I know these cars are not direct competitors, but curious if anyone has experience with both. I love my Macan, like love it... It's the best all around vehicle I have owned. With that being said, I can get into an equal mileage X5MC for about the same price because of their terrible resale hit they take the first year or 2. For equal money, would you trade for the beast? It has me thinking anyway.

One other consideration is the X5MC has an extended warranty until 2028.

My car: 2022 Macan GTS w/ 14k miles
BMW X5MC: 2023 w/ 14k miles

I'm following this. I've also been looking at them lately even if I just lowered my 22 gts and put on new tires.

The only thing that bothers me with the X5M is the 21F and 22R visual look. Just not fit for an SUV imho. Otherwise it is Cayenne TT perf for new-ish Macan money and I'm a fan of BMW's full leather interior treatment.

It‘s a very different car and you would take a hefty hit on your Macan resale because it is still relatively new and has low mileage. Unless you need the additional space you would only find a less agile, more boxy large SUV.

Have you looked into Cayenne options?
I wouldn't consider the value of my Macan taking a "hefty hit". I paid around $92k before taxes and similar ones are listed low to mid $80k's with most having more than 14k miles. On the other hand, the X5MC has a sticker of over $130k, has $9k in a full PPF job, extended warranty until 2028, has the same mileage, a year newer and around $90k. The BMW takes a hefty hit.

I don't need the extra space which is a con of the X5 for me. I also know it will be less agile. My Macan handles amazing with the lower ride height and wider wheels/tires.

I recently drove the X3 and the X3 Comp is the more direct competitor . BMW has made their cars faster . They must have guessed that Carwow was going to showcase them . The BMW SUV's tilt more to feeling like an SUV where Porsche requires a double take that it isn't a raised sedan .

The Macan will, take a big hit My 2023 car priced at 115K with 26K miles was given 73K in trade from Porsche and I decided to keep it . At first I was taken back but now I realize it's the market . I was just used to looking at 911's selling for over MSRP even now to digest such a big drop on the Macan . 73K barely buys a new Base Macan .

My vote is to keep the Macan . You are the original owner , That X5 was driven but someone else .

The X3M Comp is ugly AF also. Pretty much ugly from every angle.

I have both. Nothing pulls like the x5m. Its handling is also out of this world. The harsh ride reviews are BS.

Awesome. Which do you enjoy driving more?

the macan is lowered on Techart with flat 6 spacers flat 6 intake, Techart exhaust and custom flat 6 tune. Also did the full screen CarPlay. I would say both cars handle the same. The interior and tech x5m is superior. The macan with all that work can’t come close to keeping up in a straight line but feels lighter in the corners yet doesn’t handle better. That being said I reach for the macan keys 9 out of 10. I’m considering doing a full Dinan package on the x5m currently. My biggest gripe is ride height and the exhaust for a v8 is weak compared to the m4 comp convertible exhaust I had.

Thanks for your thoughts! Have you ever thought of taking the Macan to stage 2? Might get a little closer to the straight line speed of the X5MC.

Mr. Wolfe

Right Rick. My wife was shopping for a new car. X5MComp was in her sights and checked most all of the boxes until she looked at the front. A big NO, no way. We went right to Porsche and ordered a new 2024 S. Dave T.

I came from previous gen X5M and now loving my 22 GTS. I know it’s a different vehicle (2018’ but I can say nearly 600 hp and 8 cyl is a completely different beast. The sound from the 8 cyl was intoxicating and the power was there at all times. With that said the Macan GTS truly handles like a dream. Much more fun to drive and you can throw it into corners like a 911. If you don’t need the space you may not like it as much as a daily driver. If both vehicles were the same price new I may have upgraded at the time but the new X5M was over $150K which made no sense.

I have thought about Downpipes but the fab speed ones are absurdly expensive and the tneer ones say other own description that they drone

Mr Wolfe - I have viewed all of your posts of your journey with your GTS, and what you might be experiencing is "what's next syndrome". You have your GTS set up perfectly. In fact I would say it is one of the nicest I have seen on the forums. (no slight to all of the other beauties on this site). That aside, when we get our GTS's dialied in the way we want them, they are, bar none, the best looking cars in the segment. Especially when compared with the boxy profile of the BMW product. Where I live, BMW's are everywhere. And while I see a lot of base and S versions of the Macan, the GTS is still a rare sighting.
Having owned several BMW M cars, there are two things that drove me crazy about them. First is the amount of brake dust they throw off. The wheels are contstantly dirty. And with that dirt came lots of expensive brake jobs. The clean wheels on the Macan GTS due to the PSCB brakes is one the things I love I about my GTS. They simply work brilliantly without the mess and fuss. The second thing about the BMW's that I don't like is the depreciation, which is simply a bi-product of volume produced, and how limited you are in personalizing options when you order. (I guess that is three things). For instance, when I built my GTS, I didn't want sunroof or roof rails (I loathe sunroofs), and to date, I have not seen one Macan in my area configured the same way. To me that is part of what makes my car special to me.
You have built yourself one heluva car. Take a breathe, give it a good detail, park it next to your other pretty little blue car and enjoy the view!
