audio in CarPlay mode works only on the passenger side.

Thank you!

If FM works well, your MOST bus wire is OK and it is connected. It may be a wire that is not seated well in its connector in the Isudar board. The reason you can hear calls, is because if your phone is still paired to PCM, the call is actually made through the PCM even though you are seeing it in the CP screen.

I would start by inspecting and re-seating all wires/connectors in the Isudar Board. Also, the quad lock.

Good luck.

@Santirx , @notmac1 just successfully completed the iSudar install , VER 1.2
He is on 0927 now. Would you suggest he does MCU upgrade, than 1124 ? ? or is MCU now bundled into 1124 ? thanks !
@Teddis @Santirx A big shout out to both. I installed the SSD drive per Santrix instructions everything went perfect. Then went after the Isudar install after the hard drive checked out perfect. Terry owe you big for all the help and face time you made the final check out seamless. Saved big time no don't need a new car to get Car Play. Looking forward to the info and location to get the update to finalize the volume control issue with the update. Couldn't have done it or tried it without you guys.

Good to hear @notmac1

Since the FW updates are independent, one for MCU (i.e. volume) and the other is for SOC, the order really doesn’t matter.

But… do MCU first, then SOC. I copied the files in following link:

Isudar Firmware Update - Google Drive

The volume issue is fixed by upgrading MCU (see MCU folder). To check if you have the volume issue, when in CarPlay, if you see a volume bar in the CarPlay screen when you turn PCM volume (in the actual PCM, not the steering wheel), then you need to update the MCU Firmware. What happens is that the volume in PCM is maximized by the volume in steering wheel (PCM is slave to steering).

The 1124 firmware you find in the Board v1.2/2.0 folder.

To update, you need to use the USB port that is directly attached to the Isudar module.

Wait until the update is complete. You’ll see a thin white bar, and that bar will be progressing until completely gray. Do not interrupt the process or you will brick the module. Is really not complex…

Good luck!

This update works with EBILAEN module?

Just did the install and here are a few notes, unfortunately without pictures.

Once the unit is out, and you have to separate the two metal housings to access where you'll install the board, mine did not separate easy like it does in the video for install. I had to use a flathead to pry the sides out a bit to free up the tension.

My PCM has the Sirius XM board, and I was able to successfully use the 6 spacers to clear the plug on top. Simply take one long spacer, and one short spacer, twist together, and then use a screw to tighten into place. Then back out the screw to then secure the board down.

Because of Sirius, the opening you're supposed to feed all the cable through is covered by a cable that feeds out of the board. You can simply not route anything through the hole, and just have it resting on top of the frame itself. When putting the unit back together it will go back together no problem.

The only issue I have is that I can only use the phone when my PCM is set to Aux BT. When it is set to XM or FM, I can answer the phone via the headunit, but no sound transmits unless I switch it to Aux BT.

Hello all,

i just finished installing the isudar system (software v2.2.1), booted perfectly fine however i couldn’t connect/pair it with my iphone’s carplay.

It always end up with “connection failed, please reconnect”. But weird thing is that both my iphone and isudar bluetooth shows that it is connected.

any help will be much appreciated

Ate the antenna the same

Bluetooth antenna looks good to me. I did not install any software updates yet. Should this be the case?

the BT and Wifi antenna notoriously get mangled on oush back if they have not been tapped to the backplane. I would check this and the connection as well.
Opened the unit few minutes ago to recheck the antenna connection and was secured solid onto the board. Still carplay couldn’t connect with my phone, only bluetooth telephone works . 🥲

I just installed Mr12Volt... I will open a new thread with my review soon... but I have to say, integration is eons better than Isudar, faster than Isudar, and the audio is digital quality...
Very happy for you! Although my Isudar is still on its way to me, I already regret a bit that I didn't order the mr12Volt.

When will you write the details?

#93 ·
There are many including myself who updated their existing PCM to an Isudar systemusing the original screen. I did that others are now using Mr12 volt. Both these use the existing screen so you can compare to see if there is an advantage to this product.
