aftermarket wheels and TPMS sensors

I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of aftermarket winter wheels.
I'm kinda stuck now with the TPMS sensors.

One wheel shop tells me that I need to get the original Porsche TPMS sensors to make sure everything works, others tell me that any aftermarket TPMS sensor will work if properly programmed. Prices for TPMS sensors vary from 30eur (33$) to 120eur (130$)/piece. One even told me not to bother about the TPMS and just drive around without them. I'm sure that is an option to some but not for me. I'm well aware of the importance of the proper tire pressures.

If you have aftermarket wheels, what kind of TPMS sensors did you install and do they work with Macan without issues? If possible, please provide a link to the TPMS, I don't mind bying online or ebay or...

many thanks.

Hi, I'm working on winter wheels and have Blizzaks DM V2 on order but maybe I'll switch to either Pirellis or Michelins as the reviews are mixed on the new Blizzaks? Bigger question is where to get these Tire pressure Sensors, I keep trying Tire rack website but says they don't have them. I'm having a MY17 Macan S coming late December. Please help. Appreciate it. You can call up your local tire shops too to check if they have this.

For Mississauga, you can try

Tires 23 :: Mississauga ON Tires & Auto Parts Shop

I have heard the prices are much more now compared to when I got mine. I think you may be looking at about $100 each now due to our Cdn $ tanking in the last couple of years.

btw, there are other brands out there besides HUF. The lesser known brands will for sure sell for much less, but I don't know what is the reliability of them.

I have Pirelli Scorpion Winter. Did not have any choices when the Macan came out due to sizing. I have gone thru 2 full winters and will be doing one very soon. Not a noisy winter tire by any means at all. I do typical 80% city/20% highway and it looks to be the tires will be totally done by end of this coming winter season and will be needing a new set for 4th winter. In all, I would say this Pirelli will last about 30,000km (average 10,000km per season)

In all, I would rate the Pirelli a 'B'. If you want ultimate traction, Nokian Hakka R2 SUV (probably about +$150 more for the set of 4, compared to other tire brands)

You change the setting through the MFD. There is a TPMS menu.

Kaltire can get the sensors and mount them in Canada. Not sure of pricing. I got mine mounted from Tire Rack. There are tons on Ebay too. You can also get them at your Porsche dealership.
