Got new pzeros installed today and found this.

Tire installers camera review showed this is already there so one of those valet f***s where my wife and I went to for dinner 2 nights ago did this.

Wondering if this will come off through a DIY job or have the pros fix it? i'm totally bummed.

Depending entirely on how deep the scratches are it may come out without a repaint. I'm not familiar with the best product(s) to attempt this on your own. I've had my brother take care of superficial scratches before on other vehicles without a repaint. He does auto body paint for a living and knows everything about everything there including how to avoid painting altogether. I imagine others here will have product suggestions.

oh man sucks to see. I would think that may need some paint work but it depends on how deep it is. I would consider filing a claim with the valet company and if they fight you can destroy them via social media and there assistance may change.

Valet??? Never, ever, ever...... In my home country, you cannot find parking in big cities since the valet mafia took control of it. Thus, you have no choice but give your car to a valet and pay for the idiot to park on the street where they control the parking spaces. A TV channel installed hidden cameras on cars and later showed on TV what the valet guys did with the cars. You won't want to know what they do with the cars they get.

its the kinda place in Houston where your car gets valet parked, i was totally uncomfortable after I handed them my key but I just shrugged it off as I had more important event to focus in on at the time (it was a 15 yr wedding anniversary fancy dinner). Coincidentally, i've got this detailer guy coming over next week to get a consult for a full royal treatment on my GTS and now this happened, hopefully he can work his magic.

If your fingernail catches on the damage, then most likely buffing will not remove 100% of it, but your detailer should be able to tell you immediately. A lot of it could probably be minimized by a good paint corrector, but it will require taking down the clear coat.

From the last picture it seems like paint is gone. My wife had something similar happen to her Mercedes SUV (not a valet but similar scratches) and it had to be repainted. It was a $1500 job and you cannot tell the difference at all. Good luck.

Looks like a repaint to me. I never valet park my POV. I would rather walk a mile than let some jerk drive it and smash it up or burn the tires off, or worse. In the situation where you are forced, in your area, apparently, to valet park, I would photo the car first and tell the valet you are taking pictures and then photo it when you pick it up. Then if you find damage, before you drive off, speak to the manager or person in charge to report their damage. Sorry you got burned on an eventful evening. Congratulations on 15 years BTW.

I'd let a detailer give it a try and see what they can do. Maybe they can't get rid of it entirely, but if they can remove most of it, what remains might be tolerable without going the repaint route.

Especially with bumpers, you never know when another incident might happen. So I'd be inclined to defer a 100% fix until a more extensive paint repair is required.

Your idea about taking pictures are good BUT it can work against you. You basically tell the valet you don't trust him and he will be pissed. Again, in my home country there are tons of stories of valets taking nice cars for a ride while the owner is having dinner. Some get hookers with the car, others drive like they stole it (and with photographic radars you will get the tickets later and have no way to prove you were not the one driving the car), others steal things from the car (yes, even spare tires). Problem is when you get your car back you have no time to check it. Usually is at night so pictures that you took before won't work under low light conditions. You won't be able to see any damage on your wheels, etc... You won't check if your spare tire is there. At the end, I also walk a mile to not give my car to a valet or I take a Uber if I know I have no way of parking myself.

That’s terrible news but hopefully it can be repaired without too much trouble. I have a hardwired dash cam that also has an interior camera. It helps, but not a total deterrent. Might be a good idea.

Yeah it's damaged and insurance or any Body shop will say it's got to be pulled and painted which is where the trouble starts. Under the best circumstances it can be repaired without further trouble, but I have little confidence in that outcome. The more experience I have with repairs other than what I do myself there is always an issue. So with a bumper repaint you have the wiring and the headlight cleaners etc which are opportunities to screw something up. I would just leave it to be addressed if and when something else has to fixed as was suggested by another poster.

Rule of thumb... if it's on the surface (or just slightly into the clearcoat) it can be buffed out; if it's below the clearcoat some form of fill and repaint is needed. I've done acceptable fill and repaint work at home (especially low on the car like that where light reflections aren't as noticeable), and in fact my Boxster has a similar scrape on the lower rear bumper that's barely visible after me doing some judicious spray painting, wet sanding and polishing. Try that and consider it an interim repair until more damage happens.

Howdy there,

Doesn't appear to be all the way through the clear, but definitely take it to a pro detailer. I've taken out scratches almost that bad - maybe 3 grits of sanding film and switching to a microfiber cutting pad and some aggressive compound would get out the bulk of it.

A good detailer worth his/her salt would tell you something like "I think we can get it XX% of normal without having to repaint" and tell you how they're planning to do it. Or if you like, reddit has a good sub /r/autodetailing where you could post up the same pics and get some detail-savvy ppl weighing in. If you can't meet a detailer in person right away, then a video of the scratches from different angles would help them evaluate.

Run your fingernail through it gently. If it stops even slightly its a repaint . Its not a big deal. The bumper is plastic and can be removed so overspray is not a concern if done properly . I had a blemish similar but was a woman who tapped my wife in traffic . The cop didn't want to even write the ticket but my wife insisted . It cost 1300 (plus another 300 for my detailer to ceramic pro the repaint) which the other persons insurance paid . I went through my insurance though . Make sure you bring it to a proper Porsche certified collision shop no matter what your insurance tries to say . I told mine "Its not your decision. Its my car now you can either work with that idea or not." They paid and fetched it from the other party . I even forgot about it afterwards., It really is nothing but has to be addressed efficiently .
