Thanks Scott. You answered a lot of out questions here previously, thanks.
Can you tell us what specifically has changed with v2.0?
Also, the one question that wasn't answered before was how the microphone works (OK, Google?) and where it is installed.
What is the pricing info for v2.0?
In you video you said it has Lolipop, but on your website I believe it says Nougat. Which is correct?
Thanks.
Hi Mark

The main benefits of the new unit (2.0) is that is more powerful and can also run 2 apps side by side on the screen/split screen mode. Performance wise it is noticeably quicker, roughly 5x-10x faster for Apps such as Waze to launch and all around response is much faster. Boot time is reduced from approx 35-45seconds to approx 10seconds. And it runs Nougat Android for increased application compatibility and version recency (sorry for the confusion, the web site is still being updated).

Sorry yes the system comes with a microphone, recommended the installation is on the A-pillar and it works well subject to the accuracy of Googles voice recognition technology which the unit uses.

$970 including worldwide shipping, tracked and insured. Payment via PayPal for buyer protection and ease of currency conversion and can be purchased directly from the web site at http://www.sdkautos.com

@SDKAutos, can it be configured to have dual bootup options to support either andriod or iOS/carplay?
Hi there,

The system runs full Android (unrestricted) however you can run Android Auto, free of charge, by downloading it via the Google Play Store. The system can also run iOS CarPlay but it requires an additional hardware unit which costs an additional $250USD, but it does give the unit full Wireless native Apply CarPlay for iOS Devices in addition to native Android/Android Auto. So you get the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the additional info @SDKAutos
Your install video on your 911 is OK, but I'd like to get more info about the installation on a Macan. The last thing I need is to bust up the trim because I am trying to take it off incorrectly. I'm highly interested, but I need a little less risk when it comes to the installation before I'm willing to take the leap. If someone on here does a nice post documenting the install, that would definitely be worth some $$ to you because a lot more people would be likely to order.

So started the install of the unit over the weekend. Didnt see any instructions in the box or any reference to a complete set of instructions. Sent an email to Scott but havent heard back, only been a couple of days. Did see some different videos on youtube but when it came to the Macan specific, I didnt see much. Looks like there is a series of instructions but seems like a few of the videos are missing, mostly when it comes to Macan specifics.

Couple initial observations:

Before starting removal of PCM, I would recommend attaching all connectors to the Android box and Bluetooth module and marking them so you know where they go when you do the install. Not all the ports on the box are used and not all the connectors in wire harness are used. One of the youtube install video covers which Android ports are used but dont think it talks about wire connection that are not used. I would also tape all the connectors not used together. I think these would be the speaker wire connectors. The wire harness for audio is set up to either transmit thru bluetooth module or hard wired thru connectors. As far as I understand, this set up doesn't use any speaker wire connection. Microphone plug is in this bundle also. The LVDS cables (grey cables that go between PCM,Android box and Screen) can get a little confusing so make sure you understand where they go to make install easier. I believe cable with two Male ends go from Android box to screen, other cable is used to extend the factory LVDS cable. Order should be:
PCM-SHORT LVDS CABLE(factory)-LVDS EXTENTION-ANDROID BOX-2 MALE END LVDS-SCREEN.

Yes, getting the vents/trim pieces off isnt the easiest thing to do if one hasn't done it before. A small hook about 6 inches long is needed to hook the back of vent. One could go to the hardware store and get a ~1/8inch piece of metal rod and bend the end to make a hook. The bend shouldnt be more than 1/4 inch or so. I bent the rod then cut it down. A good yank will pull the clips out. On the passenger side trim(one piece consisting of the two vent and the trim)there is a plastic hook about 6inchs from the left side on the back of the trim that needs to be pushed up as you pull trim away from dash. As I make my way left to right unclipping the trim I found this hook. Pushed my plastic trim tool up from bottom of trim to release it as i was slowly pulling trim away from dash. Vent on left of PCM is just the vent with a small piece of trim. I did dislodge some of the louvers in the vent. As long as the pieces are not broken you can snap everything back together. The big louver to close the vent off in the back is flexible enough to get its pins back in the hole. The arms to move this louver comes apart and goes back together pretty easy.

There are 6 screws holding the PCM in. Bottom 2 are exposed after 2 middle screws are off and door covering sim/sd slots is removed(the 2 middle screw holds door on). 2 bottom screws are hard to get to with fingers to remove so be careful because they can drop down in the center console. Pliers or magnet would help.

Power wires:
there is POS and NEG wires in audio wire harness and POS and NEG in other wire harness(Power/CAN). Couple of other wires in this bundle that I am not sure if need. I spliced the audio POS and NEG to other POS and NEG wires respectively. from there I used the red wire splice connectors from kit to tie into the positive and negative of the PCM power wires. Not sure if these were the right ones to use in regards to if they are always hot or not. The wire I sliced into were the PCM wires that go to bottom of CAN connector, Brown for NEG and the other one next to it for POS. After connecting everything together and connecting car battery back up I wanted to see what stays on when car is off. After having everything come on and working(screen came on, red light and fan inside Android box on, and blue light on Bluetooth module and Android all working, I turned car off. Only thing that stayed on was the Bluetooth module. I locked car with mirrors folded and went to lunch, (about an hour)to see if it went to sleep but it didnt. So dont know if the power wires I used were correct and how much draw the bluetooth module pulls when car is off. I had an MDX with a bad OEM bluetooth module and it would kill my batter if car was off for a couple of days. Looking to see if anyone knows if my wire choices were correct. Note, to get the PCM wire connector off(big square black connector on back of PCM) off, squeeze the bottom of the square connector housing and you should be able to rotate a latch up and pull the connector out. when you have the big connector out, you can remove the grey CAN connector from the Big black connector you just removed. should be a little tab on the front(side that goes into PCM to unlock grey connector from black connector. This grey connector is what you attach the Power/CAN harness that came with the kit.

There is a pretty good write up on 718 Forum under Android Module Add of a guy that installed a similar set up. learned a lot there, not just about the install

Where am I at now.

Now is where I am stuck. tried to mount ANDROID box on top of PCM and slide everything back in, No Luck. I couldnt even fit the ANDROID box horizontal in the dash because it's too wide. took the screws out of the Android box and tape it up. it would slide in but cant get both Android box and PCM pushed all the way in. I saw on other videos that the Android box should be mounted in the footwell inside the dash. I looked on Passenger side and to the left of glove box but didnt see the space that is in the videos and looked on driver side. I am thinking this mounting place is for the Cayanne. might try and mount it in footwell exposed but really rather not

Hopefully I hear back from Scott on some of my issues or others can chime in. I did mention to Scott that the real value he is selling is not on the unit itself, you can buy it straight from Korea, but on good instructions that anyone can follow on specific car models.

Hopefully once I get everything squared away I can right a good install instruction unless SDK already has one.

Cheers

So any updates for us? I have yet to convince my wife about this mode for the Macan, but I am definitely thinking about it for the 718! Porsche has yet to embrace Android, which if they had Android Auto would be nice, but this addition would give an even better experience!

I received the newer version of hardware late last summer, didn't get to install it until December. Bought a house, had surgery and a bunch of crap going on. The new device is definitely more robust and performs faster than the previous. I had issues with the BT on the first version. 2nd version shipped with an external BT module. Unfortunately, the audio quality on the external BT module is horrible. BT on the attached antennae won't even connect to my PCM. So, as much as I like having Android on my PCM, the audio issues just ruins it. The new mic does work which is nice but I end up just using my phone these days due to music sounding bad with the android mod. Gave it a shot, but for a grand, it doesn't perform as expected.

Thanks for the long-term update! I haven't pulled the trigger due to lack of Macan specific install instructions. I'm handy and I'm sure I could figure it out eventually, but I have no desire to fumble around trying to figure out how to remove all the trim pieces without damaging anything.
The BT audio quality is is a show-stopper for me to as all I do in the car is stream audio over BT. Hopefully Scott can figure out the BT quality issues.
